Leonardo (not that one)

I've been a bit creatively wiped out in the last week or so.  I'm feeling really down on both my art but the strange little worlds any of it belongs to.  This could just be the after-effect of both the illness and seasonal 'blah' setting in, but its made it a bit tough to really come up with anything interesting to sketch out.

Luckily I have a handful of things to actually do colour work on and finish, so there will be a good deal of finished art done for this month.

In trying to get the creative gears moving again, I tend to do very random, very (often) weird images of different types.  This time around I found a program called 'Leonardo' which I admit I've never heard of before.  It had a few really good features that interested me, namely an 'infinite canvas' as well as being able to draw ellipses along a perspective plane (seriously, why can't more art programs do that correctly?) so I thought I'd give it a spin to test things out.

Its not a bad little app.  Its still in beta, but clearly a lot of love went into it.  Its made for drawing on Windows tablets, adding smoothing that tries to counter the near spastic-coffee overdose lines that appear on the Surface when using their pen.  It does a fairly decent job of it, though doesn't eliminate it fully since its actually a byproduct of Microsoft's pen software rather than the programs themselves.

I don't tend to post the really weird/sketchy stuff I do in this vein.  Often there isn't a lot that I find very interesting in them, as they are just an exercise in trying to get my brain into a creative space.  I'm not sure I'll make a habit of this, but I figured a glimpse into how utterly scribbly my concept work really is wouldn't hurt.

I'll be working on getting some of those images painted over the coming weeks, and will, as always, post them here.

One of the other artists I watch calls these 'brain droppings', and they're a joy to see. They're a peek inside the mind of the artist; always a pleasure and a lesson.

Perfesser Bear

For winter blues I strongly recommend large doses of Key West, Florida or Long Beach, California.

Bright full spectrum bulbs, LED works. I have the equivalent of 300 watts in the ceiling of my Sanctum. People that make the mistake of looking at it complain. Yea, I get the SAD too.

I always love seeing these kinds of doodles from artists :)

For seasonal depression, get krill oil, magnesium taurate, vitamin d, soy lecithin, and a strong blue LED bulb from Amazon.
