Some sketches don't quite seem to work out. It can come down to all sorts of factors, sometimes it will be stress, other times it's due to a bad sleep schedule. In the case of this one, I just wasn't able to 'see' it in my head. I could see the concept, but couldn't quite get the characters to look even reasonably like they should.
Except for the goblin. For some reason the goblin caravan guard was nailed the first try at him :p
I managed to get this, I hope, to a reasonable enough state that in the next day or so my brain can fill in all the 'wrong bits' that it can't quite figure out, and I can maybe get this one painted for October as well.
I realize many of the previous images were actually reworks or finished colours of previously done drawings from years past. So I wanted to get a brand new one of these sketched out and done for the continuing harvest/October/autumn theme. I don't have many weeks of the 'atmosphere' left, and even now every night is starting to threaten snow.
The picture itself is the first time I've ever drawn Keelahi (or Kee/Keeah for short). A Khavijassi seer for her pack, and a holder of one of the shards of the world's heart. She's one of those rare characters who reached out from the ether to me in a dream, and I distinctly remember not only her eyes, but the name, repeated over and over until I woke up.
She's a complex character. Smaller in height for most of her kind (Standing at a whopping 5'1"), and she's getting to pick the first couple pumpkins to learn to make pumpkin pie from. She's become fast friends with Cinders, and her family, and its turned into a bit of a cultural exchange between them.
Cinders, of course, is happy to give away rare silks for these few choice pumpkins. The trader sure won't complain.
Where have all the leefs gone.
