Episode 78 - Sailing to Menorca and exploring deserted anchorages and castles!

Lots of fun this week guys, we sail along the coast of Mallorca to a very gorgeous wild anchorage and explore the underwater life in the little Cala, with no one else around but the fish to keep up company! Then it's time to sail on to Menorca and discover some cool bays, a great hidey-hole for waiting out a storm and a deserted spooky castle to explore!

Thanks Angus, glad you enjoyed the episode! The fort was great wasn’t it! Really open to the elements there like you said with the salt erosion and stuff! The chain is baffling isn’t it, black dirty slimy stuff? Not sure what it is in such clean waters?! But I do think we really do need to think about trying to get a new chain! X

Yeah maybe but it’s black where there is no zinc and it’s totally rusty already, so it’s a bit odd! It’s like some like of reaction! Or some kind of algae or something!? 👍

I think the black stuff on the chain is the zinc galvanized corroding off, and when it's gone, the orange rust will start. that is why the zinc is there, to sacrifice itself to prevent the iron chain rusting.

As I have said before I am so sorry for all the pain that comes from your meningitis issues. The black spots on your anchor chain looks so much like fuel oil residue. You must gotten some where else because the bottom where you were snorkeling looked sandy and clean. Enjoy your land adventures of all the old protection from the sea and invaders. You could really see the salt damage from the sea over the years on the walls of them. Another wonderful video that you put together, Nicky.
