We weren't expecting to have to stay in the marina and thought we would be sailing lots of different locations, but Tunisian officials think otherwise so here we are exploring Tunisia by land mostly. We are exploring lots and having all kinds of adventures, we are hoping soon to travel further south and far into the Sahara desert by camel to really experience Bedouin life! but Sunday was a quiet one so I thought I'd make you a little video to show you what normal old boat life is like, its not always crazy adventures and busy days sometimes its just boat jobs and having fun with my beautiful kiddos 😉 remember to look out next Monday for our next episode, a week early as always for you guys only 👍

2021-10-21 14:06:29 +0000 UTCPrusik knots are super helpful, it’s not the knot I tied, but the prusik can be used to climb the mast and attach a bride or snubber to your anchor oh lots of stuff, great knot 👍

2021-10-20 08:51:41 +0000 UTCThe hook on the rope is slightly to small for the sail I can get it through with a bit of an effort though. In rough seas it will go which ever way up is easier I’m guessing. I’d go with the hook through the sail first but if the sails in a mess n it just want reach then I’ll turn it round n hook bottom on first and then just use the pin in the D shackle to attach it to the sail. Either way it should be a fast approach for me when reefing rather than standing up there tying bloody knots, which is what I was trying to avoid 😊

But I can do all the ones I’ve tried it’s just remembering them I have the problem with, I google them if I need to check I’m right and it’s an important job like plaiting rope to the anchor chain.👍 and I have a book of knots which are pretty basic but good for everyday stuff.

2021-10-19 11:00:24 +0000 UTCNow I was just thinking, ooh err I wonder where Nicky got all her knowledge of ropes, knots and tying things up.. and then I remembered oh yeah probably the same place as me. I had a big poster of all sorts of sailing knots I got from a visit to Portsmouth. of course I also had my big scouting encyclopedia of knots, lashing and whippings. Before any of your more imaginative viewers get the wrong idea.. a good whipping saves your hemp ropes from fraying. 🙈😂
