His father was racist, so Miklo was constantly abused by his father due to his hatred for Mexican people. Paco was always referring to Mikloβs complexion and making him feel that he does not βfitβ as a Mexican/brown person. Miklo grew up around crime with a relative who has ties to a gang; so bring part of a gang was the only way for him to belong. La Onda was the only time Miklo had respect from his own people. Cruz was basically telling Paco that he plays a larger role in Mikloβs destiny as Paco did not accept Miklo from the beginning
