American Rhythms are Superior

Clickbaity title, I know, but I've been meaning to make a video on the divide between British and American English when it comes to naming rhythms. Americans get a measurement system right, for once. Fractional music notation is superior to Latinate notation, and the history behind each is absolutely fascinating. To me at least.

The inspiration for this video came when I got a HUGE number of comments on my offbeat quarter note triplet video complaining that I used the American naming system instead of the British.

This video was originally intended as a "lighter" less research-intensive video, but of course the subject matter turned out to be a lot deeper than I originally had anticipated, so now you'll know more than you probably ever needed to know about the history of naming rhythms.

Enjoy, guys!
