re: the canadian content in canadian-produced media, it's a product of the massey report (1951 i think?). the report kind of sought to highlight that canadian culture was diminishing thanks to our proximity to the united states. in response, the canadian government made it mandated for all canadian mass media outlets (so crave/bell, the canadian broadcasting company (cbc), which does tv and radio, etc.) to encourage the consumption of "canadian" art etc. by sharing a set percentage of songs etc. that originated in canada! a little history lesson for ya, bussy :)
