In today's Hot or Rot? we break down episode 6 of Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars 8: Joan - The Unauthorized Rusical. Our queens were challenged to sing, dance, and portray Joan Crawford in various eras of her hollywood career and the runway category was Night of 1000 Grace Jones-es. So, we break down all of that and then take a look at the tom foolery, shenanigans, and drama of the episode including the controversial elimination involving Kandy Muse and Jaymes Mansfield.

Just a quick comment concerning your explanation of Kahana's version of Joan. The movie, The Women, was not early in Joan's career, it was made in 1939, and used many of the women who auditioned for Gone with the Wind and didn't get cast. She was in her thirties. Kahana was playing Joan who was a flapper sensation in very early talkies, before she found herself, which worked for Kahana, as Joan hadn't found her complete set of mannerisms that helped propel her and arm her for stardom. I love you Bussy, but you need an older gay in your life to fact-check your assumptions about gay lore.

I actually believe they already know what parts are going to who way before the actual episode. Because how do the queens get costumes for the show? Production probably don’t have multiple sizes of each costume. They have the right size outfit for the Queen they know they’re going to give the part to. Or the Queens are told to bring a specific outfit in their package
