okay so, as a girly who works in canadian media i want to clarify that it isn't "law" that requires canadian media to showcase/hire 50% canadian staff BUT if you apply for and receive government funding from Ontario Creates or CMF (which Canada's Drag race does, as you can find both these logos at the end of the credits) then part of the funding requires 50% canadian staff to be hired. it's a way for the province/country to incentivize canadians to hire within their own province/country and also to incentivize americans to shoot/produce things up here too, with the goal of increasing jobs and revenue waaay up here. hope this helps!
