Here's a little more of my progress, I don't know how much to show you all because I kinda don't want to spoil it, but then maybe that why you're all here? To observe the creative process in all it's frustrating and erogenous details. I could just give you all like an update at the end of any time I make progress if you like? Would mean that when it's done there wouldn't be anything to surprise you but maybe being along for the journey is more exciting anyway? I don't know, share your thoughts :3
Anyway, I'm doing a mix of low detail animation and higher detail animation with less frames. The low detail bodies let me animate much faster and so I can do more frames and get nice smooth motion in a reasonable time. The more detailed drawings will have much less frames and any large movements will be key-framed rather than drawn frame by frame, whether I use one or the other comes down to which I think is best for communicating what I want to show. I don't plan these at all, I just get an idea and start adding scenes and bits until it hopefully concludes into a finished thing. this is bad, I should defiantly script and story board first... but I DON'T WANNA AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME :3
And the un-censored bit's are in the attachments if you wanna peek 'em <3
And I have a few screenshots of ToonSquid with me working on it.
Scotty, I put a shot of the camera panning thing in there for you ( In case you don't already know, when you press 'add layer' there is an option for a camera, you can then resize and keyframe movement for it as you please, very handy)
Then there's my frame-by-frame animation process; I draw outlines and use onion skinning to fill in all the frames, then I colour them individually on a separate drawing layer while fighting the self destructive urge inside me to add highlighting and shadows to each frame too!
Last is the Library, which is the thing you use to keep your project organised. I have found that it is ESSENTIAL to use this and keep it really well organised when doing something even mildly complex. It's really heartbreaking when you literally just lose a clip you spent time and effort on animating, not to a failure to save or a hardware failure , but because you just can't find it because it was called "Unnamed" and you have 30+ other clips also called "Unnamed" in the same folder.
So yeah, LOVE YOU
