Always Sunny 14x03 'Dee Day' Full Length Reaction

that scene is perfect lol. I love the choice to have some handsome dapper gentleman show up first before the Dennis reveal. Then Dennis says the absolute worst thing possible every second of the scene. It is torture lmfao

I want an episode called “Charlie Day”, where Charlie doesn’t understand the concept, and keeps saying “My name is Charlie Kelley, not Charlie Day!!!”

i didn't say they have to meet my rules, this is my subjective opinion lol i just didn't like it. your attitude taken to an extreme has led to men's sexual assault not being taken seriously. i think a history of women being more the victims and darker skinned people being abused and marginalized is always important to remember but i don't believe doing the opposite of what was wrong in the past makes it funny or edgy now. i know charlie and glenn howerton didn't care lol i don't mean the actors but how they portrayed it and the double standard. i'm not a fan of that scene. i still gave this episode props this is not that big a deal to me, not trying to convince anyone.. but i also just want to make where i'm coming from is clear

Because it’s funny when it’s two guys and I don’t think Charlie or Dennis cared to do it because they thought it was funny. Their humor doesn’t have to meet ur rules. And sometimes things are perceived different because of gender. Not everything has to be tic for tac

i feel some y'all are either making excuses or pretending to miss my point. Jay got it. if it was a man doing this to two women who didn't want to kiss and aren't gay, it would be seen as sick and perverse. when it's a woman doing it to 2 guys, it's light and playful. Jay makes the fairest point that could be made here, that the social context and stigmas are different , i just don't agree that makes it ok. or funny. it feels like an over-correction on part of female writers who want to enjoy their double standard and just reverse all the problematic stuff male writers would do back in the day. forcing straight men or women to kiss is fucking weird way to get a laugh imo

Russian Paul

If writing a play where 2 straight actors have to kiss each other is worse than anything the gang has ever done, then we're going to need to be making a lot of arrests, because that happens all the time.

I mean...I get where you're coming from. You are correct, they would not film a scene where Dennis makes two girls kiss when they clearly don't want to. But what would the joke be? That Dennis is a creep? They can make that joke without it, and have done so effectively for 16 seasons. The joke isn't that she's making two men kiss so she can get off on it or because it's sexy, the joke is she's making them kiss because heterosexual men are (typically) HIGHLY uncomfortable with kissing another man on the lips, as Charlie even says that he's just not "there" yet. So Dee is....continuing to mess with them the best way possible. The historical, cultural, and social context and stigmas around the two scenarios are different enough that I see no issue with the scene. Just my .02.

Dennis has CANNNDY?

You sound insane brother

Rawgers

the closest they went is the st paddys episode with dennis being creepy to the 2 girls in the paddy wagon. the difference is 1) he didn't make them touch each other in any way 2) the whole joke was dennis is a creep and psycho. the joke here was dennis and charlie being uncomfortable not that dee is a psycho.

Russian Paul

the gang does all kinds of terrible things to men and women but forcing 2 women to actually do things with each other when they clearly don't want to is a line they wouldn't cross. at least not showing it in full cringey detail. it's a double standard. the scene wouldn't happen with a gleeful man directing 2 uncomfortable women. if you think that it would then we can agree to disagree there

Russian Paul

I love the scene of dennis without makeup. His confidence is so fragile. His narcissistism crumbles so quickly as soon as he feels out of his element or less then perfect. We see it when dee calls him fat, with the chemical peal and hair dye when he thought he peaked, his ridiculous fasting and the fact that he wears foundation, concealer, mascara, peck pads, neck tap, and hair chalk at least every single day. He doesn't even pursue women because he finds them attractive, but because he wants to prove to himself and the world that they find him attractive. He acts like this leader but deep down he is desperate for the approval of the rest of the gang.

Veronica

I don't agree at all, the gang force women to do uncomfortable things all the time. They are constantly objectfying women and both mac and dennis have objectified lesbians. Pretty much all the gang members male or female have sexually abused eachother and others. The joke isn't two guys kissings, its charlie and dennis in ridiculous costumes kissing unfortunately long while dee watches. If you are talking about behind the scenes, listen to glenn talk about trying to make charlie and katlin as uncomfortable as possible when they had their make out scene, there is no double standard.

Veronica

i really dislike the part where dennis and charlie kiss. i feel like this megan ganz showing her double standards. forcing two uncomfortable women to kiss would not be allowed as a butt of a joke even on sunny, but if it's guys it's all good. as a gay dude i don't find it funny or hot to make straight guys kiss. other than that the episode isn't as bad as i recall, the main highlight of course is dennis sans mojo which is always gold

Russian Paul

Cheers mate! Appreciate it
