I don't like monster, EXCEPT for the specific brand 'Monster Nitro: Super Dry" It's 'infused with nitrous oxide' and I have no idea what that even means, but I DO know that it results in a flavor that I love to death and I haven't really touched any other flavor of energy drink sense. I am actually trying to quit energy drinks due to health reasons, but you should totally give it a try if it's available in australia, it got me out of red bull entirely.

2024-05-17 06:05:48 +0000 UTCbuuuuut as i'm constantly told we are meant to laugh at the gang and not identify with them. the gang represents the anti-woke conservatives (as if only conservatives have an issues with it) and we are to laugh at them. yes the gang makes good points but they are the butt of the joke in the episode. everything they say is supposed to be a straw man of the social conservative position which is aimed at a liberal audience to condescendingly laugh at. i just find it funny when on one hand i'm told that if you ever identify with anything the gang does, then you missed the point of the show and didn't realize the show was making fun of you all along (as people say who assume i'm some right winger for bringing up these points) buuuut now when i have some legit criticism of their later seasons suddenly we're supposed to agree with the gang...sometimes. it's like having your cake and eating it too. the gang here is obviously the joke and the lady is the "straight man" dealing with their lunacy. so the good points they did bring up are portrayed as conservative talking points to be mocked.

The entire episode is centered around liberal PC ruining movies and how it USED to be just conservatives who were concerned about nudity but now liberals do it too for other reasons (gratuitous, etc). Charlie literally tells her to fuck off, lol. Yea, we get her responses and saying it's about money, but the show still absolutely hammers the liberal PC stuff.

2024-05-15 08:48:58 +0000 UTCtrue they attempt it in that episode, i'll give them that. the fact their characters would care is odd though, same with the bathroom episode, its out of character that they're trying to even appease liberal sensibilities. and 15x2 is just not as funny as the previous installments (no spoilers). not sure woke has lost meaning, words can change over time and i think the consensus is it now refers to an insincere cynical using of identity whether to distract from economics or divide the rabble against each other or for cheap financial gain etc.... ever since you mentioned Rob listens to NPR (i think that was you) and bases a lot of what the gang does in opposition to mainstream liberal norms, it just makes so much more sense to me. they're coming from a very limited prism of choosing a side in the culture war because NPR is very limiting, at the end of the day it upholds duopoly, there are mainstream liberal and conservative outlets that are propped up by the establishment and give each "side" the overton window of what is allowed. it would be just as limiting if someone who listens to FOX and then creates strawmen liberal characters to mock.

2024-05-14 05:04:03 +0000 UTCdecent enough episode but it irks me a bit that they only go after low hanging fruit. rather than address the issues with how hollywood tries to woke-ify things now as a cover for not coming up with anything original, or how identity issues are co-opted by corporate interests, it comes across as just really punching down on social conservatives. or maybe not punching down but taking sides in a left vs right culture war rather than mock both sides from a birds eye view.
