It doesn't matter how funny or unfunny this episode was. The same people who cry about movies like Ocean's 8 were going to cry about this.
Plus those people rarely understand the kind of commentary Always Sunny regularly does.

i'll give it credit most of this is better than i remembered, mostly cause kaitlin olson is so fucking funny. Frank's bit is great too. but the puke scene is still an instant skip for me lol.

Personally I really enjoy this episode and the meta commentary

Dean, I for one appreciate your newfound perspective towards rainy days.
I think the problem with this episode is it proved its point too well. Female reboots of classics will never be as fun. Not because women aren’t funny, but because it always comes across as “See?? Women are funny!!”, which just reeks of preachy desperation. The women’s Ghostbusters wasn’t that good, but Bridesmaids was great…same bunch of funny women. The difference was that one is a reboot, and the other is an original idea. So this episode kind of overdid making its point by not being as fun as the original.
And “A League of Their Own” is an incredible movie.

interesting. i don't think it's good for us either way so i keep my distance. but that's just an extra reason to avoid lol

yea, this happened once before in season 2 not as noticeable, a little discrepancy with when frank banged the waitress chronologically. this sticks out more because the waiter says something very specific that hasn't happened yet. for whatever reason they wanted to move that episode to the end of the season. a bit sloppy on their part

Honestly, every time i rewatch an episode i didn't like, I end up liking it a lot more the 2nd or 3rd time. This show is the gift that keeps on giving.

No disagreement, Soy is a phytoestrogen (plant based estrogen) the debate comes from whether phytoestrogens cause the same effects as regular estrogen or not.

It's not my favorite, but it's a decent episode. The ending gross out is probably the only real rough part for me.

there's probably disagreement among nutritionists but soy is thought to cause estrogen to spike in men. so a soy boy is the same as a beta cuck lol emasculated weak etc

the order of episodes got moved around, the reference the waiter made to moving to Minnesota and waiting on them at the super bowl hasn't happened yet

I only watch season 13 once. And on second watch this was funnier than I remember. Nothing compared to a good old sunny episode but still not as trash as I thought

Thanks for saving me the time of gathering my thoughts. They weren't "intentionally writing it to be a bad episode". You can still poke fun at the reboot concept while also having funny jokes. It just wasn't. The writers for this episode are credited for writing 5 episodes in the entire season. One of those was good. The other 4 are easily in the bottom 20 episodes if not in the bottom 10.

also i will say that while i don't think this season is as bad as it gets made out to be, there is a difference in tone. i think at a certain point, they themselves weren't too sure what to do with it and where to go with it. glenn was tired and everyone else feels a bit jaded too at this point. however, i think there was a choice to be made and them continuing to go forward speaks a lot about the love they have for their project and after this lull, it does get better again in my opinion and their spark seems to return. but i definitely feel like this season was a defining moment for them in choosing rather to move on or stick with it.

i don't buy the idea this episode was meant to be this bad. and even if that is the case, i don't agree with the tactic of wasting an episode just to make an obvious point about uninspired reboots, that most people already agree with.
there were jokes in the episode that felt like they were supposed to land but didn't. the overall vibe and dynamic between the characters felt forced and this continues on and off from here on out.
they don't always have the same organic back n forth like in older seasons when it really felt like i was watching a group of friends. in these later seasons it often feels like i'm watching them read their lines.
there's a handful of other episodes that feel like they base it around a concept or certain social commentary they want to make, at the expense of the actual comedy.
all that complaining out the way, i do love the next 2 episodes, especially the next one

I agree totally about the remake thing... they even referenced a GREAT original movie about women and one of my favorite sports movies ever " a league of their own "

it's always sunny always gets meta in their commentaries like in the gang tries to win an award etc. this episode is commentary on the reboots of classic movies and shows but swapping the genders. it oftentimes doesn't work and falls flat and feels forced. they intentionally did the same with this episode and i thought it was brilliant. as a girl i never understood why all the remakes. who is asking for an all girls oceans or an all girls ghostbusters? give us original stories with original characters again. another elle woods for example or mia thermoplois. original female characters with original stories. i love the commentary of this episode. it's one of their meta ones and to me, it works. i know others think it falls flat but i always appreciated what they were going for

Idk why everyone thinks this is a bad episode - the jokes land, and the concept of the satire works as intended. Not one of the very best, but nowhere near one of the show's worst.

Right. But she’s an annoying one. Dee and all the guys are alcoholics too. But not hot mess annoying ones like the waitress is. I just find her drunkness annoying and not funny

the waitress at this point has been known to be an alcoholic… so not sure what you mean lol

It just isn't a good episode. It's not the worst thing ever, but for Sunny, it's just not good. The next episode is GOOD

although i dont think its one of the funniest episodes, i really dont think its that bad either like every sunny fan thinks. the waitress being an annoying drunk is the only thing that puts me off from this episode. I found the other women funny, but obviously not as funny as main crew

I think this might be one the worst episode of the show... but I think it's kind of intentional in a way. It's making fun of all the reboots that happened during this time when people thought " new ideas " where just swapping out genders and making the same exact movie. Actually after watching it again I like this episode a little better than Frank's Brother and another episode you have not seen yet. I think 90% of the episode is ok, but the end really brings it down for me.

It actually was intentionally written to be not as good as the original lol. This was made the same time that the all-female Ghostbusters and Oceans 8 remakes were coming out and being panned in comparison to the originals so they did the same thing with the Boggs’ challenge. Recycle the same concepts but make them not work because you’re shoehorning them onto different characters.

One of the worst episodes of the show imo, it just didn’t work
