Maybe he thought he was gonna catch one of the characters slackin' or something... altering the overall final outcome of that read-through? Y'know?? Like maybe ole Mr Tumnis was out back smokin' a cig & missed his queue one time... leaving Lil Lucy to get snatched up by some new evil Narnia super-villain, & then disappearing forever... Hmm?? Now that'd be a crazy & unexpected twist you'd hate to had missed out on bc you didn't re-read it for a 9th time, right? Idk, maybe he was onto something. Lmao
