2023-11-29 18:25:03 +0000 UTCThis is pretty much the most meta episode ever aired. Once you get that and rewatch, almost every line and situation in the entire episode is brilliant. It may not be the funniest or best episode (though it is awesome), but it is definitely one of the smartest.

Some of the other setups were references to newer shows on their network (FX) that had already won awards awards. The "Suds" bar in this episode had won a bunch of awards, and it contained a bunch of sitcom tropes (the cheesy jokes, the "will they or won't they" couple romance with main characters, and the ringing of the bell telling everyone to drink represented how other sitcoms use laugh tracks telling them when to laugh). There's way more but that's the gist of it .

I think the bar they go to is supposed to be like new girl, and the burlesce (cant spell) is louis ck show, was on the same network that won awards "right down the road". Also some of the comments involve when the show aired. They bring in the office guy to up their game. Probly missed something there, theres so much meta in this one

There are some specific references in the episode: Sudz - is all the common shows like Big Bang Theory and the drink bell is a reference to those shows using laugh tracks to tell the viewer when to laugh Bar that just opened up down the street and already won awards - is Louise Black bars don’t win awards - The Wire The burlesque/dark show - Boardwalk Empire Such a well written episode

2023-11-29 13:45:46 +0000 UTCif you didnt catch it, the whole episode is about how sunny has never won awards even though its funnier than all the cheesy shows that are cookie-cutter jokes and have a token black guy and catchy jingles and romances. The show Louie won a few emmys right before they made this even though sunny had the best ratings Edit: Nvm, Hendo caught on to that. Good catch haha
