In a sense, Community is about to more or less commit to a gimmick that some/many fans see as an improvement on an already great formula. You'll know, and you'll definitely have fun with it - but yeah, don't expect the writing to magically get any sharper than it already is. S1 is already such a good season, and I feel like many shows suffer from people misremembering the early efforts, maybe precisely because the best ones get better as they go. With variety-driven sitcoms like this, even barely maintaining the high original quality is a huge achievement, and Community just delivers on that premise. Reminds me of people saying that Breaking Bad S1 is super slow, when in fact they set up literally everything in some seven short episodes. Funny how time bubbles work.
