Demons Within Update 13 devlog: The ACTUAL Update 13 content and development

It's been a while since we had a devlog! Since I took a bit of a detour to finish up and release the collaboration, the last one or two devlogs covered mostly that. There was a LOT of work in getting that off the ground, but from now on, the collaboration shouldn't take so much time from either me nor Raus, as we have everything prepared to just insert new content of the story as it gets created. Save, of course, for a small fix or improvement here or there, but that's only natural!
I lost an entire week or a week and a half of the collaboration work time working on the new Essence wheel. Check that out if you haven't! For those who have downloaded update 12.5 and played it, I'm sure you guys have already seen it in action! I think it's a big improvement over what we had, and on making the game look and feel nicer overall. I'm very happy with it. :)
The essence wheel as well as other small improvements to the game overall, will be added with Update 13. But enough of what has already been! Let's talk a little bit about what's coming.
I think I've already mentioned the obvious that Update 13 will continue exactly from where Update 12 has left off. I never meant to take extra time between these two updates; it just happened! I apologize for that cliffhanger!
The current development of Update 13, now that I've been working hard on it, is, I'd say... 70% of the writing done. I can pretty much say that Update 13 will deal with the resolution of the events of Update 12 and then dealing with what comes after. All of the next updates are pretty exciting, in my opinion, so I hope you all will enjoy seeing all that stuff!
I definitely don't want to spoil what happens in Update 13, but what I think I can say for what to expect is: More Gunther, more Red-eyes, and a good chunk of Captain Garret moments as well. At least that's what's in the plans!
The story is reaching a well-planned culminating point and, well, we've had our chill and fun time. It should get a little more exciting from now on, at least for its majority. I still try to get a good feel and adjust the pace of things as best as I can for the best possible experience.
Aside from that, we'll see a few more small sprite variations in Update 13 and, I'm VERY happy to say, a handful of brand-new, original backgrounds! Some of them in the new scenes, some in old scenes retroactively, but it's GREAT stuff! Big, big shoutout and credit to TeoLeif, our talented new background artist, and to Vigil as well for making it all happen and provide lots of help and guidance on how to make them even better! I'll provide even better shoutouts in the game itself when it's released, but it's GREAT stuff! I'll share more previews of those too, when I can!
Alright, I think that's enough for now. Walls of text, as usual. As the development goes, I'll make a few more of these as soon as I have more to share and/or show. I can't make any hard promises, but I'm aiming to try and release Update 13 by the end of September at the latest. If nothing gets in the way now that I'm focusing entirely on it, it should happen. I'll keep you all updated!
