Demons Within Update 12 Devlog 3: The final touches...!

Hey hey!

It's time for another devlog ramble! My goal today is mostly to keep you all updated about the progress of the long-running Update 12. Once again, I apologize for the delay in getting it out. It's a bit out of the schedule already, and I've been very aware of that! I'll elaborate a little on how things are going, what's going, and what we can expect. The short gist of it, however, is that it's almost done! Every day in the past two weeks, I've been alternating between coding and writing, which is a bit different from my usual process, but works this time since the update kinda comes in two parts.

The 'first' part, which is the story progression, is already written, reviewed and mostly coded up. Like, 95% of it. That's good news! Most of the new assets and stuff made for this update are in this part and they're already in and looking pretty. I really hope people will like what they see. It'll be full of surprises, I hope, even if not super long!

And the reason why it's not super long is because we still had the second part of this update pending, which was Edwin's time in the camping night. As expected, this update will end up being on the large side. Edwin's side, with all of its branching just like Ludwig had, is already at close to 5k words and expected to reach a few more thousands before it's fully done in all of its alternatives. As usual, I fail to keep the update at around 10k words and, like some of the previous times, this one will finish somewhere around 15 to 17k words. I mean, that means a bigger update, which is cool! But, as I've mentioned in the devlogs before, a bigger update takes exponentially longer to make as it takes more hours of coding, visuals, possibly more assets, etc...

No regrets, though! As always, I have a rough plan of what I want to put into each update and, though I adapt as best as possible, I never cut things short because of length. It is as big as it has to be for the game and story to be as best as it can be in my judgement.

That being said, I DID plan for the new story content to go a little farther than it did, so if you don't like the point where the story stops in Update 12, blame the tiger! It'll continue in Update 13, though, and since the continuation of the story has a few key things I wanted to take some time making extra assets for, it worked out pretty well.

Alright, so, the current progress is that I'm at the very end of Edwin's night writing and pretty much done with the visuals for the new content already. All that's left is to finish up with Edwin's night, get it through reviews, and then code up its visuals. It'll take a bit, but not too long. If possible, I'm aiming for, at the very least, a beta by the end of next week. As all my Patreon veterans know, the full version usually knows shortly after the beta, so... soon! SOON!

I'm extremely excited about the contents of this update. I think I mentioned in one of the earlier devlogs that I've had these events in my head for a long time and it's great to finally get them out. I'm happy with how they turned out, too! SOME key people will be extremely happy with what we'll see in Update 12. It's been heavily requested... Like, heavily.

That's all I'll say!

As always, of course, as soon as I feel like things are finished up enough, I'll announce the release date for the beta version and then, you know the deal! Patreon release soon after! I'll keep you all posted. ;)

Hahah! xD Maybe that wasn't the best wording to use. I wish I were that smart! I mean that there are a bunch of different things that different groups of people who love different characters ask for a lot, and one of them is coming in this update... :3
