The Rings Of Power 1x3 Reaction

I've paused at around 15mins to write this, so sorry if you guys have spoken about it later on in the video. Halbrand and Aragorn aren't related I don't think. The kingdom of Numenor would be where Aragorn's ancestors are from - Elendil/Isildur etc. Raven mentioned Aragorn being in love - the elf he loves is Arwen who is Elrond's daughter, not Galadriel - Galadriel is the one whom Frodo/Aragorn etc go to after Gandalf dies in the first LOTR movie. She is Arwen's maternal grandmother. Again, sorry if this is clarified later in the video, but I wanted to comment in case I forgot later.

I thought this episode was a solid 4/5. It seems like there's a lot of mystery but honestly it just depends on how much of the lore you know. Galadriel changing her energy is because that's just how elves move, they can have a lot of respect for someone if they know their language, so Galadriel knew if someone spoke that tongue that she had potential allies to get her out of there faster than if she waited for the Queen's judgement - since her and the queen were being icy with each other. The elf slave story I thought was tough. Orcs are rumored to have been tortures elves so if they're keeping my man alive after his failed escape attempt, they might end up turn him into the most crud-filled orc ever. Harfoot storyline was also good but it did slow the episode down. And tbh the whole establishing shots thing that the show loves to do is straight from the LOTR trilogy. It actually does it less than LOTR, which is a bit mad to say about LOTR. But anyways its something most people who regularly rewatch LOTR movies are fully used to and love, seeing nice scenery like that and getting properly plugged in. The Galadriel horse shot was mad weird and unlike anything in LOTR tho. As for the wizard in the tower, Raven's referring to Saruman who's the leader of the wizards. There's 5 wizards in this order mentioned by Gandalf, and in the Lotr and Hobbit trilogy there's only 3 that actually appear (Gandalf the grey, Saruman the white, Radagast the brown). The wizards are basically just angels who shape the course of history. Given the familiarity that Gandalf has with Hobbits, this guy could be him, but I'm more inclined to believe its one of the two wizards we haven't seen (Gandalf mentions the blue wizards). This show has a big opportunity to expand on that lore, since these beings are insanely powerful and can be corrupted (like Saruman was by Sauron).

Without spoilers, i have a theory on who Halbrand is and if im right, he is extremely important. Also the Tolkien estate had a stipulation that they had to do at least 5 seasons.. so the first 3 episodes have done a good job of introducing the characters. Also take a lot of notice of character names in Numenor.. veeeery interesting.
