Trifecta Playlist

1. Cool for the Summer - Demi Lovato: In Trifecta and Where the Heart Is, I have these ACT songs that kind of set the tone for the following three chapters or so until the next ACT. It's something I like using and I probably will more in the future. Anyways this is just like that summer fling, young love bullshit that Malex is all about in the beginning.

2. Do I Wanna Know - Arctic Monkeys: Two scenes spring to mind from this song. The party that Alex takes Marley too and then the conversation in Alex's room that happens the next day where Marley kisses Alex out of the blue.

3. Toes - Lights

4. White Blank Page - Mumford and Sons: Most of the songs I have on this playlist make me feel like they're coming from Marley but this one feels a lot more like Alex and the frustrated, angry energy she has right before the chapter's end.

5. Instant Crush - Daft Punk feat. Julian Casablancas

6. What You Know - Two Door Cinema Club: Not so much a scene it reminds me of, but I was listening to this song again recently and it's got a sort of morbid foreshadowing to it if you put it in the POV of Marley thinking about Lilah and her relationship with her in general.

7. Bad Blood - Bastille: After the Halloween get together, when Marley is about to leave and she's stopped by Alex. The whole interaction that happens from then on is all reflected through this song pretty well.

8. Temple of Thought - Poets of the Fall

9. Probably Wouldn't be this Way - LeAnn Rimes: Probably the most spot on of all my ACT songs. It just captures the sadness and slow descent of Marley throughout Lilah's illness.

10. November was White, December was Grey - Say Hi

11. Sonny - Newfound Glory

12. Weak and Powerless - A Perfect Circle: Alex and Marley's, let's be honest, slightly uncomfortable hookup. The mindset that Marley has is very destructive and careless to herself and everyone around her and I think this track, especially the bridge, captures that perfectly.

13. Everlong - Foo Fighters

14. American Baby - Dave Matthews Band

15. You Haunt Me - Sir Sly: When Marley goes to visit Lilah's grave for the first time and all the frustrations she has with herself and her work and just everything comes out. I often feel like the lyrics of this track are a conversation from Marley to Lilah, it just fits well.

16. Sweater Weather - The Neighbourhood: Everything from the beginning of the beach scene with Malex to the conclusion of the chapter are within this song. It's a pretty spot on track and there's a lot of fun parallels to dig into if you so wish.
