What Happened To Me This Week

I thought I should update you all on what's been been happening with me, for the benefit of those who haven't seen my twitter.

Basically, I have had a hell of a time this past week or so. In a remarkable display of bad luck, even for me, I fell ill twice in less than a week with two different things, one of which was potentially life-threatening.

First was a stomach problem, which was thoroughly unpleasant, but at least only lasted a few days. However, a matter days after I had recovered from that, I fell ill again. I started coughing up blood and developed severe breathing problems and I had to call an amulance and be taken to hospital.

After various tests and x-rays and scans, it was discovered I had a pulmonory embolism, which is blood clots in the lungs. In my case, I had two clots, one in each lung. And yeah, it is as serious as it sounds. I was told that if I hadn't got medical help as quickly as I did, it could have been fatal. Which is a very scary thought that I try not to linger on.

But the important thing is, I did get immediate medical help. I spent about 5 days in hospital before I was well enough to be allowed to come home yesterday evening. I've still got a fair bit of recovering to do, and I'm going to be taking medication for this thing for at least three months, probably longer. But I'm doing OK, feeling a lot better than I was, and continue to get improve.

In terms of what this means for the Patreon, I am very sorry, but any update for this month is likely to be small and/or late. I need to try get back into the swing of things and working on art and can't be certain how long that will take. I do definitely want to get something done and posted for you all for this month, but the events of the past week have really set me back, so it will probably not be very much. I'm hoping next month will be a lot better as I get back up to speed and continue to recover.
