"Afterlife" (Avenged Sevenfold) Solo Lesson/Analysis
Added 2025-03-14 18:47:55 +0000 UTCThis week it's time to tackle Avenged Sevenfold's most infamous (for good reason) solo - Afterlife! An incredibly fun and demanding workout for your picking speed, sweeping speed and sliding.
This bonkers solo features all of Synyster Gates' trademark moves such fast chromatic extensions on top of arpeggios (a la Gypsy Jazz); extremely large, exaggerated slides; harmonized duelling leads; and super fast 2 string picking patterns.
While this solo may seem intimidating (okay it is a bit) the goal here isn't to be crazy precise, but rather it's more about the attitude, energy and feel. This solo is a perfect opportunity to practice switching off your brain and just letting it rip!
