"Play With Me" (Extreme) Solo Lesson/Analysis
Added 2025-02-27 19:40:04 +0000 UTCI'm deviating slightly from the song requests this time and going over an all time personal favorite solo of mine: "Play With Me" by Extreme!
Nuno's playing was a massive inspiration to me when I was younger, it's just the perfect fusion of funky Blues playing and modal playing - the best of both worlds! This solo in particular caught my attention, largely because of its neoclassical nature, but it's just so damn fun and really went a long way in teaching me how to inject a certain light-hearted playfulness into my playing.
Despite the fact this solo is over 35 years old it's still pretty damn tricky! Those monstrous muted string-skips are no joke and will require an insane amount of left hand dexterity.
