"Mr Crowley" (Ozzy Osbourne) Solos Transcription & Lesson/Analysis
Added 2024-02-24 14:42:31 +0000 UTCIt's one of my missions as part of the Guitar School to accurately transcribe all famous and highly requested Metal guitar solos, so that you guys have peace of mind when learning them and don't have to deal with dubious online tabs.
Next on the list are the 2 legendary solos from "Mr Crowley" by Ozzy Osbourne!
This solo was insanely ahead of its time for 1980 and features some pretty harmonically adventurous licks that you just didn't hear at all in this time period. Funnily enough though, the more unusual licks and modal stuff is actually the easier stuff to play in these solos, with the hardest parts definitely being the "Blues slop" haha. The opening few bars are probably the hardest due to the "free" and semi-improvised nature of them - don't beat yourself up trying to get these parts 100% accurate as that's not really the point. This solo is a great lesson in knowing which parts to learn note-for-note and which parts to be more lax and improvisational.

2024-02-28 00:52:24 +0000 UTCCool awesome, also at the end of the Crowley solo there is an awesome lick that wasn’t in here although when trying to play that I feel that we would not have a great place to stop since the song fades out, it’s the A: 5-3-5 D:3 A: 5-3-5 at the very end as he’s fading out it sounds so cool especially live when keeps playing licks after it!

2024-02-28 00:26:43 +0000 UTCI have a solo request, it is I’m guessing incredibly hard, it’s TTFAF, but I’m guessing it’s too long to do In one video so maybe you could do a 2 or 3 parter, it’s fast that when you try using tabs online it sounds like shit the way they transcribe it but I’d trust you to know how to play it right!
