"Symphony Of Destruction" (Megadeth) Solo Transcription & Lesson/Analysis

Continuing on this mini series of transcribing and analyzing various famous solos, this week we're looking at the legendary solo to Megadeth's "Symphony Of Destruction". What I LOVE about this solo is that it perfectly demonstrates how you can still create super cool, interesting when faced with playing over an incredibly simple, boring accompaniment.

As well as teaching you how to play this solo note-for-note, I also break it down and explain what's going on behind the scenes, such as the heavy use of half-diminished runs and relative-major arpeggios. There are some ridiculously cool concepts going on in this solo which you can easily incorporate into your own playing!

Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

Love this solo from the genius MF, great class!

Big thanks for this lesson and especially the theory breakdown. I was going nuts over the F half diminished bit thinking how Marty emphasis the 6th note (C) so tastefully

Brad, great video but you know what I would love to see you do. Take a somewhat simple (intermediate level) lick and show 20 different ways to use it. Also, show how to use this ll same lick in different genres like metal, to Rock to Prog etc. everyone does video on how exercise bit doesn’t show how to use it different way or tweak it etc.
