Learning The Modes Pt.2: The Chord-Scale System

As Rock guitarists we often neglect chords in favor of riffing and soloing, and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, if you REALLY want to elevate your understanding of guitar and music to the next level then it's absolutely essential that you understand the fundamentals of chord theory.

In this lesson I'll be showing the awesome Chord-Scale System and how you can use it to figure out all the chords in any given Major or Minor key! This is one of the single most important pieces of music theory you can learn and will be instrumental in helping you master the Modes later on.

Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

Brad-I've been taking private lessons for a while now with an incredible musician/teacher. He actually recommended that I check out other teachers online to help tie things together and to give me ideas on things I could focus on with him. YOur courses have been a gold mine for me in that regard. I have learned SO much more in the last couple of months since joining your channel just because you have introduced me to theory and concepts I would not have come up with on my own. This modes course, in particular, and the series on songwriting have been priceless. Keep doing what you're doing, man. You are helping sooo many people get better at something they love. Thank you!!

This is great thanks. It made it feel very simple. Right, to memorising chords!

When you said B major I was thinking shit is really coming together because I had wrote out the chords to B major because I liked the sound of E Lydian, So I knew them right off the bat although you may THINK you have it all down but when it comes time to play it in time theres usually a memory gap or 3 here and there.

I really really know what is covered here. The problem is that it took me 40 years. But dammit I know it now. Been playing with the chords just mixing them up and melodies to tend to pop up. Not sure what to do next.

You're a lot more serious teaching rather than the usual LMAO stuff on your youtube channel lol. I am glad I have found your channel. If not I would have been paying a shit load of money into something that may or may not be beneficial. Thank you Bradly you've saved my pockets from going empty lol.
