Jessica Jones | S1 E13 | "AKA Smile" | (UNEDITED)

Hey guys!!

WHAT. A. FUCKING. FINALE.

Jessica FINALLY snapped Kilgrave’s neck!!!! I damn near jumped out of my chair! The whole season built up to this moment, and it was glorious! Felt the tiniest bit anticlimactic, but it made total sense.

And Kilgrave… as much as I hated that little prick, he really was one of the best villains Marvel’s ever done. Charismatic, charming, disgusting, terrifying—every scene he was fucking nuts! Watching Jessica came as such a pleasant surprise for me, because I really didn't think I was going to like it this much.

She’s not some clean-cut superhero who saves the day and smiles for the camera. She’s scarred, angry, edgy, badass, and doesn't take shit from anybody. That’s why I loved this show so much. It felt real.

Season 1 of Jessica Jones was straight up one of the darkest, most human Marvel stories I’ve ever seen. Brilliant!

Love you all, and thank you for taking this journey with me <3

One of the best seasons of T.v period. Not just superhero shows. I remember when the trailer for this show aired and straight off the bat I had that rare feeling that this show was gonna be something special. Jessica has since been one of my favoourite characters ever written and Kilgrave is one of my favourite villains. Tackling topics of trauma and substance abuse/addiction whilst being a super hero show revolved around super strength and mind control being so well grounded is a real testiment to the writing and acting staff that worked on this show. Loved seeing you give this show the love it deserves because it's not one you hear people talk about often when it really does belong right near the top of superhero shows/movies of al time. :)

Kilgrave is a narcissistic psychopath. Narcissism alone is difficult to treat, full blown narcissistic personality disorder is even harder, and both require the narcissist themselves to want to change - a difficult prospect when the person generally believes themselves to be perfect. But Kilgrave, someone with both NPD and anti-social personality disorder (psycopathy)? You might as well ask Godzilla to go golfing…it’s just this side of impossible.

Jessica’s battle with Kilgrave was always a mind game. His death was never going to be some explosive, mind-blowing thing. Jessica outsmarted him and toyed with his emotions to finally catch him off guard, which I think is more or less what this season was building towards. Always important to remember too that The Defenders series are “street level,” meaning that you’re hardly ever going to get some enormous, cinematic action piece as a finale.
