The Bad Batch | S1 E14 | "War Mantle" | (UNEDITED)

Hey guys!!

This episode was fucking INSANE from the jump!! The whole vibe was super heavy and emotional. Seeing the clones getting pushed out and replaced makes so much more sense. I was always a little confused on the main differences between clones and storm troopers, and now I know!

And then Gregor shows up like some crazy ass wombat who just escaped the Empire’s prison camp. I totally think this was one of the coolest operations in the entire show so far. The tension was suffocating, actually. Made my gooch tighten up. Legitimately, the episode felt like it was 2 minutes long because I was so captivated.

This is EXACTLY the kind of Star Wars shit I love! Banger episode!!

Love you guys,

Alex

Stormtroopers actually have incredible aim but their helmets limit them. It was seen in rebels when Rex struggled to aim while wearing a helmet and when he takes it off he can aim again. It shows that even highly trained clones struggle to aim in stormtrooper armour simply because they limit visibility so much

Ik this is late, but Stormtroopers are good shots when it doesn’t involve any main characters that appear on screen. Remember in a new hope when Vader captured Leia? The rebels on that ship only killed 6 storm troopers and the empire killed between 15-21 rebels. When they go up against ppl who aren’t important to the plot, or u are a writer for Andor, they’re really good

Remember the first episode had the back and forth about conscription of the population vs clones.

Gregor suffered brain damage when he survived that explosion during Clone Wars (which is why he acts a bit crazy, especially in Rebels), and he had also suffered amnesia before that when he crashed his ship. So his chip was likely damaged, either making it useless or just weakening its effects, kinda like what happened with Echo. Also, I believe the idea is that the chips lose their effect over time, since their main purpose was to execute order 66, which is why we start getting more deserting clones (like Howzer questioning orders)

i don’t get it, if gregor still has his chip at this point, how can he just “decide” to desert, i thought the chip completely took over after order 66

stormtroopers are meant to be expert marksman, and are for the most part, its just that the characters these movies and shows follow have insane plot armor

If this made you tighten up then I can’t wait for you to watch andor. It does such a good job showing how much sacrifice the rebels truly made to take down the empire.

The thing with stormtroopers is that it is a job. Unlike clones who are made to be soldiers, stormtroopers can be regular everyday people who either have no work or who need to provide for their family. That's why many stormtroopers have worse aim than clones, because their just doing a job that they don't wanna put in to much effort in to. That's also why many people were loyal to the empire because in a way, the empire provided for them and made life possible for themselves and their families

There’s also the fact that Stormtrooper gear is inferior to what the Clone Army used in almost every way. Also, Imperial training mirrors the Sith method of constantly pitting them against one another in competition. They’re also mostly used to being the big, scary troops ordering around civilians. The Clone Army was literally a band of brothers with a singular purpose, the best training, and the best gear. The Imperial Army is more like a bunch of solo Battlefield players, out for their own score.

The thing with Stormtroopers is, they're essentially the "Grunts" of the Empire, but we're usually following an unusually skilled team of characters in these Star Wars shows / movies So we're seeing either, a highly trained squad of elite clones (Bad Batch), the literal A-Team of the Rebellion, (Luke, Leia, Han etc) , and Phoenix Squadron, a very skilled rebel crew (Rebels, though Rebels does very openly mock the whole "Haha stormtroopers can't aim" idea) Some Stormtroopers are uber patriotic about the Empire, and some of them are just normal dudes trying to make ends meat, There's certain units of Stormtroopers that are known as being better, like the 501st Legion (Vaders personal legion, descended from of course, Rex and the blue boys) Andor takes a pretty refreshing approach to, well depicting the empire as a whole, but Stormtroopers by extension, excited to see your take on that down the line!
