Ok. I get it. I do. I get why this movie means so much to people now!
This movie wasn’t just badass fucking fighter jets and big egos, it had so much damn heart! Seeing young Tommy Cruise was super cool and made me laugh! Dude was a cocky little sonofabitch. But underneath all that snarkiness badass flying scenes, the movie is really about connection. Brotherhood. Loss. Growth. It honestly surprised the hell out of me!
Tom Cruise was electric! I love fitting that word in when I can. The flying sequences were insane! And yeah, that volleyball scene was something, but halfway through this movie I realized I actually felt like I genuinely CARED about these guys. It hit harder than I expected.
I see now why this became such a classic. It’s not just the action. It’s the feeling it leaves you with. Adrenaline, emotion, some spicy sex scenes... it was GLORIOUS!

Top Gun was the movie that introduced most moviegoers to Val Kilmer in the role of Iceman, but Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holliday in Tombstone is just an iconic performance in one of the best westerns of all time. And yeah, note my username, there's a reason it's been a part of my online identity for gaming and other stuff for a very long time. Also, non-spoiler heads up for Maverick, Val Kilmer is in it too, and Tom Cruise insisted that he have a role despite his health condition, it was a very standup thing for him to do.
