So I played the games and loved them first game to really make me cry and just fall in love with the storyline. The shows done a decent job at the adaptation and gives more of a storyline for the characters and more dialogue, but Craig mazden is just a terrible writer in the sense of reducing Ellie's fierceness and anger in the games to on the screen. I just saw Neil will not be helping with season 3 and honestly I do not have high hopes for the third season now given how the episodes have been then Craig did. I'm still going to watch it and love it but overall it's a 7 and a 1/2 out of 10. The hate on Bella Ramsey is just ridiculous they're doing the best they can given the writing. I hope they don't butcher Tommy's storyline next season either. He was a beast!

Some of the writing decisions just doesn’t make since at some points including the directing. The hate against Bella Ramsay is a lil bit unwarranted as I don’t believe she’s not given a fair shot to portray Ellie as this Ellie is a lot different then game Ellie which is fine, but a 19 year old going on a revenge tour shouldn’t be all smiles and giggly and etc. It doesn’t feel like a revenge story, the 2 game is very grim and dark and depressing, for the show I think they try to down it down but I think they down it to much. I liked Jesse, and I liked Dina, and some other characters but some of the bad directors choices and writing kinda hurt the show and the actors who stilled find a way to give a good performance. This was a season that desperately needed an extra episode or 2 to help out the pacing and to give out more depth. I liked the 2nd game but there were problems like the pacing and some other small things that I thought the show could fix, but they over fixed it which causes more problems. The acting was 8/10 with strong performances from Pedro, wright, Merced and even Bella but some of the writing and directing of there characters hurts em. The set designs 10/10. The execution of the show 4/10, the writing and directing were the only things that hold back the show.

Wow, my experience is the same AND completely different, I loved the first one like you, but for me personally the second one was even better, I was in shock when we had to play as Abby and going through her story didn't even made me like her, but it made me interested in her story and character, at the start you are like "why should I care", but the direction, pacing, action and gameplay is amazing, so you kinda are with her even if you don't want it. You slowly get to understand her (not to like her!) and I was really invested in her part at that point. I have never played or wached anything else as emotionally draining and interesting as TLOU2 and it was an insane experience, I have no idea how people can just stop at the half of the game. Oh and I also wached a few Youtubers I like, but they had the same experience as me, not yours, maybe we both watch just people with similar tastes to ourself. I would even go so far and say that it might be the best story game of all time. Something unique to video games and you can see that they are kinda failing to make an equally amazing show out of it, because in this story it is not possible to create the same feelings or the viewer as they did for the gamer.

I mean, to be fair, even in the game, most of the 'friends' of Abby that Ellie kills, they kind of give her no choice in. In the game she goes out of her way as well to try and not kill them, just wanting to go for Abby, and they just basically keep throwing themselves on the sword, lol

I sort of get that, but there are things about this second season, that I think are better than the game. Primarily I prefer this version of Dina, over game Dina by a mile. It's not like I dislike game Dina, but she was never really THAT likeable either to me, and Isabela Merced for me personally really has added a lot to the character. Some of the way they did the lodge part with Joel's death, was handled a little better with certain logic parts etc. And although I still think that the attack on Jackson only makes Abby as a character worse and more of a hypocrite to me, it was a really awesome action sequence. But of course there are certain things that are less, and as much as I love the acting from Bella, Ashley Johnson will always be the true Ellie.

The big difference for me, and why it works in the game and I don’t think it works here… in the game, sure there’s this big cliffhanger and then you change to Abby’s perspective. But you can just continue playing to see the story. Vs here, ending it like this.. we’re probably gonna have to wait another 2+ years to see the next season. Maybe if it was confirmed to be doing this show one season a year it would work, but I don’t think so

There is still plenty I enjoyed about this season, but it’s like a 6 out of 10 for me. Some good, but it is just a lesser version of the game. And it probably isn’t helping that I am currently also playing though the second game. It’s still cool to see it adapted on the big screen; but a lot of the big moments from the game just aren’t hitting the same here. Still excited for next season. The second half of the game gets fucking insane.

Season 2 is fine so far. I wish they did keep some things the same but it is what it is Holy shit I just got to the part where Ellie shot Owen Just got to the end of the episode and how you feel at the end is how most people feel but then you have to spend 7 hours as Abby

To answer your question about how I personally feel about the show. I loved the first game and really really loved the second game, despite people's nastiness towards to game back when it was released. I personally like the show for what it is, an adaptation of an already great story. The slight changes to throw us off are welcomed and I've beefing enjoying as a viewer. The fact that ellie kills 4 people during this season is the only thing I didn't like. She is pretty ruthless in the game, which is understandable since it is a video game and we as players need some sort of challenge to counter these encounters. Pretty unrealistic from a view for the show in my opinion, so I get it. But maybe let ellie kill a little more people hahhaha

ignoring the actual game and all the hate online towards Bella (bc personally I think people are mad at nothing), S2 is good. Not great like S1, I think that the biggest flaw is the directing and writing of Ellie in this season, which is a shame bc everyone else is really good.

I'd love to see Alex play Resident Evil or any horror game. Can you imagine the reactions from Alex as he has to play through jump scares. I can just imagine him getting so scared and having his wife come in to get him by a certain area. lol

The first game was a masterpiece. The 2nd game started off good, up until the death of Joel. But even after that, I kept playing and loved the relationship of Ellie and Dina. I could feel Ellie's revenge while looking for Abby. THEN... the unthinkable. The game forced you to play as Abby which was a real turn off. Playing as Joel's killer made me hate playing and didn't give a shit. That is one of the rare times I had to stop playing a game and I've played... I'm not kidding... thousands of games for the past 40+ years. That's where I had to stop and just glanced at other people's playthrough where most had the same feeling as I did. Pewdeepie's reaction was priceless. My honest opinion, play through the first game then jump to a different game. The 2nd one can wait.
