Arcane | S2 E7 | "Pretend Like It's the First Time" | (UNEDITED)

Hey guys!

Total bitter-sweet moment today as we complete Arcane! This episode was FUCKING AMAZING! I've never experienced something like this: heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

Seeing what life COULD have been like. Although, it appeared to be a different dimension, but still. Seeing everyone alive and well, except Vi, absolutely crushed me.

Such a beautifully crafted episode! LOVED THIS ONE! I've seen a lot of people saying that Season 2 is not nearly as good as Season 1, and I don't necessarily agree with that!

Love you all so much!

Alex

Talking of the love for details.. i love the little detail that Powder dances the exact same way her mother does about 3 episodes ago, in the recap when she started the jukebox and told Vander and Silco that shes pregnant. One of many many little details that make this show so precious.

Yes and no. It's definitely high quality animation and shares some anime traits, mainly the very stylized and epic action and left of field rug pulls that arcane often does. Most accessible anime that's worth your time as a first-timer (and more importantly palatable by the majority of your viewers) and has some awesome twists and turns. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Attack on Titan - Death Note Those would be my picks in order. There's some other excellent anime out there, but in my opinion, they would be hit-or-miss as reaction video content for majority of viewers. Die hard anime fans will scoff at Arcane being lumped in with Anime, but its basically tied with FMA: Brotherhood for my favorite story epic animation.

As for your question about anime, yes, I think it is something you should really be exploring. I'm an old-school Otaku, who got into anime in the late 90s and early 2000s, so I'm going to strongly recommend shows like Cowboy Bebop (which I think you would really vibe with), Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist (probably Brotherhood), Fooly Cooly, and any of the Studio Ghibli movies. I'm going to advise against starting with the super long-running shows like Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon, and so forth. I think that you would be better served by watching something with a more consise time frame (like the ones listed above). I mean, hell, between Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, and Boruto, that's... literally 1013 episodes of Naruto content. That would make your MCU journey look like a bloody cake walk XD Oh, and... you'll get a lot of people who insist on subtitles over dubs, but... frankly, watch in whatever language works for you. A lot of dubs haven't been great over the years, with... questionable choices that have gone into them (like Pokemon aggressively calling onigiri rice balls "donuts), but there are series with legitimately great dubs. Cowboy Bebop is one, and even Fooly Cooly has a dub which... surprised me with how well they did.

This episode... look, okay. The last episode broke me on a very fundamental level. It was catastrophically tragic. THIS episode, though... oh, it makes my heart ache so badly. Even down to the way that it ties in with the finale song of season 1. "I want you to lose like I lose when I play what could have been." THIS is what could have been, and all it would have taken was... the loss of Vi. And, look... Ekko... he and Powder were close. They were the youngest members of their little community, and they were both brilliant inventors. The fact that they were torn apart by the conflict that consumed the undercity... thrown onto different sides of the conflict is... just the greatest tragedy of all of this. Ekko... lost sight of who Jinx was, and had to harden his heart to her, thinking of her as a lost cause, and nothing but a force for destruction because... holding onto that memory of her hurt too much. Still... when he saw this world's Powder, he was reminded of who Jinx was before, and... how much they cared about each other. Ekko... even in season 1 was my GOAT. Where Piltover and Zaun alike were corrupt and predatory, he created a bastion of safety for those who needed it the most. He didn't care about money or power, just keeping people safe. And here... in this episode... we see his sense of duty and resolve, and his drive to protect the people who count on him the most. This alternate universe was great... but without him, the people he had committed to protecting wouldn't be safe. So... he left this heaven to do what was needed. Total Hufflepuff move XD

I mean i guess it depends on how you define Anime. Personally I think anime comes from Japan. It usually has a specific art style (though not always). Otherwise would all animation not be anime? and if all animation is anime then aren't they just synonyms and then it doesn't matter? Personally if someone said Arcane is anime I wouldn't say they're wrong, but it doesn't fit my definition of anime. But it's not like saying it isn't Anime is saying it isn't as good, because it's definitely incredible.

Honestly I think people who say arcane isn't anime are snobs, if it or avatar was made In Japan with no differences it would be anime. "Anime" is the japanese word for Animation. If you want a beautiful story with beautiful animation with a badass woman lead, like others are recommending. Frieren is a best of all time level animation
