Only gets crazier and more interesting after watching or reading a PhD dissertation about "Every subtlety happening around the movie is actually the real movie". As a swedish guy, I do have to admit that even though we don't celebriteter Midsommar this way in MY family, it maybe looks a little weird when large amounts of people gather and dance around a pole.

Any reaction to this is always insane cause this movie is messed up lol. Also was sitting here wondering if Alex would realize that it was her sister AND both her parents. Her sister took them with her. That email of "its all going black, mom and dad are coming with me". Thus why it hit her so hard if people said family and all the things in the festival about having a family. Oh, and as for the pube food and that drink..look at that love story blanket again. I really enjoyed this film (first time watching) but I have very mixed feelings on the end. I think it’s creative and flows well with the rest of the story however she literally chose to kill him instead of just break up with him. 🤷‍♂️ overall very good tho and visually stunning

I'd agree this is an unsettling movie so if you're not in the right heads pace for it I would pass on it too. That being said it's a really interesting movie with some great acting and storytelling. If you want to watch it with Alex, it would definitely make it easier to watch.

I think I’m going to pass. I look forward to the movies I get to watch with Alex but this is a horror movie and I had a very stressful day. I don’t need the added stress. Plus I looking up this film and it said “disturbing”. I’m not feeling it. I’ve been trying to get into arcane but I get distracted. For some reason the first episode hasn’t been holding my attention. Maybe I will give it a third try instead of watching this.

Americans get drunk and party while shooting off incendiary devices on July 4th. I’m sure that would be weird to other cultures as well. Every culture has different celebrations that to outsiders might be seen as odd or weird. Honestly I enjoyed watching the movie and found the horror aspects of it to be interesting and well done. It’s a psychological horror movie, a little weird should be expected.

they really be classifying everything as horror these days, it has the same overall feel of hereditary but with not being good or scary. Visuals are nice and its shot well but that was a boring movie. Great reaction, terrible movie. Its like another movie i saw recently Late night with the devil. that was a better movie though.

Hi Alex. My name is Alfons and Im from Sweden. I dont know much about the history of midsummer but I can tell you how it works in todays age. Midsummer is a real tradition we have in Sweden every year that always accours in late June on a friday (around June 20th). It has no connection to religion. We basically celebrate the transition from spring to summer, and is supposed to be the the longest day and shortest night of the year. This day we get wasted on snaps (a small shot of a strong alcoholic beverage taken during the course of a meal), eat midsummerfood, dance around the maypole while singing midsummersongs, make flower crowns and just partyinig. For an american it may seem silly, but we dont do anything crazy like in the movie. You should defenetly visit Sweden to experience both midsummer and the midninght sun during the summer. Hope you got a good understanding for what it is!

The ceremony where the 2 elders commited suicide by jumping from the rocks is actually real and it's called attestupa. I highly recommend the Netflix show "Norsemen", where the ceremony is shown in an actually funny way. It's basically a mockery of Viking culture. It's hilarious.

Alex, I've been watching your content for almost 2 years and never really commented on anything. I've just taken solace in the fact that around 2 years ago, your channel became a happy place for me and a way to learn how to enjoy things without feeling the need to have "someone" there with me. (ie. typically feeling empty and unfulfilled without having a relationship or romantic interest). I love you man, and as cheesy as it is, your presence has helped me heal in more ways than any other coping mechanism I've learned over the past few years . Can't wait to watch you scream in utter horror and despair .
