LET’S WATCH: Arcane S1 E8 - "Oil and Water"

Hey guys!

This episode was FUCKING CRAZY!!! Ok, now I'm starting to really like Mel! Especially compared to her scoundrel ass mom! What a bitch.

Now, one thing that I didn't quite get during this episode... why would Vi would want to wage war on her own people during the council scene. And Caitlyn was against it too. Also, Medarda wanted Jayce to slap down and make the weapons, but now she's against it and Jayce is for it. Like wtf. Seems a little wonky and a tad bit uncharacteristic? Yes??? idk

I love you all so much. This episode has been incredible! I can't wait for the finale.

Love,

Alex

He juiced silco up because as he literally said while doing it "I hope you understand this is for your own sanity" bcos the trauma of watching what he did to her could've driven silco insane, he was being kind.

I swear to god every time you watch this series again, you find new details you missed. Absolute masterpiece! (About the 20th time im watching it now here)

They are not mischaracterized. Vi didn't go against her people, she went against Silco, which she believes is bad for them. Mel, at first, was for preparing for a violent solution. But after her mother came, she got reminded of the cost with which war comes. So she wanted to negotiate. Jayce was in the middle, between Viktor and Mel, but after witnessing dead enforcers on the bridge, he turned to the side of violence. ... And after killing that kid, perhaps he will rethink his decision.

YES! You can play as Heimerdinger! (: Even his little furry white pet is sometimes featured in the game during special events (like special Christmas/Winter games, etc.) The species of animal is called a Poro This show is showing the backstories of A LOT of the playable characters from League of Legends so far. You don’t have to play League to enjoy the show, because it’s amazing, but it’s definitely just extra interesting to people to have played the game. A lot of people hate how toxic the community is (so do I) and the learning curve can be steep. It requires a lot of teamwork and people can be hot-headed. I don’t play anymore but it’s fun if you have a group of people to play with who won’t rage at you for making mistakes when learning how to play.

Part of Alex's thing is giving hilarious alternate crazy names to characters with crazy names.

To explain more about Mel, she basically has a lot of unresolved traumas with regards to her upbringing with her mom. She was taught at a young age what war is like and she has a lot of weight and pressure under her for the simple fact of being born in a war-like culture and a noble on top of that. And this will be explored more in the next season. But to simply put, she wants to be everything her mom isn't and she wants to rise above the challenge and her image while also never going far below as how her mom has ever been, the mad and warmongering woman. In episode 7, she wanted to protect Piltover if war descends upon them as a precautionary step not as a priority unlike her mother who wants to proceed with the war and get hextech to produce weapons which she then can exploit.

"you gotta stomp the kid out; hes a ginger anyway" KILLED me xDDD sendin lov

The episode 8 intro is my personal favorite of season 1. The way they establish Mel's trauma, Ambessa and reputation of the Medarda family as brutal and conquering all in one scene is perfect. And by extension, we can assume all of Noxus is like this as well.

To try and answer your questions: Vi doesn't want to wage war on her people but on Silco and his operations, she thinks violence is the only solution. Caitlyn on the other hand want's to find a diplomatic solution for this. Mel wanted the weapons at first as a way to intimidate the undercity into submition and not to actually use them but she changed her mind when her mother chimed in because Mel knows her mother will want to got to war with them. However Jayce got convinced by Mel before she changed her mind and Vi gave him the final push to go through with it. It's really complex and it happens a bit quickly but it makes more sense on rewatch when you actually have time to read into their motivations a bit more.

1. Vi wants to fight Silco and his people not her own 2. Mel seeing her mother again made her remember that she wanted to be different from her mother more diplomatic
