LET’S WATCH: Avatar: The Last Airbender | Book 3 | Episode 14 | "The Southern Raiders"

Hey everyone!

This episode was EMOTIONAL as FUCKKKKKKK!!

Also, we get back-to-back Zuko-centric episodes?! Let's gooooo! I love how he and Katara are bonding during this episode and how she really begins to gain his trust.

Katara was definitely out of character during this episode, but it's understandable. But, what a fucking back story huh?!?!

This one hit hard! I had NO IDEA that is what happened to Katara's mom... jeez.

Anyway, I love you guys so much!

Alex

I think Azula's friends betraying her caused a crack in her psyche because she's more unhinged here.

There are a handful of moments in ATLA that take my breath away with this show, Zuko's reaction to Katar bloodbending at 17:41 is one of them. UGH everything about it! This episode is amazing, and I often come back to this when I feel myself in Katara's shoes about my own past.

I'm ngl, sitting with you in pure eye contact laughing so hard that I am crying while waiting for the sirens to finish BEFORE the reaction even starts is why I love being a Patreon member.

MP36BRAVO

Why isn't bloodbending used more frequently? Because it's a intrinsically evil power, taking away someone's free will to manipulate their bodies to your will is honestly just wrong. Not to mention how it can only be done during the full moon, when waterbenders are at their most powerful.

Kris

I don’t care what Alex says with that amount of sirens in his videos I am pretty sure he lives in the ghetto of Gotham city.

“...hard to stand behind in the last season”??? This episode is literally the only instance where Katara acts basically unreasonable (for lack of a better word) lol. The rest of the season she’s great as per usual. And yeah, she was being a bit hypocritical, but it’s completely understandable. We’ve seen plenty of other characters lash out irrationally in anger before. Most notably Zuko. But nobody continues to give his character crap for it all the time even though he was like that for most of the series and often lashed out without so much as an apology afterwards. I can understand not loving the way Katara was handling her emotions, but come on. You yourself acknowledged that she’s obviously struggling with her guilt and grief. She’s also a young, teenage girl. Maybe have a little more sympathy for her. Besides, pretty much every other instance in the show except for this one, she is the most generous and caring character of the “Gaang” other than Aang himself lol.

Until this vid I thought Alex lived in the Bronxs or sum

I love that they added the little scene where Zuko is shocked by the blood bending, then he immediately snaps back to moment.

E-Hensley

Zuko might be the best character in all of tv

Jake Rush

I just feel like her character for me was hard to stand behind in the last season

I hated Katara in the episode. I understand her having survivors guilt and feeling rage and pain. But she was being a hypocrite, Hama went through a lot as well and Katara was against how Hama was handling her trauma and then used the one technique she herself decided was horrible (I’m not saying it isn’t, blood-bending horrible) for her own self revenge. Hama was a horrible old woman but Katara in this episode wasn’t much better. The way she talked to Sokka and just planned on taking Appa without asking Aang, it is his bison.

The blinky, smiley, grin,as you just stare into our souls while the sirens fade in and out had me dead🤣🤣🤣

When you said you live in Honolulu near a fire station, I about had a heart attack because I too live in Honolulu near a fire station 👁️👄👁️

Sierra Berry

Alex, in case you forgot, water benders can only blood bend during the full moon, and Katara abhors the technique and never wanted to use it in the first place.

DarnedStingray8

I also love Zuko being Katara’s back up and hype man like they worked so well together this episode. And even when she started bloodbending which he didn’t know she could do he was just like alrighty anyways back to the intimidating

AllyBoo124

I heard that the southern raiders were looking for Hama, the old woman from the Puppet Master episode, after she escaped.

Jarvis

Katara is so misunderstood in this episode she’s obviously speaking from a place of rage but also survivor’s guilt. Aang understands but he’s the avatar and was raised by monk it’s not in his nature to be truly vengeful and of course he say that she should caution restraint or mercy or forgiveness or letting it go. But not in,y did Katara lose her mother and have to take on that responsibility at a young age her mother literally died for her. Katara is/was the LAST LAST LASTTT water bender of the southern tribe and all the other water benders were gone. To spare her life her mother gave up hers of course she wants revenge she was child who would’ve been punished by the fire nation for simply existing and her entire life she’s had to work and prove that her mother’s sacrifice was worth it.

AllyBoo124

That moment, when Katara blood bins in front of Zuko and you see his eyes widen like holy shit. This bitch has way too much power. You could see like that sudden fear in his eyes of just what she’s capable of doing, and how much restraint she has by never doing that to people randomly. She has the ability to become a dangerously evil person if she wanted to, but she keeps herself in check.

Daisy Azuras

I loved this episode growing up because Katara was my favorite character and she still is I love my girl. And also as a zutara shipper I loved this episode. On social media I’ve seen so many people hate on Katara and it’s so wild to me and uncalled for like she’s way more complex than people give her credit for and I think very under appreciated. And zutara are the perfect enemies to lovers

AllyBoo124

i mean, he could do that movie right after he finishes avatar. For me, it borders that, so bad it's good kind of movie. If i'm with friends whom never seen it but have seen avatar, it's hysterical.

Sean Stephens

Why would we want Alex to watch that horrible atrocity avatar movie.

Mr.Baron von waggy pants

I want him to do it next then maybe do the movie we don’t talk about in order to understand how bad it is and why we don’t talk about it lol

Hiei

lol I honestly wondered why it was that almost every single one of his videos has a siren in the background. I was like goddamnit. It’s like every single video. There’s some sort of siren going off and I’m like damn either he lives in a really bad area or he lives like above a police station or something because it seems like every single moment there’s a siren going by

Daisy Azuras

I would love to have him do legend of Korra.

Mr.Baron von waggy pants

How much do you pay for a gallon of milk?

Impulse RL

This is 100% my favorite Katara episode because it's so heavy.

Red powers

finally!!
