LET’S WATCH: Avatar: The Last Airbender | Book 3 | Episode 6 | "The Avatar and the Fire Lord"

GUYS!!!!!

This is DEFINITELY one of my favorite episodes of the ENTIRE SERIES!

This was such an insanely good and creative episode! Sozin and Roku paralleled with Aang and Zuko while both of them are learning about that story at the same time?! Fucking insanely cool!

The writing was amazing. The dialogue was incredible! Overall a 10/10 episode for me!

What do you guys think?!

Love you all,

Alex

Nightmareman99

I love this Episode!!!

Edgar Perez

I'm incapable of watching this episode without shedding a tear. It's so goddamn good.

Kyle Piechocki

the hardest element to bend is whatever ur natural opposite is ie y roku a firebender struggled with water

Marquis keel

I love his reaction to the realization that Zuko is directly related to the avatar.

Daisy Azuras

The best part of this episode is when Zuko is talking to Iroh it’s shot as if Zuko is behind bars and the one in a prison of his own making, showing that while Iroh is the one in prison he never was imprisoned like Zuko was. The beauty of the light shining on Zuko and the line “friendships can transcend lifetimes” brings a tear every time I watch it!

Anthony

This is my favourite episode in the entire series, except the finale ofcourse haha

AyaaChann

I love how everyone’s first assumption is that Sozin grew jealous of Roku, but no. Sometimes power corrupts. Right up to the end Sozin still very much cared about Roku, but his ambition and greed was greater.

Halima

No that"s the wife of a different avatar (Kuruk to be specific).

Rex Calhoun

I love Katara’s explanation too, of course earth bending is hard for an air bender when it’s your natural opposite! Hence why Roku struggled with Water bending, since it’s the opposite of fire! The depth in which it gets in Korra is so cool, I really love the layers in that show!!

maliemoment

don't know if you noticed it Alex but I doubt you did Rokus wife is actually the lady that the face stealing spirt that showed him her face and said one of your past life's came for me after I took there loved one

Colin Elgin

this episode hits like a sledgehammer. Aang's journey drives the show, but Zuko's journey is ever bit as important, and it's a lot more complex. Really incredible storytelling.

Walter

This is my most favourite episode of the series. That revelation is peak story telling

In terms of boxers: Earth Bending = George Foreman. Planted, not a lot of movement, and powerful punches. Take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. Air Bending = Muhammad Ali. Fancy footwork, speed, and evasion. Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Can't hurt you if they can't hit you. Fire Bending = Manny Pacquiao. Averaged 100+ punches per round vs. the standard 60-80. Can't dodge or block all of them. Water Bending = Floyd Mayweather Jr. Strong defense, patience and adaptability to create openings and counterattacks. Nobody is perfect 100% of the time. Eventually they will mess up. Good things come to those who wait.

The hardest element to master varies from avatar to avatar but is the opposite of their original element in the cycle. For Aang, the hardest was earth bending because it is all about being uncompromising, stubborn, and being rock steady (pun intended), basically having the mentality of being such an unmovable object that another unmovable object has to move out of your way. Be more stubborn than literal rock. Which is the exact opposite of air bending which is all about deflection, redirection, and being so movable that nothing can hold you down. Unwavering resolve vs erratic flexibility. For Roku, the hardest was water bending since it was the opposite of fire bending. Fire bending is fast and intense, quick jabs and kicks in direct attacks at their opponent. Not a lot of defensive moves. Water bending is slower and more fluid, using defensive moves that redirect their opponents momentum against them. Not a lot of fundamentally offensive moves. Direct aggression vs. restrained redirection.

22:43... "Do you think friendships can last more than one lifetime?". For many reasons, I love that quote. :)

Culper (Lukas)

Very interesting note with the scene involving Iroh and Zuko. Notice how every-time we see the camera cut to Iroh it’s only him. When the camera cuts to Zuko it’s him but the bars are also in the frame signifying Zuko is still living caged/trapped by his past. Cannot wait for the next 2 episodes im clenching my gooch waiting

Impulse RL

I love S3 because it does show the Azula does legit care about Zuko.

Red powers

This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire series :)

So in regards to the hardest element to learn, it defers on the person. For example, Aang had trouble learning earth bending cause it was opposite his teachings of avoiding stuff like air bending. It mainly depends on a persons attitude, mental state, and they're spirituality in some cases, as you'll see if you get to watch Korra

Cole Romero

the animastions get sooo good for this book its insane

Matthew Hunt

Not even 2 minutes into the episode and you already called it.

Kendrick Hilton

11/10 episode
