PS:
I've read some comments about doing polls and how it's not the most effective method. Some people have suggested that I pick all of the movies. I don't like that idea.
There's an idea floating around that $10/month tiers are the ones that get to make recommendations to work around the overcrowding of these posts. Thoughts? I like this idea more.
I like getting movie recs from YOU GUYS. That's why I started implementing this 2-round polling system.
For those that don't want to read all of the comments, I will. Then I'll put the TOP 25 choices in a list. This allows you all to vote for multiple options to narrow down to the top 4.
I think this is the best method possible with the resources we have at hand.

As many others have said the number one thing probably is to finish series before voting on more movies. Cause sequels always take away slots in polls and if they still don't get watched it's just annoying after some time lol

2025-02-04 15:36:42 +0000 UTCIf you do the top 25 suggestion poll, then a top 4 poll, have the next week poll be a top 4 of the remainder of top movies previously suggested. Work your way through that top 25. I don't see the benefit to doing a brand new top 25 suggestion poll every week other than frustration that we are essentially starting over. Maybe you have a suggestion to fill the spot of the watched movie to fill it back to 25, but have that top 25 poll be your baseline for movies suggestions to work through. Just my thoughts on it. Also would like to see two movies a week if possible.

This method is always going to leave one group of fans satisfied, and everyone else dissatisfied. Better organization and direction is required.

Because it's painful to see the first movie and then the second movie never gets voted or the series doesn't get finished. Other then that. I'm fine with whatever

2025-02-04 10:33:59 +0000 UTCThat’s the whole idea 😊 the more specific the polls are, the more diversity and « sort of control » there will be. For exemple everyone want LOTR and Hunger Games. But Alex wants to finish some of the franchise already started. In that case no suggestion needed. We just pick the next movie among the 18 pending franchise. Same for Alex or Editor’s choice we just vote. Or for the movies that always make it to the top 25 but never win. Alex makes a selection of the most recurring movies in the top 25 and we vote. When we do suggest, we do it according to what Alex specifies he wants (drama, horror, manga, animated, comedy, etc…) 🙂

2025-02-04 08:26:57 +0000 UTCYeah, weekly movie genres is the only way to go imo. It allows movies that have been on polls time and time again to finally (with any luck) get watched. I'm not a fan of animated movies, whether they be aimed at kids (or the kid at heart) or a more adult comedy one however I get why people vote for them however we do need change. Watching a movie genre week after week (whether it be animated, action or horror) gets boring and doesn't allow for anything else and you continue to see the cycle of seeing the same movies on polls with little to no hope of ever being watched. Dedicated weeks to genres could be as followed(example genres and placement); Week 1: Action Week 2: Horror Week 3: Comedy Week 4: Drama Week 5: Alex poll pick Or you could do one of those random wheels at the start of the month with movie genres, record it being spun and showing what genre it lands on, and keep spinning until each week is planned out with a genre -- A video like that probably wouldn't be no longer than 30 seconds since you can remove the option it lands on for the next spin, and it allows the weeks to be mixed up and gives a new unique spin on it. It's an idea, probably not a practical one but as I say it does give it that unique feel.

If it becomes a problem where one category is predominantly winning, you could cycle through categories. Just an option to narrow down the sheer number of suggestions.

Still put up tons of options but making it so we only have one choice makes every voter really have to consider what they want to see. You can do multiple rounds to make it so they don’t feel left out. For example if you post 16 movie options let us pick just one. The top 8 make it to the next poll, the following poll is the top 4 from those. Basically tournament style with the votes. Regardless I’m a fan man. Your attitude and way of looking at things. I’ll even watch posts of movies I don’t like cause I like you. Keep up the reactions. Easily one of my favorites in the business!

There are plenty of movies I think Alex would love that just don't get the love because they're drowned out by sequels, superhero movies, or whatever's popular TODAY. Like, let's pick an Adam Sandler movie this week, or a Disney movie, or a comedy, horror, whatever. The Free-For-All anything goes system feels like it leads to people being annoyed or upset one way or another. There are literally too many options. Either way, imma keep watching :)

Most likely because he didn’t want to start another franchise, despite the fact it’s what the majority wanted. It will probably be a couple of years or so given the other franchises that still need to be finished first :)

That way those can get reacted to and will cut back on the suggestions of same movies. Possibly make a poll of the movies that win the top 25, but didn't win the top 4.

If you're in a tier that has the movie reactions then you should be able to recommend which movies are in said polls. There has to be better solutions. The current isn't great but at least it allows everyone to have their say, especially if their tier has the movie reactions in their membership

Having us choose is awesome but I think we’d all enjoy it if you seized some control. 💜 What if each week you alternate between a Reg Movie Poll, Sequel Poll (You’d already have the list of series we’ve started so we’d just vote among them), and an Alex Choice Poll. I’d personally also prefer if recommendations weren’t locked behind the $10 tier, at least exclusively.
