Avatar: The Last Airbender | Book 2 | Episode 15 | "The Tales of Ba Sing Se" (FULL EPISODE REACTION)

Hey guys,

I have one thing to say about this episode and one thing only...

THIS WAS THE COOLEST FUCKING EPISODE OF THE ENTIRE SHOW SO FAR!! I LOVE the style of this one! And the cool part is that all of the characters' actions seem to be dictated by the thing in their lives they lost.

Wow! Honestly. I'm blown away by this one.

Love you all,

Alex

Comments

he recorded it at some point after having already known he was dying, its why he gets emotional in the recording.

Hey Alex: during the really touching moments, take a few beats to take it in and experience it (and let your viewers experience it with you). THEN, make a comment, but only after the moment is over. Talking over it interrupts the energy and poignancy of the scene and we don't get a chance to experience it with you.

Diana

Mako, the VA of Iroh died shortly after recording Leaves From the Vine.

LoreKing

what do you mean? i dont get it

Michael

And so ends the era of Mako's Iroh

LoreKing

I think Iroh's story should've been last. Could barely focus on the other ones after that one lol

MrPeran

First time the show got me really emotional

MrPeran

17:39 made me laugh out loud at work 🤣🤣🤣

Impulse RL

Seen this 10 times probably still cry when iroh plays leaves from the vine

Koty Taylor

Dude I didn‘t think I‘d cry watching this while Alex is reacting to it… got me good

Viktor Dragov

Crying like a baby every single time I watch this episode…

Hannes Netinder

I'm not gonna lie, there's literally not a better way to order the stories in this episode. It's pacing is actually perfect.

Indica Ink

Alex mate you have to watch (Warrior) with Tom Hardy an Joel Edgerton if you haven’t seen it plz

Ethan

A few of Iroh's lines were recorded by Greg Baldwin, however there are some that were recorded by Mako, most notably the picnic for Liu Ten and the song at the end.

DarnedStingray8

I really hope Alex reads these comments on this video and then rewatches this part of the episode

Tyler

Mako Iwamatsu, the voice for Iroh, recorded the lines for this episode in the hospital. He had esophageal cancer, and was on his death bed. His song at the end were some of the last words he ever spoke. Greg Baldwin, who took over for Mako as the voice of Iroh, has stated that he will never record his own version of "Leaves from the Vine" out of respect for Mako.

DarnedStingray8

He really should’ve stayed more quiet during the iroh sequence out of respect for the man, but at least he realized what was happening by the end. Did anybody explain to them that the Voice Actor died?

Daisy Azuras

No matter how often or how prepared I am to see "The tale of Iroh" I still cry everytime, just like One Piece episode 36😭

Mo Ma

And The Tale of Iroh claims another victim. It remains undefeated.

Chess Red Eagle

The reason Sokka got kicked out was because he said a line with 6 syllables instead of 5. Haiku’s follow a pattern of 5-7-5 syllables.

Cole Romero

I swear every time I hear Iroh say “if only I could have helped you” I can’t control myself

Cole Romero

Time to grab the tissues..

LtGambler

The voice actor of iroh was Mako and he died that's what the "in honor of mako meant" the voice actor changed later

Berri

😔🕊️rip

Oliver

If ZenNova doesn’t cry here she definitely has not a heart

Oliver

Well time to cry

ariel

And this is the last episode with the cabbage merchant 😔

Oliver

Leaves from the vine Falling so slow Like fragile tiny shells Drifting in the foam Little soldier boy Come marching home Brave soldier boy Comes marching home

Joovain

The tragic true part behind this Episode is that the voice actor of Iroh was diagnosed with cancer and had no chance of surviving. The picture of Irohs son is actually a picture of the voice actor when he was young and he was actually crying over his own death here. And hearing the sound of his broken voice crying over the fact that he will definitely die makes me shatter. This is also the last season we have with this amazing Voice Actor! RIP Mako🕊️

Oliver

Sad Fact: the original voice actor for uncle Iroh was Mako who sadly passed away at the age of 72 due to cancer. The picture you see of his son is what Mako actually looked liked at a young age when he was in the military. Mako was actually crying during his recording because he knew he was gonna die soon and he Loved playing Uncle Iroh so he was saying goodbye to his fans, loved ones, and to his favorite character. RIP Mako
