This episode was probably my favorite out of the 4 we've seen/will watch today! The ability this show has to tow the line PERFECTLY between absolutely hilarious (with Sokka high as fuck on cactus juice) and emotionally deep and intense with Aang acting out because of how much he misses Appa is so impressive!
Seriously. This episode was a game changer for me in the sense that I had that realization. This show FUCKING SLAPS!!!

2025-01-16 00:08:48 +0000 UTCReally? There's so much quality character development with Aang. Like Alex said, this show knows how to balance out being goofy and then really being serious and emotional when it needs to be. The desert episodes do a great showing of that sentiment.

2025-01-09 01:05:37 +0000 UTCNo one talks about how well Katara did in this episode. Aang was gone and moody (understandably but still) Sokka and Momo are high and toph can’t see. She immediately set them on a plan to start walking, started rationing their water, made a plan about how to navigate the stars using the maps so they wouldn’t be stressing themselves about walking so far in the heat, and made the plan about aang air ending following the compass after toph found it. Like she really took charge while everyone was falling apart and I think helps show how integral not only she but everyone is to the team. But Katara specifically here. I feel like people forget that because she was still learning waterbending when they met aang but she’s mastered it now and he hasn’t so he even still needs her as a teacher. Love me some Katara lol

2025-01-08 19:14:44 +0000 UTCThis episode always reminds me attack of the clones, aangs got that same vibe as anakin losing it when his mom died. The way aang gets that dark look in his eye this whole ep, and the silhouettes in the desert etc, honestly some of the best animation in book 2

2025-01-08 17:16:24 +0000 UTCThe most heavy episode Aang's attitude is justified here. Besides Momo Appa is the last of Aang's culture and has been there from the beginning. And Aang did something that is out of character and killed a creature and you know it's bad when even Momo is afraid of Aang. And this episode shows just how much this group needs Katara because without her it'd fall apart. This is one of many sad episodes in this season.
