Independence Day (FULL MOVIE REACTION)

Hey guys!
I'm not gonna lie, I thought this movie was about a lake house mailbox romance when I put it on the poll list hahahahaha
Anyway, I thought this movie was INSANELY GOOD! I can't believe this actually came out in the 90s! Absolutely nuts!
What is your FAVORITE Will Smith movie of all time? I hope you guys have had an incredible week, and I hope you all have a kickass weekend! :)
Love you all so much,
Alex
Alex, sweetie. David sent the virus into the Mother Ship. It infected all the ships and brought down their shields so the different militaries could blast them. What we see in Africa is the destruction from the crashed ships.
And they didn’t prematurely light the cigars, they were stuck and thought they couldn’t get out. The kick back from sending the nuke jogged the ship loose so they could escape.

Alex if you want to see a movie where the alien(s) come to earth and are good, you have to watch Paul. Written by Simon Pegg & Nick Frost ( Shaun of the Dead & Hot Fuzz) Starring those two hilarious idiots along with Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Lynch, Seth Rogan, Bill Hader & Kristen Wiig amongst other great actors. Plus, there's an alien w/ three boobs... :)

Does he really suffer from ADHD? That’s something to have compassion about, not criticize. It would explain the need to talk over the movie half the time, asking questions off topic, making continuous comments that cause him to not really watch it or remember a lot. It might be something he can’t help. 🙁

Wow! Just re-subscribed to watch this reaction, not knowing how misguided it was, lol. ALEX - You're a different kinda cat(respect) and you have a very different "type" of subscribers. Not trying to be mean but not many of them are very intelligent or very in-tune/aware, but that's cause you're not. Like ur videos but this was a let down brother. This reaction to ID4(marketing logo 4 over two years for this movie) could have been a beautiful thing if you would've done it right. This movie deserved it. I know ur hive is coming after me now ;) so I'll be leaving now lol

ur the 2nd person on this thread to recommend this god awful tragedy of a misguided movie. Is this like a late misguided marketing campaign to get this failed poorly edited headache of a movie back in our craniums for some dumb reason? I'd rather watch the last episode of Seinfeld and bang my head on concrete for 2 hours.

He doesn't care. You're putting a lot of effort here into something that's futile. The fact that Keanu & Bullock were in that mediocre(sorry) RomCom that he referenced by "plot" alone is suspect, lol. This was for views. ID4(the marketing logo) for Independence Day in 1996 was epic. Unless you were there for the cultural impact of Star Wars in 1977........ID4 was the closest thing for me in 1996. Me and my high school buddies lined up for 3 hours to watch this movie. And it broke box office records and was the highest grossing movie of all time until Titanic. Few people remember that. Leave it to Alex to make a mockery of the movie.

Agreed. Makes me sad tho that he had zero idea what he was reacting to and that he just thought he was watching and "old movie". This movie had a such build up through 1994-1996 that we were Beyond hyped to see this. We lined up in high school for this movie. It was an event. And Alex thought he was watching a RomCom. Ugh. Disappointing.

Honestly not a huge fan of this film but it’s not bad.
Still by favorite film with this whole end of the world plot is a film called Knowing(2009) with Nick Cage.
He basically finds a note of just numbers written by a little girl 50 year prior. The numbers in the note predict accurate details of disasters over the last 50 years.
With only a few remaining before the note ends

True they new what kind of system cuz it was right in front of them. Also I guess they could also backtrack the signal David revealed to identify their methods/system etc. And considering the deleted scene its possible it's similar maybe not identical, since theirs should still be much higher advanced. Tho they only need a general virus, something rudimentary that just shuts something down. Nothing like overly complicated, like, steal a password then overtake their feed or reroute their signals etc I guess?

Hey Alex. Great reaction, but your mistaking Independence Day for The Lake House made my wife facepalm.
You had a point about different computer systems and problems with a virus to be uploaded. However you forgot a few things.
1. David got the signal and figured out how to read it, basically reading their computer code.
2. Area 51 had the alien computer tech there, in the crashed ship.
3. David tested the virus in front of you and everyone with the fighter.
4. The fighter went up to the mother ship to upload the virus there and send it out to all City Destroyers (big ships) and the small ships.
I'm typing this out immediately after watching this and have not seen if anyone else explained how it worked.
Keep up the good work, we really enjoy your reactions and we are very impatient for Lord of the Rings.

So, here's some fun trivia, a little levity since everyone is dunking on our boy... The President's Daughter, Alex, is also the Voice of Katara in ATLAB. Nuts, right? Also, This was kind of the Movie that said Area 51 existed, and the government kinda said OK fine, sure. Google Earth had also just came out, and you could totally go look at Groom Lake and see all the buildings, so, yeah. Area 51 was just for testing of airframes, etc. They flew the Stealth Fighter out of there, I'm pretty sure... as far as testing. My family lived across the mountain range from there, in Bishop, CA, and we had pictures of the stealth fighter flying around in like, 86. We totally thought it was a UFO. Anyway, fuck the haters. I get that half the time, you are just saying whatever occurs to you at the moment, not thinking.

Cry some more, your opinion is invalid when you're trying to tell someone how to run their channel. That's not an opinion, it's trying to assert dominance. It was common to have police on Horseback in America back then, that's where the horse came from hahaha, it always reminds me of Madagascar, which you gotta check out one day if you have not already!!
YES good looking man, A craft that size would definitely mess up the atmosphere big time, especially if it didn't come in EXTREMELY slowly(wouldn't mess much with gravity though)
Yes Area 51 exists, though only an idiot would be foolish enough to store alien crafts there especially these days, Not sure exactly what its being used for currently but Area 51 was originally where they secretly developed the SR71 Blackbird among many other secret spy planes etc
Yes I believe Aliens exist, though it 1000% matters what environment this these "aliens" evolved/live in, but Think of it as not TOOO different from earths species most commonly but of course there would be some weird ones that evolved in extreme environments so its a bit too hard to take a pick at what they would look like, but most likely just like us they are not very developed, hence why we look for signs of Dyson Spheres when looking into deep space, because that's one of the easiest ways to find artificial creation with our limited tech
I'm not going to repeat others that have explained what type of computers the aliens use and how we know but great question Alex! To answer the question: Yes a virus does need to be for a specific architecture, platform or operating system, though many can be made to effect multiple, of course you must know the type before creating the virus, as you mention.

@Daisy Azuras that's just called realism, same reason so many native americans, aboriginals etc etc experienced incredibly bad sicknesses, their immune systems had never seen anything like the sickness that the invading people had. Thats just how immune systems work so idk what your talking about when you say "because of the whole virus thing" is why Alex wouldnt like one of the best old school alien & tom cruise movies?? LOL
Kobain Hine(Kyber)
2025-01-05 19:41:13 +0000 UTC
Yes the flag stays still, you could slightly get it to move if you had a big enough thing to blow "air" around like a huge sheet of cardboard, since there is in fact a ever so slight amount of atmosphere made of many gases, gravitationally stuck to the moon, just like how our atmosphere works, just with WAYYYYYY less gases and no moisture

Anyone that believes the conspiracy of the moon landing being a hoax is simply either not intelligent enough or not willing to research and understand what is required, Which I get, there is a lot of unintuitive factors about space etc, the influx of misinformation especially in the modern age does not help either, unfortunately people like to play with words and make you doubt your understanding of physics. Also yes believers of this conspiracy or the flat earth conspiracy should not be completely trusted lmao. Soon enough they will give it up, Had it happen with my own father and brother cause their old school and don't know how to navigate the internet safely or understand complex physics because they both are "hands on" guys and didn't focus in science or geography AT ALL!

Why would you freak out with an alien invasion? There is nowhere to run. If they manage to come here that means they are technologically superior to us so fighting has no purpose. I would watch what they are going to do on earth. If it's inline with my values I try to join them. And if it's against I will die in a really amazing way. I don't know if there is an after life but if there is being killed by an alien sounds like a great story to tell in the afterlife!

One of my favorite movies! Favorite Will Smith movie is Men in Black, but this one comes pretty close imo, amazing cast here!
I'm not sure I consider this movie old, more like a classic, but it is crazy to think that it is close to thirty years old now. I find a lot of older movies personally more entertaining than newer ones. Technology has made it a lot easier to make more realistic aliens and monsters and explosions, but it's interesting to me to see how movies were made when this technology wasn't where it is now and how practical effects and clever cinematography achieved the same kinds of impact. In some cases it almost feels like there was more emhasis on story and other means of getting a point across rather than just giving us a visual. Like in this one, we got a lot of explaination from Dr. Okun about the aliens' phisiology and we saw the preserved dead ones, but a whole live alien was never really shown on screen. I think the closest to it was in the lab with the injured one, but it was obscured by fog still. The rest were separate visuals of an arm, feet, or an alien's head.

Dude, does he not pay attention to the movies? He’s watching the African tribe didn’t send a virus. The virus was sent by Jeff Goldblum on the mothership the giant ultra huge ship that the size of the moon all those little tiny ships receive a virus the same way that they were using the satellite signals to send commands plus I keep forgetting how young you are back in the 80s and 90s the whole Elvis alien thing was like a really popular thing on TVs and movies and news and everybody knew it. That’s why they used it so much in this movie it was a common thing. I never really thought that a movie like this could be aged because of its use of that eras memes.

I heard some of those guys in hearings have lied about their rank and clearance among other things(hearsay so not sure if thats fact) though alot of the videos were proven to be errors with the instruments used to track these "objects"(usually end up being unforseen software errors in brand new barely tested equipment), dont get me wrong though I will never trust a government, luckily we dont need the government to find out pretty much whatever we want, spacex is private, even Elon said himself if he had seen aliens or had ANY proof at all, he would immediately share it. Just like any sane person would, The technology available to the public is far too advanced for it to be even remotely possible to hide something like UAPs. Thats just the reality of things these days, Of course no sane person trusts the government though so i can agree with you there😅

Hey Alex, got a fun idea. You should watch Superman and Lois. It's a show that's part of the Arrowverse but you don't need to watch anything prior. It depicts Superman in a different light and that makes the character more interesting to me. He also has two children and the story focuses heavily on them. I think you'd really love it.

African tribes did not send a computer virus. Jeff G found that the aliens were using OUR satellites to communicate through a signal, so he sent a virus using that signal in our satellites. They had to do it in the mothership so that the virus would be passed down through the signal to all of the ships below (by relay through our satellites). Once the shields were down militaries all over the world took the ships down (the movie shows random people in certain countries celebrating - not people who defeated the ship). The movie does actually pretty clearly explain this.

Also, pretty much all modern technology stemmed from them finding this spacecraft in the 50's and studying it. Computer code is based off those findings, so it makes sense that David was able to program a compatible virus for their systems.

There's no way of knowing what Aliens would actually look like or how they would interact with Humanity in a First Contact Scenario. What I will say is that Alien appearances have been interpreted in many different ways over the years. In some franchises like this, they look disgusting. In franchises like Star Wars or Mass Effect, they look somewhat attractive.

I am of the unpopular opinion of not being a fan of this movie. It dis release after Jurassic Park. I was still very young but a huge Will Smith fan with a mom that didn't regulate what I watched or listened to. I didn't remember a huge amount. Some scenes here and there.
In general, I tend to not watch alien invasion related movies. I would much rather be in a cyberpunk or mad max type world so I'm sure that adds to my bias.

As a Firm believer of aliens existing, they are not here bro haha, they exist, somewhere, but not here, while there may be aliens from different dimensions that we can not percieve, thats kind of possible, however in terms of any physical alien crafts, bodies etc, there has never been a SINGLE piece of evidence, even though we can track EVERY object larger than a tissue box within thousands of kilometers of earth. so even though I 100% believe in aliens. there are a NONE on earth. we have satellites that can see through terrain, buildings and walls, through the ocean, we can even read and study your dna from some satellites... aka we would know if there was any other beings not native to earth... Im sorry, and out of the over 1000 private spacex falcon 9 launches, there has never been a single UFO/UAP. Statistically it is impossible for aliens to already be here.

The idea of aliens invading is propaganda that part of governments psyops to brainwash us into demonizing the aliens that would help us, while also priming us for a human made false flag invasion meant to rally the masses into war and conflict. (Just like Bush did)
I believe aliens are the “heavenly hosts” from the Bible (including angels/demons and the higher dimensional souls of our ancestors) and are mostly multidimensional beings existing at frequency levels that our 3D senses cannot perceive. There are negative aliens that have already infiltrated the earth and their likenesses have been distributed in pop culture/movies so as to distract from the validity of these images. “That’s not real, you got that from a movie!” We are also a species that has been genetically engineered and experimented on by extraterrestrial entities in order to be of service to their prerogative. The natural evolution of our species actually produces what we call the Sasquatch not w/e we are. There’s been so much disclosure happening and even more to come, they just keep distracting us with superbowls and Diddy bullshit every time something is declassified. Just know, if “aliens” attack it’s the government.

As somebody who slightly dabbles in photography, enough ambient light will drown out any starlight when taking a picture or video. With that being said, the ambient light from the sun off the moon's surface is more than enough to block out starlight in a picture or video. Eyesight is much different than camera optics, so just because WE can see stars at night with light pollution, cameras (especially those made in the 60s) would have a far more difficult job.

Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park: "Must go faster!"
Jeff Goldblum in ID4: "Must go faster!" 😂
On a side note: When will yells "And what the hell is that smell?!" when dragging the alien through the desert, that line was completely off-script. They were filming in a dry lake bed and he was actually smelling the stench of dead fish. Obviously, it fit the scene really well, so they kept it.

This is an awesome reaction. And I can see how the virus upload would be questionable and not make sense. But back in 1996, there was not all the different tech we have now . And since he used the Aliens own signal against them to upload the virus, it made sense back then.

when will smith is dragging the alien and he gets mad was all improvised bcz they were filming on salt flats and theres a pretty funky smell when theres THAT much salt, so him yelling "what the hell is that smell!!", then he starts kicking the alien, is really all of will smith's built up frustration dealing with the heat, having to do a handfull of retakes, and the smell of the salt. knowing that and watching it back is the funniest shit bcz its genuine😂sorry for the long comment btw

Regarding the "destroying advanced tech with our tech" there's actually a deleted scene that explains it, and I still cannot figure out why they cut it out given how much people are like, "How the hell did Goldblum manage to hook his laptop up to the alien ship?" The deleted scene (haven't seen it, but I've read what happens) apparently mentions that the Area 51 scientists have been working on implementing the alien technology since the '50s, which is how they were able to make it compatible, since our technology is largely based on the alien tech but no one knew that since they kept the aliens secret.

I like the film but the fact that there were 3 spaceships over the US and then 6/7 over the rest of the world shows very well how distorted the perception is.
Love the picture "how the world sees itself" = a normal picture of the continents - "how America sees the world" = USA and nothing else.
From today's perspective, the film is more of a laugh.
If we could destroy such advanced technology with the technology from the 90s, I wonder why we aren't jetting around in space and exploring planets like the Enterprise.

Pops being an “unreliable drunk who is a suffering Vietnam vet who was kidnapped by aliens” kinda sets up that whole deeper family dynamic that was cut from the theatrical release.
