It's $190 million primarily because of extensive reshoots. Originally on the civilian airline they would have traveled to Russia and been drafted and had a time skip. A reference to a chapter in the book. That was already filmed to it had to be redone with the WHO facility instead.

For all the flaws the movie gets actions incredibly well. You know it's good when Alex just has a "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck" look on his face for like 10 minutes at a time.

Hawaii maybe safe from infections if you cutoff anyone entering, but if its something like a meteor or war, wouldn’t Hawaii be in danger cause sea levels could rise or be wiped out with massive tidal waves? I mean, maybe not if they are high enough in elevation???? Anyway, IMO, this is the best serious zombie film ever made. (Although Zombieland kicks ass for its comedy) I think instead of a film, this would’ve made a fantastic tv series.

Technically undead" What the military guy with the hurting leg in south korea really meant by "its been bugging me for a while" is that its not an active injury causing the pain, but instead a disease or infection that is incredibly deadly/terminal and causing pain. Thats why he managed to survive the close encounter in that room of burnt bodies, the zombies dont go after terminally ill hosts💯 PLEASE BE CAREFULL DUDE! The WWZ "zombies" are more like a mix between zombies and infected. In WWZ you don't have to be dead to turn but to become a zombie you have to be dead before you turn that's the main difference.

Koreans do that man. Train to Busan and Squid Game are 2 prime examples of "its just a lot". I went full immersion with learning Korean... I watched a ton of Korean shows and movies before moving there for a few years. If you like Korean authors, the novel Almond by Sohn Won Pyung is really good. I'm pretty sure it comes in a translated version.

The lower bitrate of the patreon video/when it was exported does do the movie no favour in graphics quality perhaps its just the high compression making it seem less epic? I dont think i noticed any scene changes, but it definitely could have been much crisper

Honestly, ppl have told me that the book the movie got its name from is way better. Its written in a documentary-like way where the humans went to war with the zombies, with battle lines and strategies and all. And the whole book is the author interviewing survivors of the Z War and hearing their stories of fighting the undead. And in the book, the humans wipes out the zombies entirely, and are left with a new world. The video game is pretty fun too

Thoughts on the Ending: While the idea of infecting yourself with a pathogen to use as Camouflage is kinda clever, one could assume from a realistic standpoint that after some time passes all those Zombies out there would start calling the bluff. Viruses in General have a tendency to mutate and become more potent with time. Zombie Virus is no Exception.

Alex you should try listening to the World War Z audiobooks from which this film was supposed to be based on. Also one of the many reasons why this film didn’t receive a sequel was that it didn’t stay true to the book/audiobooks which is far more darker/bleak than the film ever was. I mean, very little about this movie is realistic, certainly not the zombies. For one thing, any real zombie parasite would have to leave the body mostly functioning in order for it to be controlled, it couldn’t control every single cell and nerve all by itself, which means that, yes, in fact, you could make a dead person sick and kill them with diseases, or anything else that would kill a normal human for that matter. Poison, blood loss, drowning, you name it, if it could kill a person, it’d kill a zombie too. I’m not saying the movie is bad to be clear, it’s definitely one of the better zombie movies out there, and there are a lot of good things you can say about it, but that its portrayal of zombies is “realistic” is absolutely not one of them. It certainly wouldn’t give you the ability to tank bullets and smash through a windshield with your bare head.

Agreed. The book is definitely my #1--it was one of the first zombie lit books I ever read, all the way back in 2009. I think the movie got a lot of unnecessary hate because it actually is really good and very well paced; it just has the unfortunate reality of sharing a name with an absolutely amazing book that it doesn't resemble in the slightest, and I think a lot of fans of the book had problems divorcing the two from each other and enjoying them as separate entities. Me, I was just happy to see a zombie movie do as well with mainstream audiences as WWZ did because it helped my book sales at the same time haha.
