Avatar: The Last Airbender | Book 1 | Episode 11 | "The Great Divide" | (FULL EPISODE REACTION)

Hey guys!

I gotta be honest. This was the WORST episode of the show I have seen, BY FAR! That being said, it was still pretty funny and a good bit entertaining, buuuuuuuuuuuut I honestly could have gone without ever seeing it.

I think the main point of this episode was to showcase just how impartial Aang is and how he is able to resolve problems. That being said, I don't know. The episode just kind of fell flat for me.

Turns out this was the LOWEST-RATED episode of the ENTIRE SERIES?!?!? Oh shit. That makes sense.

Love you guys so much,

Alex

this is the only episode I actually remember from watching it on tv as a kid. so it always surprises me when it hear it’s the lowest rated

Kyle Boan

The title "The Great Divide" is so apropros haha it is pointless but filler episodes are normal so just enjoy the journey 😁

Alex L.

Only 11 minutes in so far and I feel like the purpose of the episode is to highlight how quick everyone is to fall into the racism/stereotype trap because you yourself fell in pretty quick Alex. Noticeably whenever a Gan Jin made a comment on a Zhang, you agreed with them. Whether that was for comedic effect or not, it shows how easily people fall into the “these people good/ these people bad” trope when further along in the episode, both groups were liars and only had their own interests in mind instead of seeing the bigger picture and doing something to benefit the entire group. I assume this episode got the lowest rating because people clocked that and didn’t like how it made them feel. Just my opinion tho.

Tati_Mo

Thank god Alex had plum smugglers on... I still feel violated though.

Jason Van Hooser

Is that guy… is that the VA for robin from teen titans?

Michael

People always say this episode is completely meaningless like they forgot that the Avatars literal job is MEDIATION.

Josh Bruner

It’s Art in Motion. It’s not complicated.

Josh Bruner

Well this is a very sucky cartoon

Skyde

Well that’s not quite the best example here 😅

Oliver

In the word of the Amber Island Play: „Look it’s the Great Divide! The biggest canyon in the earth kingdom“ Actor Sokka:„….eh…let’s keep flying“

Oliver

Yep this is pretty much the only filler episode in the entire show you could honestly skip it and wouldn’t miss much

Nightmareman99

Right. 😅 In that case. There is nothing to pull from this episode.

Andrew Freeman

I actually like this episode because of the various use of art styles. The story is meh and fits almost nowhere in the overall plot, it's entirely "filler", but like I said, those different art styles for the two groups was neat.

Ram.

I really don't get the fascinating and interest in cartoon shows and movies

Michael Hodgkinson

I’d hang with the Zhangs all day long. I don’t trust obsessively clean people.

Brian Stanaland

its been a rumor for years that this episode was made because of malicious compliance, apparently some nickelodeon exec thought they should make the show more kid friendly and have stronger messages about sharing and shit, so they made this episode just to shut them up. and stop them from meddling in the production.

Jacob

Oh that was accidental I meant to say grin and bear it

Mr.Baron von waggy pants

"we just got a grin and parrot" - Can't decide whether that was intentional or not, but both possibilities are equally amusing. Thanks!

Louie G.

This became my favorite episode 😝 🌺

Ryuichi

Bro, not u forgetting ur fkin naked😂💀😭 Maybe always wear pants so you can spontaneously copy retarded dinosaur runs?

Charlie Fontana

An episode of two groups of people who have different beliefs and hate each other because of false information and lies being told both within the group and externally. Hmm. Sounds oddly familiar with reality.

Jesse Miller

I guess that's how Alex keeps himself from run all over the room doing dinosaur impressions and shit XD

DarnedStingray8

Yeah a lot of us avatar fans would like to skip this episode but unfortunately to a degree it is essential to the series cuz it explains things. So it's one of those episodes we just got a grin and Bear it and get through it.

Mr.Baron von waggy pants

Thank you for your service

Trent Tellier

One thing I get from this episode is that sometimes ppl can never forgive and forget, and sometimes it takes a story to appease those who will never agree.

Cole Romero

If anyone’s thinking of skipping this episode, don’t you’ll miss out on Alex’s bottom half worth watching this filler ep 😂

BlondeBoyJacob

that's a different episode

Bmaster532

This episode did bring us one thing…. SECRET TUNNEL!

Andrew Freeman

This is the worst episode of the show, even the second worst is 100 times better than this

crackdobby

I had a feeling you would react that way to that episode everybody does it's one of the two dumbest episodes in the whole series

Mr.Baron von waggy pants

This was the most replayed episode on tv! It has nothing to do with the over all plot. It’s more of a one off episode that was crammed down our throats. I’m tempted to skip this reaction. I’ll probably still watch it though. I’m subscribed to you for your content, not to watch things I could watch on my own. I’m looking forward to it, mostly.

Andrew Freeman

This episode is 100% as “bad” as the show gets, it’s the only episode i skip whenever i rewatch the show
