It wasn't the case that you needed to vote on the episode or season. People wanted to watch it so he did and finished it. And for me that was very boring because I don't like clone wars. But I knew that other people liked it. So it should also work with movies series. Also the quality the reaction becomes less because Alex will forget some stuff from the previous movies.

Sometimes people just want him to watch the original movie of a franchise especially when the rest are not directly connected to the firsts story line. Also if people voted on a franchise with multiple movies it would take a while to complete all meanwhile there are some people that don’t like the franchise at all. Imagine if he had to watch all the Jurassic park and Jurassic world movies that would take 1-2 months.

2024-12-05 01:31:54 +0000 UTCI have Asperger’s and ADHD. Any type of diagnosis is not an excuse for anyone to behave a certain way, it might be the reason, but should never be an excuse. I’m not a victim of my diagnosis, I’m still responsible of my own behavior and actions. I write long comments, maybe also unnecessary points and facts, but in my head they make sense and are important. If someone says they’re irrelevant, that’s their opinion, I still see them as relevant. But yes, you have the right to reply, as do others to what you originally posted/commented. The difference is in how people say and what, as well as how they react to the possible negative outcomes of their statements. The sad fact is that although Alex is about people being kind to each other and supporting each other, these comment sections are sometimes really harsh. There’s a fine line between being straight forward and being a-hole. Even sarcasm can sometimes be taken as an insult even if originally intended as a joke. Not to mention the cultural differences between all the different types of ppl in this community. Something that is very normal in one country/culture can be seen as extremely rude in another. I know, I’m a mix of German, Finnish & Hungarian and also grew up in the US and Spain. Believe me, I don’t fit in in any of my “home countries”! 😆😆

I might’ve not been very clear, happens a lot, but my point was to add to what had already been stated, that the sub is not for the movies, but for his effort and work creating the reactions. I don’t agree with all the statements made, cause being petty and just being rude to someone just for the sake of making the other person feel bad is not the right way. Anyhow, my point was, u shouldn’t condemn Alex’s content because the people voted for the shitty movies. I don’t like anime, I don’t really care for brainless humor movies or basically most of the content that wins the polls, but I’m not putting that on Alex. Just as an FYI, when there was only 200 comments total in the suggestions, it was easier to vote for the ones you liked and they also got votes easier, bc ppl didn’t need to scroll through 600+ suggestions. Now people don’t scroll through the suggestions anymore and many movies don’t get enough votes. Most of the times when Fifth Element was in the polls it was because I would write in each suggestion of that same movie, to also vote for the original suggester. Again, it’s not Alex’s fault which movies get picked. How could he even know that they’re shit if hasn’t seen them yet. De gustibus non est disputandum I still hope he eventually gets to the good ones and until then, I support him, his work and his effort!

Sometimes people want to take a break to focus on other things and if the content isn’t to their liking at that moment, it might be the perfect time to take that break and resubscribe later. Albeit there are more gracious ways to put it than the original comment. As a paying customer - like the original poster pointed out - she wasn’t getting what she felt she was paying for. Understandable. $5 to some may mean more than $5 to others…especially around the holidays.

As I mentioned in my earlier comment, I wish the selection would be the same as >1 year ago, but I understand that money is money. If YT & Patreon is your main source of income it makes sense to go where the money is. Just like big production companies cancel shows if they have certain decline in viewings. If Alex would be filthy rich and would only need to watch stuff and then call it a day and having other people doing all the other stuff, we’d probably see much more movies and in a much larger variety. I’ve been following him since Iron Man and a member of his Patreon at least over a year now. Has there always been films or shows that I’d like to see? No, but sometimes there are 1 or 2 in a month I like. I rather support work and effort as a whole, because $5 from me (from which 8% of the income goes to Patreon, plus payment processing, currency conversion, and payout fees) so roughly $3.15 is what he might earn from that after everything. So even if I only watch 2 movies per month, it’s less than $2 per movie. Even less if you watch more ofc. For the amount of effort and work he puts into making the reactions and editing etc etc. I gladly support him with $5 per month, even if it means I have to wait more than a year for him to FINALLY WATCH THE FIFTH ELEMENT? 😏😆 Sorry.. ptsd from all the times it’s been in the polls but never won, still keeping my fingers crossed though 🤞🏽 Patience is a virtue! 🧘🏽♂️ 😎

The issue is that it is winning out over a movie that is considered one of the top three sequels in the history of the medium, and the reason is that a lot of Alex's fan base is so young that they haven't seen it. The reason I want Alex to watch the classics is not so much about me wanting to see his reactions as it is me wanting him to get the broader understanding when he eventually watches the later stuff. Imagine if he hadn't seen Star Wars or Alien before watching Spaceballs. You can enjoy Kung Fu Panda all you want, it is never going to be as important to the medium of film as Aliens.

I mean I get that you go for the ones that are most popular amongst Patreon members because it brings in the 💵 💵, but I miss the reactions to the actually well made motion pictures from legendary filmmakers. Like Tarantino, Scorsese, Kubrick, Hitchcock, Nolan, Wes Anderson, F. F. Coppola, etc. I liked the idea that someone suggested in the Q&A, to have movies from different eras, for example biweekly. I hope that some day you’ll get to watch the masterpieces like: Psycho (1960) by Hitchcock Apocalypse Now (1979) by Coppola The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) by Joel Coen etc. Ps. Alex, you often said that you’ll eventually get to all the ones we’ve suggested and you’ll happily do this into your 60's (as long as it’s profitable ofc 😏). It’s a nice thought, but new movies/series are made constantly and as someone who used to study film and has watched over 3.8K movies thus far, I can assure you that you’ll never get to the end of the watchlist. 😅 I’ve had a watchlist going since 2007 and it just keeps growing.
