Smile (FULL MOVIE REACTION)

Hey everyone!

Thanks for letting me know there was some lag in the last upload. Now my thoughts on this movie can be summed up by the conversation I had with Aaron about it today:

Aaron: Well I'm excited to see how you handled Smile 😂

Me: I didn't

Aaron: LMAO

Enjoy.

Comments

Oh I can't wait for his reaction to smile 2

Charles Greene Jr

Putting yourself through a horror movie just to make the people who enjoy your reactions happy is just really cool of you. Like, yeah, I am one of those people who, when I have the time, enjoys throwing on a horror movie to watch instead of most other genres. But it's fun to see it through someone else's eyes in a way and this was very entertaining <3 Glad you had the hoodie to help protect you!

Willow

Nah Alex u got me in real tears the first 15min in “ I can’t look at that”😂😭😭😭

Donovan Crider

Smile 2 pleaseeee!!!!

Ernesto Cohuo

Waiting for Smile 2 reaction cuz it's 1000 times better and scarier than this one and Alex might actually shit himself 😅

RJ Biescas

Alex gotta watch smile 2

BWarrior808

Smile 2 anyone ????

Rowan

I laughed so hard my stomach hurts 🤣🤣🤣

Purple Cowboy

I didn't know hooded jackets were endowed with the same protection powers as the traditional, tried and true bed covers...this is good information to have.

Dee

I love how the flashlight doesn’t work, Alex points out the phone light but she decides it’s best to use 20 year old kerosine in a lantern 😂😂 horror movies…

Malachi Vann

feeling no pain at all with the :) smile creepy as fuck

BrianHobbit7

We gotta get Alex to watch Alien Romulus next hahaha

Ryan

I got so excited when i saw him uploading this. I knew he would get so many jump scares haha. Love ya Alex!

Piipiipoopoo520

The second one comes out on streaming on November 19th, you should react to it!

Working at a Psych hospital isn’t that bad. It’s challenging sometimes but you get used to working with that patient population. Some people are really sick and need help and you just gotta call on your empathy to try your best to help them. Risperdal is an anti psychotic that is typically prescribed for hallucinations but also helps with mood regulation. I’ve worked at a Psychiatric Hospital for 3 years and it’s hard but rewarding and eventually gets easier to handle.

Ryan “Rineran” Fox

Poor Alex.. This movie is a lot scarier than Terrifier 🤣 I’m not complaining

RNikolow

I'm not religious, but thank you for the prayer Alex!

Jennifer Wentworth

Hehe now we make him watch Midsommar

Thunder

Btw 🤷‍♀️ terrifer; not scary at all 🤣 gory yes but this movie 100% is "scarier"

brynm

Who jumps during opening a can of cat food? Alex... and me also, that's who! :P

Kripke's Corner

Who jumps during a phone ring??? Alex that's who Lol

Farmer Jayy

Another great reaction. Was not expecting you to watch Smile but I am glad you did.

jake hassler

Can’t be fun watching these by yourself.

Charlie Fontana

Idk why he’s wanting to watch that. There are way better scary movies..

Charlie Fontana

Bojack Horseman reaction i beg 🙏

YourGuyPreston

Alex can definitely skip Terrifier but I found Smile and Smile 2 to be far scarier then any of the 3 Terrifiers because Smile is full of jumpscares. Terrifier is just gore which I don't find as bad.

JQ

wtf he does look like alex that's crazy

sippy cup

he's doing everything including looking up randomly mentioned drugs for their prescription facts to avoid even looking at the screen at any moment he can lmfao

Neon_ninja

OMG! Just for fun, I looked up Smile on IMDb to check what the movie is about, then clicked on the director. Parker Finn. HE LOOKS ALMOST LIKE ALEX, Like his brother or something! For a second, I thought, "Wait. Is Alex secretly a director and he watched his own movie?" lol

Kripke's Corner

Hopefully some day Alex reacts to The Boogeyman 2023

chris fumo

Adorable!

Melody Netherton

Alex he found her due to the phone was in her car and h tracked her

chris fumo

Dude that hood is massive wtf 😂

Matthew

You ain’t no fuckin psychologist 😂

RJ Torres-Encinias

Bruh get the fuck over it lmao

RJ Torres-Encinias

If any of you try and make him watch Terrifier after what u saw this movie did to him, cmon man let this guy sleep.

Luca Tittl

Loved this reaction! I made the mistake of watching this the first time when I was working from home and trying to stay up for nightshift. It definitely kept me up but not a great movie to watch alone. Had to give my cats lots of hugs during the mustache scene.

Melody Netherton

I need him to see Smile 2!!!

Emilie Margolis

A nerve has been hit? Youre so dramatic, its adorable. Its just ridiculous to suggest watching a movie can have some life changing, traumatic effect on someone and ruin their life. Its a movie, theyll be scared while watching it, then move on with their life.

jamie jones

Great Reaction! It's funny to me watching people get scared 🤣 because I don't get scared of any films or anything!! If I hear something in the house, I'm up and searching 😆

Hannah Walker

This reaction was gold! Thank you for your sacrifice. You're the best!

What I like most about the movie is the themes of trauma, mental illness, grief and guilt. The Smile entity appears to feed on unaddressed trauma and enters a person's body through a new traumatic experience. More explicitly they feed on the fact that the person has witnessed the death of a loved one: Laura saw her grandfather die when she was a child, Rose saw her mother die from an OD (and feels guilty for not helping her) and Gabriel's widow says that he still struggled with his brother's death (though it's not said if he witnessed it). To me, the entity is a depiction of trauma spreading from one person to another. The way the entity torments Rose (and presumably its other victims) and how everyone treated her and others heavily reflects how mental illnesses affect people in real life. Her problems aren't taken seriously (Trevor the boyfriend/fiancé/husband and Holly the sister irritated me so much) and she ends up severely isolating herself, much like how those with mental illnesses. They're either ignored or judged. Also, the only actual deaths in the movie aside from Mustache 💔 (whom Rose unknowingly packaged, presumably killed and gave it to her nephew for his birthday) are all either suicides or an act of violent desperation. This is accurate to the behaviour of victims of mental illness, who are much more likely to hurt themselves rather than other people and have a higher risk of suicide. And everyone besides Rose were using demeaning, harmful language, calling people "crazy", "head-cases", "nut-jobs" etc., and using the phrase "committed suicide" as if it is a crime. Rose was the only one who referred to people "dying by suicide". As a society, we need to be better about how we talk about mental health and those who are struggling. The ending has been criticised by a few fans, who choose to ignore everything after Rose kills the entity, overcomes her trauma over her mother's death and burns down her old home. This depressing ending is, however, an intentional commentary on how some traumas are too powerful for some people to ever truly overcome. Also, a lot of viewers were pissed they kept the sister's dangling head by the car window in the trailer, so for those who had seen the trailer they weren't as shocked when it happened in the movie. There is a sequel that was just released in theatres starring Naomi Scott (from the live-action Aladdin, 2019's Charlies Angels and Disney's Lemonade Mouth) and Ray Nicholson, Jack Nicholson's son. Fun facts: Sosie Bacon who plays Rose (and did an amazing job) is the daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Kyle Gallner who plays Joel was also in Jennifer's Body, The Haunting of Connecticut, the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream (2022) and shows like Veronica Mars, Smallville, CSI: NY & Outsiders. I first saw him in an episode of Cold Case where he played one of two teenagers who shot and killed people in a mall (it was heavily based on the Columbine school shooting). Caitlin Stasey who plays Laura (and does an excellent job in her short role in this movie) is an Australian actress whom I first saw in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. After moving to the US she starred in the show Reign. Paramount originally planned for the movie, which had a low budget of $17 million, to be a streaming-only release on Paramount+. It was screened for test audiences and scored much higher than anticipated, prompting Paramount to give it a theatrical release. It opened at #1 and grossed $22.6 million over its opening weekend, which exceeded their wildest expectations. It stayed in the top 10 for over two months and grossed $217 million worldwide. The movie is based on Parker Finn's short film "Laura Hasn't Slept", starring Caitlin Stasey as Laura (who reprised her role in this movie). The scene where Rose talks to Laura is a parallel to the short film. This movie was originally titled "Something's Wrong With Rose". The marketing for the movie was insane. They had several of the actors showing up at various events, mainly sports prevents, standing dead still and smiling while wearing Smile shirts. The entity's true form resembles a rotting corpse with other people inside. Director/writer Parker Finn says it is a "true look at the evil thing that's been hiding behind all the smiles". He called it Lollipop, hence the use of the song in the end credits.

Heida

This is definitely wayyyyyyy scarier than Terrifier but a lot less gory

People usually resort to “grow up” when a nerve has been hit. Psychological harm can come from movies (and games). Those who have professionally counseled others know this. When someone makes comments like Alex has, especially in his intro post for IT2, that’s a usually a sign. And the point wasn’t to call out getting enjoyment from a reaction. Nothing wrong with that. But being careful not to push someone to do something *after* they’ve already said that it’s not good for them. Just a couple of things to think about from this professor. Done.

Diana

Straight facts, appreciate ya brother🙏

Jared Johnston

Its just a movie. Its not gonna cause psychological harm or PTSD. Grow up.

jamie jones

What made it the best is that your comfort song is “Hey Ya!” By OutKast 😂 I hate scary movies too but I only watch them with you cause you help make it not as bad lol… THANK YOU FOR TORTURING YOURSELF SO I DONT HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!!!

DragonQueen

Random connection.. The dude who played the cop friend was The Flash in Smallville. Which happened to be the same show Reachers first major role as Aquaman was

Luchito Carrera

It is very wholesome to care for Alex’s well being this much, but ya don’t gotta put people down for finding enjoyment in these reactions, after all he is doing this for our entertainment and they are just movies, they ain’t gonna change reality. He’s gonna be ok👍

Jared Johnston

The Bible is 10x scarier than that movie was lol

lunasera

Not necessarily. People do things that aren’t good for them every second of every day to please others. He already made it clear in his other comments that it has a negative effect on him. Personally, I just have more concern when someone says something has a negative effect on them. I just tend to put that first when I hear someone say that.

Diana

If its realy affected Alex. He wouldnt watch it in the first place .lol you think he would trade his well being just to satisfy us ?

roberts veselis

It seems to have a real negative affect on him. I would never trade someone’s well being for a few cheap laughs.

Diana

Psalm 34:5

William Thomas

This is just banger .. we need to put more horror movies in pools i was laugh my ass of Alex you are such a pussy and i love it .. it was awsome :D:D

roberts veselis

You should watch the Adam project it's a comedy starring Ryan Reynolds!!!

Tyler Urban

Joel is a real one

Zach

Just watched this for the first time! I heard about the 2nd movie being really good too so will have to watch that. Alex prob won't watch it until next year haha

AHarmlessPear

Terrifier isn't that scary, it's more like camp 80s horror slasher but with excessive gore - and a bit of silence of the lambs style weirdness. I just watched it for the first time and didn't really enjoy (I'm not a gore person)

lunasera

RIP Mustache

Ryan Rothenbach

My favorite pass time is watching you get scared alex 😂

Annette Muina

I watched your first post with the out of sync and had a blast, gonna watch this to and probably also have a blast lmao

Too Original

I giggled so much!

Adri

I hope you’re okay

Linsey

I AM SO GLAD YOU CHOSE TO REACT TO THIS

Linsey

So lemme get this straight… you didnt wanna watch terrifier but you chose smile instead 😂 imo knowing both those movies.. smile was 100% the scarier option LMAO
