Scream (FULL MOVIE REACTION)

Hey guys!

I love you all so much, but this one was a bit of a rough one! Lol. A LOT of fucking jump scares. I know you all love that, but it wasn't too much fun reacting to it lol

This was the same as every horror movie I watch, which is, it's fun and terrible at the same exact time.

I hope you guys have an incredible end to your week, and I appreciate you all so much for all the love and support you guys show me every single day! You all are the best <3

Love,

Alex

Scream (FULL MOVIE REACTION)

Ryan Byrne

Please watch the rest of the scream movies

samuel

I love Thirteen Ghosts!

Elvithien

The soaking reference was honestly hilarious 💀💀🤣but I will say, it’s not an actual thing. Someone started a rumor and it just kept going. I find it funny, but it would still break the law of chastity. Again, still hilarious reference 😂

Sheldon

No💀it started as a rumor. Most members hear about it from people outside our church😂

Sheldon

should definitely check out Insidious!!!

Chellseegrinn

I'm such a huge fan of Matthew Lillard (Stu). He was so hilarious in this. You should check him out in Without a Paddle (he stars along side Dax Sheppard, Seth Green and Burt Reynolds, great fun movie). he also stars as Shaggy in the scooby doo films and he voices shaggy in the animated series. (Not the OG scooby doo from the 60s) but the newer ones. But he's done some really good stuff.

Ryan Towell

A masterpiece of a movie

Scream is a meta movie Wes craven made at a time when horror movies were incredibly stale. This movie is legendary and brilliant. You’ve got commenters calling it trash lmao.

Ludus Aurea

The janitor is the director. He also made nightmare on elm street.

Ludus Aurea

zimy__

This movie made me fall in love with Matthew Lillard's acting. Idiotic....

Veronica Lenée

I completely agree! I was very late to the slasher party because I don’t do well with gore, so starting out with 80s/90s classics definitely helped lol

El

Bruh wtf

Eric Meekins

I highly highly recommend the haunting of hill house

VOID Alchemist

Wtf alex you've watched peaky blinders???? 😳

zimy__

Just realized the image of Ghostface on the thumbnail is actually from Scream 4 lol

So the best jump scare in the entire movie was the end before the credits. Got Alex goooood! LOL

Kripke's Corner

Don’t forget it was a nod to Wes Craven creating Freddy Krueger as well

Devin Brown

Saw would be a really good one to watch too

Thunder

Just started a Slasher franchise everything gets explained n the other movies just gotta watch em all

Farmer Jayy

The janitor being called "Freddy" was a joke off the fact that Freddy worked as a janitor while he was alive.

Melody Netherton

Hey Alex! If you're interested in reading an essay I have some fun facts/interesting details you may have missed for you! Which of the two killers was active each scene and/or committed which murders in the movie can be figured out if paying close attention and keeping track of where Billy and Stu are: Maureen Prescott (Sidney's mother) - Both, according to them. Casey and Steve - Both. Neither Stu nor Billy would've been able to kidnap and tie Steve up by themselves. It could have been either way but something that will come up again later tells me it's Billy who killed Casey and Stu who killed Steve. The one that killed Casey stabbed her with one hand, which is Billy's M.O whereas Stu uses both hands. Casey appears to recognise the face she sees, which could've been either one of them since they were all classmates. They then both gutted and hung her from the tree. Neil Prescott's abduction (Sidney's father) - Billy and Stu went to Sidney's house, though we only see Billy on-screen, after killing Casey and kidnapped Neil so they could frame him. It can be assumed that they also took Neil's car and drove it back to Stu's house, where they abandoned him and the car (since neither are discovered until the final act). Additionally, Billy or Stu likely took Neil's house keys and used them to break in the next day and waited for Sidney to come home from school to attack her. Sidney's house attack - Billy was the one that called Sidney while Stu attacked her. Further proof that Stu is the attacker is because he grips the knife with both hands and, if one listens carefully as he chases her, he receives blows and is tripped by Sidney as he continuously grunts with his voice whuch sounds like Stu. Billy then appears at the bedroom window immediately after Sidney locks herself in her bedroom and is seen with a phone. For Billy to be the only killer there, he would have to have run downstairs, go outside to run around the house, ditch the costume and climb into Sidney's window in a matter of seconds. Call at the Tatum and Dewey's house - Stu, since Billy was in jail (to clear his name and take suspicion off of him). Sidney's bathroom attack -  Neither Billy nor Stu but a prankster. They are not armed with a knife. We know for certain that Stu is not the prankster since he is wearing khaki pants while this one is wearing jeans. It's also unlikely to be Billy since there would be no way for him to sneak into the bathroom without being seen by either Sidney or the two other girls. Principal Himbry - Billy, as his whereabouts were unknown at the time. Stu was seen with Sidney and Tatum outside the school and invited them to his party and then left. Although he could have returned to do it himself, it's more likely that Billy had the better chance. Further evidence that it is Billy is based on the way he holds the knife (with only the right hand raised up) just like how Casey was killed earlier. Ultimately, Himbry's death was used as a ruse to later get rid of the party guests at Stu's house. Stalking Sidney and Tatum - Evidence lies more on Billy because the person is obviously listening in on their conversation from afar. Given that Sidney and Tatum are best friends, Billy would most likely want to know more about Sidney and her secrets. Tatum - Billy, due to his absence from the party. Stu was busy hosting and would be unable to leave for an extended period without drawing suspicion. It is Stu, however, that closes the door behind Tatum and locks her out, which he could easily do, before going back to the party. Further evidence that Billy is the killer is that he appears at Stu's front door immediately after Tatum is killed and gives Stu an affirming look with his eyes, likely implying that she is dead. Skeet Ulrich has also confirmed that it was Billy who killed Tatum, since Billy would have more of a reason to do so, as he overheard all of the comments she made about him while stalking her and Sidney. Phone call to Randy - Although we do not hear the caller's voice on the other end of the phone, this was most likely Stu (presumably using the GF voice) calling his own landline to inform Randy and the rest of Himbry's death. Billy's fake "murder" and Sidney's attack- Obviously Stu. He then cleans the blood of the knife and chases Sidney. Also, Stu would know how to surprise her and to go the other way through the door since it is his house. Sneaking up on Randy - Stu. This is right after Sidney falls from the house and discovers Tatum's body. Stu entered the room and found Randy still there, not knowing that he would still be in the house. Further proof is that he used two hands. Kenny - Also Stu since it's immediately after. After hearing Sidney's scream for help, he ran to the van in pursuit of her and slashed Kenny's throat. Gale's van crash - After Sidney escapes the van, Billy likely helps Stu place Kenny's body on top of the van since Stu wouldn't have been able to do it by himself. After that, Stu remained in the area and presumably hid somewhere to witness Gale crash the van and assume that she was dead. Randy probably thought Stu was the killer because he saw him as GF checking if Gale was dead and (presumably) changing out of the costume. Dewey's attack - Billy. After helping Stu place Kenny's body on top of the van, Billy went back into the house and heard Dewey call out for Sidney's father, at which point Billy went downstairs and stabbed him. He then chased Sidney to the police car and snuck in through the back of the car and attempted to strangle her, which is consistent with his M.O. After Sidney escaped, he presumably met up with Stu again at which point he incorrectly informs him that Gale is dead (and possibly that Randy knows that Stu is the killer). It is confirmed since Billy asks Stu about it when Gale reappears later. After that, Billy went back up to the bedroom and pretended that nothing happened. Randy's attack is of course Billy, Stu's murder is Sidney and Billy's murder is Gale & Sidney, with the latter ending him for good. Fun facts/behind the scenes: Writer Kevin Williamson, who has co-created/written popular teen dramas like Dawson's Creek and The Vampire Diaries, had previously written an adaptation of Lois Duncan's novel I Know What You Did Last Summer in the early 1990s but no studio was interested in it, as slasher movies were considered dead at the time (no pun intended). He then got the inspiration for Scream when a news story about Gainesville Ripper came up, which involved the murders of 5 college students (the character of Cotton Weary was even inspired by the wrongful arrest of a young student). He whipped out the 120 page screenplay for Scream in about 48 hours while listening to the soundtrack for Halloween for more inspiration. When Scream became a major box office hit, he offered his I Know What You Did Last Summer script to Columbia Pictures, who immediately bought it and green-lit its production. Scream's success is credited for bringing back slashers. The Ghostface mask is based on a few things: the painting "Scream" by Edvard Munch, the characters on the cover of the Pink Floyd album The Wall and the ghostly characters that appeared in the 1930s Betty Boop cartoon. It was first developed for novelty stores during the Halloween season between 1991 and 1992 by Fun World employee Brigitte Sleiertin as part of a series titled "Fantastic Faces", the mask itself known as "The Peanut-Eyed Ghost". It was producer Marianne Maddalena who discovered the mask while inside a house during location scouting for the movie and brought it to the attention of director Wes Craven, who tried to obtain the rights to use it and change it up a bit. The final design was approved and Fun World licensing director R.J. Torbert was given the honour of naming the mask, which ended up being Ghostface because he felt it looked like a "ghost in pain". The design and title are owned by Fun World. Also, although it's usually referred to as GF, the costume is actually called "Father Death". Dewey brings a costume in the labelled package into the police station after Sidney is first attacked. Drew Barrymore, the most well-known actor in the cast at the time, was originally cast as Sidney, but then insisted that if she played Casey, a victim in just the opening scene alone, it would make the audience think anything could happen. Sidney was then re-cast (with Neve Campbell) but Drew was still credited as the lead and was front and center on the poster to mislead the audience. Absolutely brilliant marketing and it's all thanks to Drew. Wes Craven initially turned down to direct the movie because he was busy developing a remake of The Haunting and was considering distancing himself from the horror genre. He signed on to direct after Drew Barrymore agreed to appear. Also he was confronted by a little boy who was about 10 and accused him of "going soft" and that he had more guts back in the day when he was making movies like Last House on the Left. That pushed him over the edge and he agreed to do it. Drew Barrymore and Neve Campbell were actually talking to Roger Jackson, the voice of the killer, on the phone during those scenes but they did not meet him until after they shot the movie. In fact none of the cast met him until after. Director Wes Craven thought that would be better to bring out the reactions he needed from everyone when they heard the voice. At one point during the filming of the opening scene, somebody forgot to unplug the phone that Casey used to try and call the cops. This resulted in real 911 operators hearing Drew Barrymore screaming for her life on the other end and the crew were contacted by the police who thought it was real. Dewey was supposed to die from the stab wound to the back. Wes Craven filmed the scene at the end where Dewey is alive and being taken to the hospital, just in case he changed his mind about killing him. The screen test audience loved the character so much that he decided to have him survive. If you watch closely during the part where Gale is knocked out by Billy, you can see that Dewey is not breathing when Gale lands on him because he was supposed to be dead. There are quite a few ad-libs in the movie, mainly by Matthew Lillard (Stu). His line "I always had a thing for ya, Sid!" and Sidney's response "In your dreams!" were ad-libbed by Matthew and Neve Campbell. Matthew also ad-libbed the line "My mom and dad are going to be so mad at me" and "Houston, we have a problem". Kenny's response "My name is not Jesus" to Gail when she says "Jesus! The camera-hurry!" was ad-libbed by W. Earl Brown. When the phone slips out of Billy's hand and hits Stu's head, it was completely unintentional. Skeet Ulrich's (Billy) hands were so slippery due to the fake blood (which was in fact corn syrup). Director Wes Craven kept it in because of Matthew's reaction. At a 2023 Fan Expo featuring some of the original cast members, he comedically said that Skeet never apologised for the incident, which the latter finally did then and hugged him. When Sidney comes out of the closet in the costume with the mask and stabs Billy with an umbrella, the stuntman accidentally hit Skeet Ulrich in the chest the second time. Skeet has metal wiring beneath the skin from open-heart surgery he had as a child, which causes him intense pain if it's struck or has pressure applied to it, so his reaction was genuine. Wes Craven kept it in because of its authenticity. Rose McGowan (Tatum) not only fit through the pet door, she was so small that she kept falling out and they had to nail her shirt to the inside of the garage door. Also, when filming the scene, she told the producers she couldn't scream. She managed to make a few screams and, according to her, it was even her idea to have Tatum scream for her mother before she died. Principal Himbry's murder was just an excuse to get all the guests at the party to leave. It wasn't initially in the script though. It was only added after producer Bob Weinstein noticed that there was a long time since anyone died. Kevin Williamson felt it was essential for the audience to learn the killers' motives but he also felt it was potentially scarier if they had none. Opinions were split and as there were two killers, he decided to do both: Billy had a motive while Stu had none. The scene where the killer is sneaking up behind Randy is the only one where the person in the costume is actually one of the actors rather than a stuntman. Skeet Ulrich specifically asked if he could wear the costume for one scene. When the killer smashes his head through a window and Casey hits him in the face with the phone, Wes Craven is actually wearing the costume and was really hit in the face. It was also Wes Craven's idea for Casey to take the killer's mask off before he kills her. After the bathroom attack, there was a scene in the script where Sidney bursts into the principal's office and reports the incident, crying for help. Although the scene was not included in the final cut, it explains why he decided to suspend the lessons and dismiss the students. The high school scenes were to be shot at Santa Rosa High School in California. However, very close to the shooting date, the school board read the script and didn't want it to be shot there due to the violent nature, as they had been under the impression the movie was a comedy, and production was moved to Healdsburg, California. As payback, director Wes Craven put in the end credits under the "Special Thanks" section "NO THANKS WHATSOEVER TO THE SANTA ROSA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT GOVERNING BOARD". The term "Scary Movie" is mentioned 5 times, which is what Scream was originally going to be called. It was even later used for a parody movie franchise of this movie and other horror movies, such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist, The Shining, The Sixth Sense and I Know What You Did Last Summer. At one point when discussing who would play her in a movie, Dewey says he sees Sidney as a young Meg Ryan. She replies with "With my luck, it would be Tori Spelling", who was actually considered for the role of Sidney. The studio first offered the role to Claire Danes who turned it down. Other actresses that were considered included Brittany Murphy (RIP), Melissa Joan Hart, Alicia Witt, Melanie Lynskey, Melinda Clarke and Reese Witherspoon. The last turned it down to star in Fear alongside Mark Wahlberg. Joaquin Phoenix also turned down playing Billy, which is funny because he and Reese ended up starring together in Walk The Line as Johnny and June Carter Cash. Also, before Sidney and Billy were cast, Leonardo DiCaprio and Holly Marie Combs (who later starred with Rose McGowan on Charmed) screen-tested together. Wes Craven had seen Neve Campbell in Party of Five and asked her to audition for the part of Sidney. She was initially reluctant to be in another horror movie so soon after The Craft (which Skeet Ulrich starred in as well) and was afraid of being labelled a "scream queen" (which she was), but changed her mind. Brooke Shields was nearly cast as Gale but Courteney Cox wanted the part so much and fought hard to get it. She was interested in playing a "bitch" character to stray away from her "nice girl" image as Monica on Friends, which was the main reason why the producers initially refused to consider her for the part. They eventually said yes. David Arquette (Dewey) and Matthew Lillard (Stu) were initially considered for the role of Billy before being eventually cast as Dewey and Stu (David was also considered for the role of Stu). Matthew was cast by chance after accompanying his then-girlfriend to an unrelated audition taking place elsewhere in the same building. Kevin Patrick Walls, who plays Casey's boyfriend Steve, also auditioned for Billy and was given this small part as compensation for not getting the role. Breckin Meyer and Jason Lee auditioned for the role of Randy and were in the final callback along with Jamie Kennedy, who was chosen because he would often improvise humour into his lines. Courteney Cox and David Arquette started dating after meeting on set of this movie and eventually got married in 1999. They had a daughter in 2004 (Jennifer Aniston is her godmother) but sadly separated in 2010 and divorced in 2013. Sidney sticking her finger in Billy's fresh wound was devised by Wes Craven as an "intimate reverse love-making" of her penetrating him. Kevin Williamson gets more flack for the line about Tom Cruise's penis than any other in the movie. The use of caller ID increased more than threefold after the release of this movie. Horror movie and other references/cameos: The opening 12 minutes with Casey pay homage to When a Stranger Calls, one of Wes Craven's favourite horror movies. Obviously a lot of references to Halloween. One is that Billy's last name is Loomis, as in Dr. Sam Loomis, who was Michael Myers' psychiatrist. At the beginning when Casey's parents come home, her dad tells her mum to "go to the McKenzies", which is the same thing Jamie Lee Curtis's character in says to the kids she's babysitting. There's even a subtle joke when Randy is shouting at the TV for Jamie to turn around while watching the movie, not only because the killer is behind him, but also because the actor's real name is Jamie (Kennedy). Therefore he's telling himself to turn around at the same time. Also, Tatum's "This is starting to sound like one of those Wes Carpenter flicks", which is a mashup of Wes Craven and John Carpenter who directed Halloween. There are some refences to A Nightmare on Elm Street, also directed by Wes Craven. He even makes a cameo as Fred, the janitor and is wearing the same kind of sweater Freddy Krueger wears. At the beginning, Billy climbs through Sidney's bedroom window just like Johnny Depp's character did to his girlfriend. Tatum wears a #10 jersey shirt, the same kind of shirt Johnny's character wore (Rose McGowan admitted in an interview years later that she was completely unaware of it). And in the original scene when Sidney is putting out a distress call to the online 911 system, she types out her address which is "34 Elm Street", but it was cut for time. There are several Stephen King references. The fake blood (corn syrup) from Carrie. When Randy tells everyone Principal Himbry is dead and they cheer, one of them yells 'Hi-Ho, Silver, Away!', which is a phrase by one of the characters from IT (Stuttering Bill). The scene where Sidney is running from GF (Stu) after he "kills" Billy and runs through the house is similar to a scene in The Shining (when Wendy is running from the ghosts). Linda Blair who plays the daughter (Regan) in The Exorcist makes a cameo as the reporter asking Sidney what it feels like to be "almost brutally butchered", followed by "People want to know, they have a right to know". It's even funnier when you remember that earlier Billy says he was watching The Exorcist where "all the good stuff was cut out". Also, she's wearing cross earrings. Billy's "We all go a little mad sometimes" is said by Norman Bates (played by Anthony Perkins) in Psycho. When principal Himbry opens the closet, actor Henry Winkler's black leather Fonzie jacket from the show Happy Days is hanging in it. Also, when he turns and scares himself in the mirror, he begins to fix his hair like he did on the show. After Billy takes Sidney upstairs, Randy says  "There goes my chances with Sid" and Stu says "As if" to which Randy replies "Oh Really Alicia". This is a nod to the 90s classic Clueless, which starred Alicia Silverstone. Foreshadowing: In the opening scene there is a shot of Casey's house that shows a rope swing in the tree outside. Later when Casey is killed, her body is hanging from the tree using the ropes from that very rope swing. The killer asks Casey to guess which of the two doors to her house he is hiding behind and ahe seems to guess wrong. However, since there were two killers, it was actually a trick question, because whichever door she chose, one of the killers would get her. When Sidney and Billy are together at the start, "Don't Fear the Reaper" is playing; foreshadowing the identity of (one of) the killer(s). During the scene with Sidney, Tatum and Stu by the locker, Stu can be seen in the background using a mirror. He may have been doing this to check for any possible bumps or bruises after taking part in the attacks on Sidney and Casey the previous two nights. When Sidney comes home after school, turns off the TV and walks by the closet, a creaking noise is very noticeably heard from inside, foreshadowing that she is not home alone and that the killer is already in the house. Randy correctly identifies Billy and Stu as the killers. He accuses Stu at the beginning when all the kids are at school talking about the murders and then he accuses Billy in the video store. At the beginning of the scene where Billy and Sidney have sex, Billy can seen looking the door, making sure it's open for when Stu arrives later. This was Skeet Ulrich's idea.

Heida

now he’s gotta watch scary movie

BrianFitz 70

Gotta do scream 2!

Joshua Johnson

YESSSSSSSSSS

Devin Brown

Wait he's watch Peaky Blinders???

Redious

Oh I guess you’re right…

DragonQueen

Now we make him watch Smile

Thunder

You should watch it chapter 2

Tayden

Nah you need scream 4. Especially for scream 6.

lunasera

I always say slashers are a good way to ease someone into the horror genre

Markimus Gaming

As long as we’re persistent by suggesting the next movie for the polls each week then we’ll have a higher chance of getting him to watch them all quickly.

🎧🎥EVAN🎬🍿

They mention what happens with Cotton (the guy on death row) in the 2nd one.

WillowAndFog

Scream 2 continues the story and helps tie up loose ends… but isn’t as good as the first… in my opinion you can jump to Scream 5

DragonQueen

I’m so glad you did this finally!!! I expect scream 2 won’t be on the books for a while? Though…..I’d say, they are more enjoyed closer together! So I do hope you do! And if you’re still not hooked by then…. We can leave you alone!

Markimus Gaming

Your question at the end gets explored in Scream 2. 🙃

lunasera

Dude, Alex, you need to make this a series. This was my first time watching anything Scream as well. I know you don't like horror movies, but please consider it!

Henry Carhart

Man I loved Matthew Lillard in this movie. He also played Shaggy in the Live action Scooby doo Movies. In real life he is such a fun down to earth guy from what I have heard. Would love to meet him one day

Zombieki11er451

The janitor dressed as Freddy Krueger was played by the director of the movie Wes Craven, who also wrote/directed A Nightmare On Elm Street.

🎧🎥EVAN🎬🍿

You guys need to remember that Alex isn't a horror movie aficionado 🤣 Scream may not be as scary to you, but it's just enough spooks for him to (kind of) enjoy himself haha Things like Terrifier, Barbarian, and Talk To Me would honestly be too much. Lighter flicks like Get Out, Halloween, The Shining/Doctor Sleep, Pearl/X/Maxxxine, and The Strangers should be a good start!

El

You should watch “Wild Things.” Neve Campbell, Denise Richards, Kevin Bacon, and Matt Dillon. Drew Barrymore was a huge star at the time. The ads showed her as a main character. Killing her off in the opening was shocking.

Brian Stanaland

You will need to watch scream 2 , if you want to know what happened to the guy who was in prison lol

LexTheRanger

I went back to that jump scare at the end way too many times 😂

Annette Muina

The fact that you realized this is a meta movie five minutes in is why your one of my favorite reactors! I love how into the movie you get so many reactors only half pay attention.

Melody Netherton

The best part is always Jamie Kennedy telling Jamie Lee Curtis to "Look behind you, Jamie!"

Zach Engle

Like no Halloween or Friday the 13th? Or nightmare?

Logan Staffer

Is this the first slasher u have ever seen?

Logan Staffer

I hope you watch Scary Movie 1 that is so funny and its mostly focussing on this Scream movie.

Joovain

Nah, they ruined it after firing Melissa and then Jenna left so its probably not gonna be that good.

Joovain

Idk if he can handle the terrifier 2. I love it but idk if he can handle it

Mikael Morgan

Alex needs to watch in”THE DARK” Salem’s Lot, The Boogeyman and The Terrifier 2

chris fumo

Everyone cares about scream 7 my guy

Jordan Wing

I have 1 really good tv show suggestion. Its called "Lucifer" and it's available on Netflix and it has 6 seasons and some seasons are short and some long. Episodes are 40-50 minutes each without counting end credits.

Joovain

I hope you watch whole franchise. There is now currently 6 screams and 7 is coming but no one cares about scream 7 cause some important actors got fired.

Joovain

Scream is an absolute classic made to parody horror tropes It’s just a fun film. What makes it even better is that there is a parody of scream, “Scary Movie”. Scary Movie just goes and completely makes fun of every aspect of a film it would be right up your alley they make the same jokes you do lol same sense of humor. Yeah that’s what a few ppl were worried about with you watching scream. Scream is pretty meta with it’s parody on horror films talking a lot about and spoiling some older classics ie Friday the 13th

Nightmareman99

I'm glad you reacted to this but I do hope you watch paranormal activitiy now 😊
