I don’t know ANYTHING about DP&W except for the fact that there are some cameos in there (as there are in every DP movie)
My question to you is, should I watch movies before watching DP&W?
and if so, which ones?

The effect simply isn't the same when you watch the movies back-to-back. An "oh my god, this character that has 5 minutes of screentime was in that other movie I watched 2 days ago!" isn't worth someone watching, what...six (?) movies to catch up with what is essentially fan service 🥴 I'm not saying he shouldn't do it, I grew up with them and shed a few (dozen) tears when credits rolled, but he doesn't HAVE to if he's really pumped to watch D&W, ya know? SebScreen hasn't seen Daredevil or Blade either, yet that fact didn't dampen his experience because they're cameos and have very little to do with the actual plot

In fact if you don’t know who they are, then it’s not even really a cameo, it’s just a character that is introduced and then axed immediately, which to me makes it way worse. I’m sure people could take educated guesses and get the cameos right, but I’m betting your friend super didn’t care about any of them, and probably won’t remember any of the cameos either. I’m also not sure how you can say that the movies spoil the cameos, in what way? Other than it tells you who the actor will be IF they make a cameo appearance, which is also not a spoiler, because it doesn’t tell you anything about where they will appear in cameos. A “spoiled” cameo is where you have no idea who it is and then when they leave, you just shrug and never think about it again. That’s a failed/spoiled cameo. Which is more or less what you’re setting people up for with this take.

Daredevil is also ok but don’t go in expecting the tv show. The f4 films I never really liked. But even if you went in blind your still enjoy the hell out of the film just knowing about these other films makes the experience greater

Ff4 has a 5.7 out of 10 (super low) Ff2 has a 5.6 out of 10 Blade has a 7.1 out of 10 (which is fine but not great like average ish ) Electra has a 4.7 out of 10 which is just awful. The Thomas Jane Punisher movie, the Dolph Lundgren one, the Punisher Warzone film...I mean if you want to catch every nuance and subtle wink, yeah, you got a lot of homework, oh yeah - Daredevil/Elektra as well - yeesh. But it does make it that much more rewarding as well, especially for those of us who sat in the Theaters for each of those when they came out.

They just care about getting bathe reaction earlier rather than the he best possible reaction which will only come if you do the homework and watch all the relevant content. I'm willing to give Ryan Reynolds and the creators credit for good intentions, but I found this aspect of the movie very underwhelming. (As opposed to Spider-Man: No Way Home.) Just one recommendation: take a very brief look at the IMDb page for Fantastic Four (2005).

I've seen a lot of the Xmen, Blade, Elektra etc. movies but it's been so long I've forgotten a lot of it except for the main characters themselves & I still caught a lot of references. Also knowing some things (without spoiling it) who is married to who & their drama or certain studio decisions, actors being replaced etc. then you're also good to catch the shade thrown lolol. So I'd say watch previous movies if you want to catch more references & water eggs but I think you'll still enjoy it plenty without the most in depth knowledge & you can always watch breakdowns on YT afterwards. Plus people love to educate in the comments so you'll be good!
