This was such a fun movie to rewatch! I picked up on SO MANY DETAILS (not a Toro y Moi reference) that I didn't catch the first time! Honestly, Harry Potter is packed with so many easter eggs and details in there, that this felt like I was watching the movie for the first time.

2025-01-04 19:04:58 +0000 UTCYou are correct that Harry was an accidental Horcrux. The reason it wasn't destroyed is that the Horcrux needs to be damaged beyond repair for it to break. Had Harry died, the piece of Voldemort's soul inside him would have died as well, but Harry was not damaged beyond repair, as Fawkes was able to heal him. That said, the basilisk venom was powerful enough to destroy an inanimate object, so they were able to use it to destroy a horcrux. Additionally, the reason Gryffindor's sword was able to destroy horcruxes was that the sword was goblin-made and only took in things that would make it stronger. When Harry stabbed the basilisk with the sword, it became impregnated with basilisk venom.

Itâs similar to a wizards âconfundusâ (the one used by Hermione against the asshole, Cormac, trying out for keeper against Ron). It makes it so muggles are repelled from the area if they get too close/curious. Basically youâll be moving towards something and then suddenly find yourself wandering the other direction with no recollection of what you were just doing. Genius stuff!

I wish we couldâve gotten the version with Harrmione too đ

That's my favorite series of all time. I have seen it more than 20 times and I still enjoy it a lot. But I now know everything that happens and I would love to experience it again without any knowledge.

On a more realistic note, itâs probably just because it makes for a more entertaining movie haha. As awful as they are, the scenes with them are always so great.

Granted, both are composed by John Williams and they came out the exact same year, but it's still cool to see. Williams literally just used the same pieces of music but changed and intertwined different tunes from each of their respective series.

The books explain how Tomâs mother was abused and mistreated by her father and brother, when they go to jail for attacking a muggle, her powers blossom and she bewitches a muggle (Tom riddle sr) to fall in love with her. She eventually feels bad for putting a spell on him and lifts the enchantment. In doing this she thought he would at least stay when he learned she was pregnant with tom jr. he of course left her to fend for herself and she dies giving birth to him in an orphanage.

Before Christian Coulson was cast as Tom Riddle, Eddie Redmayne, who later played Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts films (a prequel/spin-off to Harry Potter), auditioned for the role. Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) originally auditioned for Lockhart. Shirley Henderson who plays Moaning Myrtle was 36 in this film. It is a common joke that she was played by Daniel Radcliffe in a wig, due to the actors' similar looks, heights (at the time) and the fact that both were wearing large round glasses. There are quite a few improvised/unscipted lines/actions in this film. Mr. Weasley's âWhat, exactly, is the function of a rubber duck?" was improvised by Mark Williams. Tom Felton improvised Draco's "I didn't know you could read" to Harry disguised as Goyle because he forgot his line. Furthermore, Lucius' and Harry's exchange just before Lucius leaves Dumbledore's office was completely improvised by the actors on the spot. Jason Isaacs said "Let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day" and Daniel Radcliffe immediately replied "Don't worry, I will be". Also, him kicking Dobby down wasn't in the script either, and since Dobby was CGI-ed in later, Jason Isaacs basically kicked the air. Hermione was supposed to hug both Harry and Ron but Emma Watson was so embarassed to hug both boys in front of everyone so she ended up shaking Rupert's hand. And Crabbe wasn't supposed to stand up and clap for Hagrid. The actor, Jamie Waylett, just got caught up in the moment and Tom Felton also improvised Draco pulling him down. Lucius starts to use the Killing Curse "Avada Kedavra" on Harry after leaving Dumbledore's office. To actually try to kill a child in the middle of a school makes him seem quite dumb. But Jason Isaacs explained that the book didn't mention any specific spell and this was the only one he could remember. Also, unrelated, but Jason is the voice of the basilisk, which is the voice Harry hears. I think there are two main reasons why Harry doesn't tell Dumbledore or one of the teachers about the voice he hears. 1. He already feels like a 'freak' so he doesn't want more attention on himself by being the person who can hear voices no one else can. 2. Growing up at the Dursleys, Harry has a hard time putting much trust into adults. Plus, the teachers couldn't protect him during his first year and when they tried to tell McGonagall about the stone she didn't listen. It's almost universally agreed upon that the films did Ron dirty. One of the most notable ways was how most of his best lines were given to Hermione. One notable example of this is when Hermione is the one to explain what "Mudblood" means instead of Ron. In the book, Ron is also the one who points out how ridiculous the whole idea of wizarding blood supremacy is (instead of Hagrid). Spiders fear the basilisk because it kills using eye contact, and since spiders have eight eyes (or more) all around their head and can't close them they are pretty vulnerable. Also, wearing glasses does not protect a person from dying by the basilisk's eyes, because glasses still allow one's line of vision to connect directly and clearly with the snake's eyes, unlike looking in a mirror or through a camera. The car was just a regular car until Mr. Weasley bought and magically altered it to make it fly and become invisible, as well as stretching the carâs interior, making it suitable for more people. It had gained some level of sentience or autonomy due to the enchantments placed on it by him. It seems resentful after the abuse it suffers from the Whomping Willow and so it escapes into the Forbidden Forest. It then showed great loyalty and helped Ron and Harry. In a deleted scene, Ron says that the forest has turned the car wild (he made a similar statement in the book). Remember Harry spoke to the snake in the zoo in the first film, though not in the Parseltongue language. When he spoke to the snake here, telling them not to attack Justin, it was him speaking in Parseltongue without realising it or knowing he could. In the book it's revealed that Filch is actually a Squib, which is a non-magical person who is born with at least one magical parent (kind of the opposite of a Muggleborn). Muggles can't see certain magic, like them running into the platform, due to an Illusion Charm and a Muggle-Repelling Charm. They just see a regular wall. Foreign language translations had to change Tom Marvolo Riddle's name, so that an appropriate anagram could be formed. In Icelandic (my language) his name is "Trevor DĂŠlgome" which aligns with "Ăg er Voldemort". A sweet behind the scenes story is that during production, Emma Watson frequently brought her pet hamster Millie on set but, unfortunately, Millie passed away shortly after filming began. The set department created a specially-made hamster coffin for her. There is an extended version of the film which involves deleted scenes like Lucius and Draco in Burgin & Burkes in Knockturn Alley (Jason Isaacs accidentally injured Tom Felton with the cane), the students taking a quiz about Lockhart, Harry overhearing some students in the library debating whether he is the Heir of Slytherin, Justin introducing himself to Harry in the Dueling Club, Crabbe & Goyle waking up and running into Harry & Ron, and more.
