The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (FULL MOVIE REACTION)

Hey everyone!

I hope you have had an incredible week! It's FRIDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! (in a non-Rebecca Black annoying ass way voice) I FINALLY got to check out The Chronicles of Narnia!

If you guys enjoy this reaction half as much as I enjoyed making it, this will be your favorite reaction that you've watched in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!

I noticed something REALLY interesting about this movie.... Totally wild! I mention it throughout the reaction!

I love you all so much, and I hope you guys have a great weekend!

See everyone next week,

Alex

Comments

You mean the one with Johnny depp? I was fascinated by this one!

Rocketboy

definitely not charlie and the chocolate factory 7 or whatever that movie was called

jamie minnell

havent seen this movie since i was a kid and didnt remember Professor X was The Goatman

jamie minnell

Man i miss times when these kind of movies were made… this got me dreaming and the child i was was opening praying my closet would also send to some magical realm. What movies now can make children dream like we used to? Idk

Rocketboy

Alex, you have to start watching sequels! You can't just leave a franchise like this unfinished. It's been almost 3 months since this reaction... who knows when its sequel will win a poll? It could be a year or more. I know it's your channel, and I'm gonna love ya regardless. But please don't leave sequels to this up to chance.

LoganPool

This was freaking awesome man haven’t smiled this much in so long

Lewis Ramos

Please watch the entire series!

BeachBum

In the book, CS Lewis kinda of just heavily implies that their memories of Narnia become like a blurred memory of a good dream so his characters don’t have to deal with that trauma of just having full on adult personalities back in kid bodies in a different world. The Prince Caspian movies tries to wrestle with that identity crisis a bit but not enough to derail the movie. And the Voyage of the Dawn Treader mentions it briefly in the beginning and then completely dropped. Maybe they could have done more with it if they had completed the series🤷🏾‍♀️

Lena Herbert

All of CS Lewis' books and writings were very heavy into Christianity.

Ryan Towell

We have Wardrobes as well, but not as popular since just about every home have closets in their bedrooms. For example I have a walk in closet in my bedrooms, however my wife still has a wardrobe which she has hoodies, and some shirts hanging up in and her PJ's, socks intimates in the drawers in her wardrobe as well.

Ryan Towell

When this movie came out, my wife was totally stoked she grew up reading the book, I had not, i had heard of it but I wasn't really into fantasy books in middle school, I was into Stephen King ha. But we watch this movie with our kids and now grandkids. And yes all of CS Lewis' writings here heavily influenced by Christianity. As for Edmund I always thought of his as Judas, betrayal for turkish delight instead of 30 pieces of silver.

Ryan Towell

Pretentious and condescending. That’s what annoys me about people behind a screen

Oliver James

Seems like u haven’t been a member very long then, bc he mentioned it many times when the first LOTR suggestions started pouring in (a year ago almost) that he won’t start with LOTR before he’s finished with Star Wars. Also, if u think I get annoyed by stranger’s comments on Patreon, you’re probably just projecting your own annoyance to my reply. As I mentioned in my previous comment.. patience..

Purple Cowboy

Lots of childhood memories comming back with this one. Now we need to get the rest of them. ASAP

Daniel Nordbø

I can’t wait till this series continues. It’s so friggin good. So nostalgic it brings back my imagination for a while.

Malachi Vann

In case nobody said it yet, the Turkish delight that Edmund ate was enchanted which is why he was so eager to do what the white witch told him to. It’s like the one area that failed in book to movie adaptation Also the old professor was one of the first people to be in Narnia, he was a kid and was there when Aslan created it. He’s also the reason the white witch ended up in Narnia funnily enough.

Skifter889

I don't know what you're talking about cuz the White Witch was beautiful! Her wardrobe was 🔥! She looked powerful and especially her battle dress where she had Aslan's mane incorporated into her chainmail! 😍😍😍

Seelia

@Purple Cowboy. It doesn't bother me. Realistically, all religions are man made beliefs. Not like any one GOD actually showed up and said "follow me," so I treat them like fantasy. 😅 The kids did grow up in Narnia and remember their adult lives but when they returned, they're treated like children again so they start thinking like children again.

Seelia

This story is what made me fall in love with fantasy. I watched a cartoon version of it by accident when I was very little and instantly knew fantasy would be my favorite. The power of magic and make believe was enchanting. It has shaped my whole life. I hope you watch more! This reaction is what brought me to your patreon finally. 😂

Seelia

Closet! A dresser has drawers, but you could walk into a closet.

lunasera

Dresser

Eric Cartman

Genuine question I’m not from the US so what word do u say instead of wardrobe?

Joel

I haven't seen any of the movies except for the original and I think part of one of the sequels (I don't remember which) in probably around 10 years, so it'll be fun watching it for the first time in a decade with you Alex!

PixelBrady_YT

I like how Tilda Swinton plays a satan figure here and a Jesus figure in Doctor Strange

MyRottenSold1er

You should react to narnia prince caspian!

Noah Taft

Well then I would definitely not read The last book in the series. It throws away all the subtleness. And pretty much goes states Aslan is Jesus. Also they all die. It's a weird book.

Caleb Lefebvre

Narnia is SO underrated! The casting is perfect and the acting is outstanding (in particular Tilda Swinton as The White Witch). The visuals and the cinematography is phenomenal. The score is SO good, I was obsessed with it (and still am). Everything about it is just amazing. Also, my 12 year old self had such a crush on William Moseley (Peter). Fun facts/details: The Magician’s Nephew (which is the second-to-last published book and first chronologically) is about the creation of Narnia and tells the story of a boy named Digory Kirke, who is the professor in this one (and is played by Jim Broadbent aka Prof. Slughorn in Harry Potter) and his friend Polly, who use magic rings to access “The Wood Between the Worlds", which is full of pools that act as portals to other realms (one of which is the yet-to-be-born world of Narnia). Digory later built the wardrobe using wood from a Narnian tree. C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were indeed very close friends and you hit the nail on the head about the Christian allegory throughout the film. Tolkien was even instrumental in Lewis' own conversion to Christianity. Aslan represents Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself and died for our sins (in this case Edmund's) and rose back from the dead because he was innocent. Although Lewis did not originally set out to incorporate Christian elements and themes into the books, it is something that occurred as he wrote them. The character of The White Witch was inspired by the Snow Queen from the story by Hans Christian Andersen (Elsa from Frozen is loosely based on her too since she was originally supposed to be the villain). Also, the Turkish Delight was enchanted and highly addictive, making the one who ate it want more and more as well as being more susceptible to give out information (though Edmund's resentnent towards Peter definitely helped). Edmund has often been compared to Judas, who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Edmund betrays Aslan, who represents Jesus, for "30 pieces" of Turkish Delight. J.K. Rowling has said she was influenced by Narnia and whether it was on purpose or not, each of the Pevensie children could represent each of the houses in Hogwarts. Peter = Gryffindor: Brave, loyal, honourable, chivalrous, a natural fighter & leader and protects his family at all costs but is impulsive and proud. Edmund = Slytherin: Ambitious, resourceful and falls into temptation to gain power & recognition. Susan = Ravenclaw: Logical, wise, intelligent, witty, caring and often the voice of reason. She also has a bit of Slytherin in her: Ambitious and resourceful. Lucy = Hufflepuff: Kind, helpful, selfless, forgives easily and treats everyone as equals. She also has a bit of Gryffindor in her: Brave and loyal. Georgie Henley's (Lucy) first reaction to Narnia is genuine. They didn't let her see the set until they filmed it. Her reaction to Mr. Tumnus is also genuine, for she had not seen James McAvoy in his costume before the scene was filmed. And Georgie's older sister Rachael plays grown-up Lucy. Obviously, Narnia time works differently than the real world. In the books, Narnia time from beginning to end covers ca. 2500 years while in the real world, that same time only covers 50 years. I didn't notice Jadis wearing Aslan's mane during the battle for the longest time, and if I remember correctly that wasn't in the book. The third film is not as good as the other two but still entertaining. But it's unfortunate 'cause they never finished the franchise. They were also competing with bigger franchises like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games but they were gonna adapt The Magician's Nephew, the first book of the series, until Walden Media lost its rights to the franchise in 2011. The Mark Gordon Company retained the rights instead to adapt the next book in the franchise, The Silver Chair. But for some reason that never happened, and in 2018, Netflix acquired the rights to develop their own Narnia reboot. In 2023 it was announced that Greta Gerwig was set to direct at least two of the novels for Netflix (whether it's two of these remade or any of the other four I don't know). Lastly, if you want to see a more grown-up and different side to Lucy's actress Georgie Henley, I recommend Perfect Sisters. It's based on the real life murder of Linda Andersen (played by Mira Sorvino) who was killed by her two teenage daughters (played by Georgie and Abigail Breslin).

Heida

she also voices the deeps aquatic friend 🤫 and mr tumnes is prof x

Jordan Dempster

Did you notice the white queen is the same actress as The Ancient One from the MCU?

James (Tony) Costabile

This comment should be deleted. Even if you don’t believe the divinity of Jesus most things in the Bible including Jesus existence has been scientifically proven. It’s not “made up”

Sean Fuller

Didnt see him say that, but ill keep commenting it, just to annoy you in future

Oliver James

thank you

X3TRiller

I gotta say the whole religious thing ruined it for me. I remember watching this when I was younger and I didn’t know about all the symbolism. I liked it better, now that I know, it takes the joy out of it. The one thing that has always bothered me of the script was that, if they basically grew up in Narnia and returned as kids but still remembered everything, wouldn’t they have the “wisdom”/experiencing of being adults? Meaning they’d be adults trapped in teenage and children bodies in the real world. Because Lucy acted the age she appears when she comes back and before they return she’s a young adult. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I feel like that’s an inconsistency. Nevertheless I’m happy you enjoyed it.

Purple Cowboy

You say fictional character, yet even atheists are professing that there must be a God after the last few decades of scientific discovery, not to mention, that the Bible happens to be the most historically accurate document in human history, and a book like which there is no other. It takes far more faith to be an atheist ironically.

Michael Shelton

These LOTR comments are really getting so old. It’s like a broken record. He has said multiple times they ain’t happening before 2025. So maybe a little patience is in order.

Purple Cowboy

Doesn’t matter which fictional creature or figure people believe in, it’s all the same anyways 😄

Purple Cowboy

These LOTR comments are really getting so old. It’s like a broken record. He has said multiple times they ain’t happening before 2025. So maybe a little patience is in order.

Purple Cowboy

I agree 100%, these constant comments “watch LOTR…” “when will you watch LOTR…” “why haven’t you watched LOTR yet…” “I can’t believe you re watched HP before LOTR…” are really getting so old. He has said hundreds of times they ain’t coming before 2025. So maybe a little patience is in order.

Purple Cowboy

Ain’t it all just the same old made up stuff that is thrown around in those cults..I mean “religions” 😆

Purple Cowboy

That was my only criticism about the movie, does everything have to be tight to a some made up belief system? Any time I re-watch the film I try not to remember that Aslan is based on some fictional “religious” figure. Otherwise this movie is fantastic!

Purple Cowboy

probably Amazon, just google it, pretty sure you’ll get a match with the right search terms.

Purple Cowboy

You definitely need to watch Alice in Wonderland with Johnny depp it’s so good. I think you would love it.

kate

Tilda Swinton actually did play Satan in The Passion of the Christ. She also played Gabriel in Constantine. Angels are said to have no gender so she was cast in both those angelic roles due to her ability to portray androgynous power and intensity.

Josh Bruner

Your humor is unmatched. “I thought they were eating him out”. Immediately realized what he said 🤣🤣🤣

Isaiah Bradford

I grew up on the tv series that was made in 1988. The books/series/movies are all SO heavily "Christian" based, personally not a believer anymore but love these movies.

Asheenah

His new movie "speak no evil" was amazing!

Asheenah

Btw in the book, the Turkish delight does have an addictive/ drug-like affect once eaten, hence Edmund doing anything to get more.

Sarah Watson

Alex! Think you’ll appreciate this short about the kids coming back from Narnia 😂 https://youtube.com/shorts/vcx9CxlGGVY?si=39Yb1wjQdf2ey8IT

Andrew Pudwill

The books are religious Aslan is based off Jesus

Carmen

The books are very religious based Aslan is sort of based off of Jesus and Narnia is heaven

Carmen

Since you've watched this one you need to watch the parody movie to this, it's called epic movie

Shawn Mittlieder

alex I have been wondering where did you buy the Vecna and Michael myers masks you have in your room?

X3TRiller

This movie was so much better than I remembered lol

Matthew

Also, Aslan resurrected just like Jesus did. I never thought about all this while watching the movie young. Are you gonna watch the second one?

MrPeran

I hope when he does this in 2025 he does the hobbit directly after them. I like the hobbit more.

Thomas

I personally like the third the most.

Thomas

Yes, that theory I have heard too. I don't know if it could be true. But it all fits so well!

Thomas

James mcavoy is such a good actor

Annette Muina

I’d be surprised at not having seen LOTR but most reactors were like 8 or younger when it came out so I give them a pass.

Ludus Aurea

I believe in the books the Turkish Delights were spelled so he would want more

Carmen

I love how His Holiness (plus Michael) was photo bombing you in your corner bubble the whole time. It amused me greatly!

Carrie Schwent

I know what you mean. Most of the time I know one is coming and focus on Alex. He doesn't disappoint. Hopefully he will understand us enjoying those moments.

Carrie Schwent

Has he done reaction to The hunger games movies yet??? A MUST!! 🔥🔥

Cooking with Emerson

Please watch Epic Movie - 2007 😂 a movie that makes fun of other movies

Nikolas Wilde

Alex I don’t wanne hurt you but your getting grey hairs but your greyt

tomasz

An even more fun fact is that Tolkien was a Catholic but when Lewis came to Christ he chose to be a Protestant instead lol

Emily

FUN FACT: C.S Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were great friends. But they were also TOTALLY POLAR OPPOSITES in terms of writing and vision for their worlds that they created. Tolkien's Middle Earth was very much kinda doom and gloom. There was hope but ultimately filled with darkness. Whereas Lewis's world was always very hopeful and magical with friendship being a main theme. And their differences ultimately led to the relationship between them falling apart. Lewis hated how Tolkien used religion and got inspired by it to write the entire Middle Earth legendarium. And Tolkien hated how Lewis "mishmashed" different legends and myths. FUN FACT NR 2: Tolkien led Lewis into Christianity.

IGOR PODEMSKI

I hope you go back and watch the professor’s speech when he brings the kids to his office, you were looking at the camera commenting on something and missed the whole thing.

Tara

Alex, since you like this, I think you will love LOTR and when you do react to it , please watch the extended versions. Most reactors I’ve seen have watched those and can’t imagine what scenes they would cut out. Another reactor watched the theatrical version of the first movie and then watched the extended for the other two and said they were going to go back and watch the extended version of the first to see what they missed. It’s also important not to to talk to the camera too long and pay attention, you might miss some important details

Tara

He already said MULTIPLE TIMES that he is going to watch LOTR in 2025. So stop with the comments until 2025 please.

IGOR PODEMSKI

Okay so you said you’d love to go to Hogwarts and Narnia… which one would you choose between the two? For me, Hogwarts and it’s not even close lol

Cory

I'm talking about the original scriptures. Not translations. Vs the changes made to the dictionary

Michael Shelton

Don’t know why but this is just making me want Alex to do a bridge to terabithia reaction asap. Man would cry like a bitch……. Much like everyone else who’ve seen that film as a kid….. But yeah time is weird in Narnia. She was gone for anywhere from 4-10 hours in Narnia but only 6-7 seconds passed in the real world

Nightmareman99

The bible has been changed and retranslated millions of times as our understanding of the old languages evolve, There are also many different translations of the bible. It just depends on what religion you are a part of or who you believe in.

Viska Kuna

A compilation of all your jump scares would be hilarious. It always cracks me up. Love you Alex.

Patrick S

Haven't watched The LW&W in YEARS, but so glad I rewatched with you. Didn't know I would feel the nostalgia as much as I did... Really great watch for me, Alex. Thanks for reacting.. Also, Idk WHY you haven't watched the LOTR... but I can't wait until you decide to!

MikeyB!

Peter - Gryffindor ❤️🦁 Susan - Ravenclaw 💙🦅 Lucy - Hufflepuff 💛 🦡 Edmund - Slytherin 💚 🐍

Elizabeth D

Agree completely

Therogueone2103

Please watch the extended editions of lord of the rings. They’re going to blow you away

Rrishii99

The lion with the glasses and mustache at the end was one of the statues in the witches castle edmund drew on the glasses and mustache earlier in the movie

Quinton

I remember my dad had this series of books and I read them in high school, I still love them to this day the movies are pretty good.

Breezybaby

a lord of the rings reaction would be amazing

Oliver James

Fun Fact: in every scene with an animal which is not talking, is a real animal for a better imagination of the world

Astoria

Surprised to see James McAvoy (Mr. Timnus) and Tilda Swinton (White Witch) in this! One future Charles Xavier, and the other future The Ancient One (MCU).

Robert Miller

The evacuation of children from cities to the countryside is familiar history for Brits but probably not for those in the USA. This film does a decent job of showing what it might have been like. Parents could not be evacuated with their kids, they had to stay behind in the cities.

Sarah Watson

This movie is completely religious dude!

Gui Palomino

I feel so dumb i have seen this movie maybe 50 time and i always thought the fauns name was Thomas.

Jacob

My family and I love this movie! Our family has the exact same structure as the Pevensies: Eldest brother (me), older sister, younger brother, youngest sister, and we all related to each of the children in many ways. Also, the subtitles in this movie still irritate me for not being complete lmfao. My sister and I used to play the videogame for this movie together on GameCube all the time!! The British (and probably most European governments) sent most of their children away from the cities to keep them safe from the enemy bomber raids during WWII. They couldn't send everyone, so they prioritized the children. Watching someone react to the magic of this movie for the first time is its own kind of magic. Tumnus' lullaby is one of my favorite parts. I can even whistle most of it XD If you want to try Turkish Delight; don't. Make it yourself, or don't bother spending money on it. It's pretty much just gelatin rolled in powdered sugar. It's alright, but not "I'm gonna betray my family for it" good lmao ALEX I can't believe you talked over the Professor's entire speech! I wish me and my siblings had listened to it and taken it more to heart, that's for sure. I LOVE MR. AND MRS. BEAVER!!! "I ain't gonna smell it, if that's what you want." XDXD Maugrim is so badass! Such a killer voice. After this movie, I finally realized the true possibilities of Christmas presents: I no longer wanted toys or video games. I wanted swords and bows and arrows! XD Liam Neeson as Aslan is such PERFECT casting!! Phillip is such a great character lmao The Sacrifice is such a badass scene! The lighting, the sound, the creatures. Everything! This movie has one of the BEST battle/fight scenes I've ever seen in a movie. Just realistic enough, but also with plenty of fantasy flair to make it look badass! The Phoenix Arrow is another one of my favorite concepts! (I think this comment is long enough, so I'm gonna leave it here and just enjoy the rest of the reaction XD)

DarnedStingray8

It's funny, up until like earlier this year I had no idea there were other Narnias 😂

jace Z

im i the onely one waiting for the next Harry Potter reaction

Anders.hellevang

I FREAKING LOVE NARNIA MOVIES!!! CHILDHOOD MEMORIES MAN

Cooking with Emerson

The arrow was just a signal for the phoenix to attack

Michael Shelton

Funny enough, if you look in a two hundred year old dictionary before they changed things, if you looked under the word rhinoceros, you would find there used to be 2 categories one with a single horn, 1 with 2. The one with a single horn was known as a unicorn, and if you looked under the definition of unicorn, it was rhinoceros. And unicorns are referenced in the Bible. Which is why some call it a mythic tale. Even though it never described them as a horse with a horn... yet another thing changed by those in power in an attempt to discredit the bible.

Michael Shelton

I haven't seen this movie in a minute

Bmaster532

First off, Petition to potentially continue with "Prince Caspian?" Second, the nostalgia kick I got from this reaction was UNREAL! I read "The Chronicles of Narnia" books Sooooo many times growing up and watched the movies thrice as many times. Low key had me in my feels at a few parts simply from the nostalgia. 🤣🤣

CephQuepheas

You’re probably right about the teacher reading the books! I had a bunch of em read to me in my school days Too!

Markimus Gaming

Yessss!!! Man i yelled when i saw this was posted. A real childhood movie one of my favorites. I use to act out every fighting scene😂

Derion taylor

The wardrobe works like the cupboard in the movie.Indian in the cupboard... Where you open it once and it's the portal to Narnia. You close it and open it again, and it's normal. Then you close it and open it again, and it's magic again.

Michael Shelton

Yesss

Serenity Monet

Now we got another trilogy to watch nothing beats the first film tho

Farmer Jayy

Me before starting the video: WOW this went up sooner than I was expecting! Me right after starting the video: Why is Alex giving the pope a noogie...?

DarnedStingray8

After you watch the reaction, you should watch this. It’s 2min and hilarious. https://youtu.be/waKc9C76W14?si=3cGxQPaPTW0Xu2yI

Mercy

I only have seen 2 Star Trek shows. Only a few episodes of doctor who, seen all of Fawlty towers, a little of Korean dramas, and a lot of anime. I have never seen lost, or breaking bad so

Zombieki11er451

As a Star Wars guy it pains me to say it but Star Trek is among that list too. If you reside outside the US Dr. Who is a must as well or if you are a worldly American 😂

Mad Lad Wizard

I wish Tangled won

Joovain

Oh also the professor is played by the same actor who played professor Slughorn in Harry Potter

Matthew

I’m at urgent care. If I had my ear buds I would definitely be watching this right now.

Andrew Freeman

Okay well now you'll have to watch Prince Caspian.

Shannon Higgins

My favorite Clone Wars arc and Narnia in one week … life is good 😌

Mad Lad Wizard

What is this thumbnail what did the pope do 😭

NevoDaSlowPoke

Was the interesting thing you notice that in the end, they all fit and represent different Hogwarts houses? Im looking forward watching this !!

AyaaChann

Ya IK

Zombieki11er451

He did the 2 dune movies that are out (not counting the old one because it’s not related)

Matthew

Holy shit it’s Friday already? Well I’m glad loving your reactions I grew up on this trilogy. I’m glad I get to rewatch it for the first time in many years with you!!! :)

Matthew

Oh I know. And man I can’t wait for that reaction. He said that he will watch lord of the rings after he is all caught up in Star Wars

Zombieki11er451

He’s planning on doing LOTR at some point

Bmaster532

I'm excited to watch this tonight

Joeyrke

Mid ass movie series

MaulTheObese

These movies were my entire childhood. I'm so excited you are watching these Alex!

Caoimhe h

Now he just needs to watch Lord of the rings then he would have completed all the top fantasy movies. Dune, chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and the last one he needs to watch now is Lord of the rings

Zombieki11er451

Wordreb lmao
