I can say without a doubt that I am in a place right now where I am SO thoroughly enjoying this shit out of this show!

You guys were right all along! I was skeptical, but now I totally understand. Also, I know there are still so many good arcs we haven't even covered yet!

Thank you all for taking this journey with me!

Need to watch Tales of the Jedi if you haven't yet, Ep. 2-5 show Jedi Dooku and it's amazing.

Your 100% right, Palps was seeing how capable Anakin is getting and he's actively trying to replace Dooku. If it wasn't for his lightning he was probably going to lose. Old man was out of breath

E-Hensley

Alex next week please watch the rest of season four the last 2 episodes are so fucking good

Desi Cr

Btw, Cad Bane's race (Duros) and Neimodians (trade federation) going from one source, Duro.

Sorry Alex, this isn’t technically a spoiler, but Ashoka never got the memo, she was concerned but never thought anything like the rest of the Jedi

It’s my personal belief that if anakin had won against Dooku here, he would’ve killed him and revenge of the sith would’ve jumpstarted early from there

Maybe, it would definitely be advantageous for Palps, but I'm not sure he would've had any way of knowing that Obi-Wan was undercover as Hardeen. Or maybe he did. Idk.

Victor

I also believe sveeve might have wanted anakin to actually kill obi wan as hardeen. He was one of the main people keeping anakin stable and on the light side. Palpatine always wanted obi wan dead. And if anakin does it thats a whole other lvl of trauma

Naggo

Fun fact. The Coruscant guard changes outfits from 15:02 and 15:11

I think this whole plot was set up by Palpatine mainly to test Anakin. Earlier in this season we see Anakin fight Dooku and Anakin fails pretty bad, but now Anakin has grown stronger and actually almost beats Dooku. We can see Dooku struggling throughout the fight in a way he never has before and he only gets out at the last second by using force lightning. That's why while Dooku and Anakin are fighting, we see multiple shots pan towards Palpatine, smiling. He's pleased to see Anakin growing stronger, and giving into the dark side as he fights Dooku. Dooku is powerful, too, but he's getting old, and Anakin has the highest potential out of any force user in the galaxy. Obviously, Palpatine's eventual plan is to replace Dooku with Anakin which is exactly what happens in Revenge of the Sith when Anakin gives in to his dark side, besting Dooku and killing him. Here, Palpatine is seeing how close Anakin is to being stronger than Dooku. Anakin's not there yet, but he's getting closer. This whole thing also helps build Anakin's mistrusts in the council and, on the other hand, his trust in Palpatine, building to his turn in Episode III. The whole idea of Obi-Wan being undercover is really cool, but what really makes this arc for me is that it gives us more insight into how Palpatine slowly groomed Anakin, and how Anakin is coming to mistrust the council more and more. It really helps us even better understand Anakin's turn later on.

Victor

I always viewed this arc as just one big test, set up by Palpatine, not only for Anakin but also for Dooku. Dooku probably only wanted to kidnap Palpatine so the Separatists could have an edge, but Palpatine's real plan was to use this situation to place mistrust in Anakin of the Jedi Order, become a closer friend to him, and test Anakins skills as a force user. Palpatine is always looking to replace Dooku for after the Clone Wars since Dooku is old and more of a political figure than a full-on dark side user. Even during the Empire, Palpatine always tested Vader and tried to replace him. At the end of the episode, Dooku said "well done" to Obi-wan and kind of looked down upon Anakin. I viewed that as Dooku just trying to save face, as he doesn't want to seem weak in front of his own master. To some extent, Dooku knows he is trying to replace him with Anakin. I mean Dooku was a master to Ventress and he even said that he wanted to overthrow Palpatine- which Palpatine knew was happening and had Dooku try to kill her in a previous arc. It is all a game to Palpatine and he is SO GOOD at it. So good.

Palpatine getting a hard on being like Oh yeah Anakin embrace the darkside
