Joker (FULL MOVIE REACTION)
Added 2023-12-18 22:12:40 +0000 UTCHey guys!
It's time for JOKER! After watching this movie, I told myself that I WILL make movies. I WILL write and direct a movie at some point in my life. I don't know what possessed me to say that, but this movie was the catalyst for that desire!
I hope you guys enjoy this reaction as much as I enjoyed making it :)
This week is going to be awesome!!!
Love,
Alex

If you've not seen it, you absolutely must watch Taxi Driver, at some point. It was a huge inspiration to this movie, and is one of my favorite de Niro films ever. The King of Comedy too.

2025-08-10 18:34:17 +0000 UTCYeah this movie is part of “otherworlds” There will be a joker 2 You didn’t notice the bloody footprints after he walked out at the exit but that’s way ok You were captivated! You asked: how does an actor do that? The answer is they tap into real life trauma Joaquin’s older brother River, was really famous but addicted to heroin. He was legit famous. OD’ed outside Johnny Depps nightclub and people literally walked over him without noticing a junkie but loving him on the silver screens. Truly sad I’m guessing he tapped into that real emotion? Just my guess Love your videos Alex You’re going places, brotherman To quote Joe Dirt: “Keep on keeping on”🙏🤘🫶

2023-12-21 09:27:21 +0000 UTCI've never watched Kings of Comedy before, but I'll hold off on watching it in case Alex gives it a go. Taxi Driver is an excellent watch, though. Great suggestion!

2023-12-21 08:34:08 +0000 UTCYou absolutely MUST watch Taxi Driver, and The King of Comedy. Two movies that this is heavily inspired by. You would love them.

2023-12-21 02:58:23 +0000 UTCI think as an origin story of the Joker character, this was amazing. However, if this was intended to be the origin of the Batman's villain Joker - I'm not impressed. Arthur didn't feel like The Joker always has in the past, any of the times that he was portrayed onscreen. Both Nicholson and Ledger did an incredible job playing the role. I don't think that Phoenix met that standard. I felt that he instead went too far beyond the mental breaks that the character has and portrayed his own take on it. I enjoyed the film! I just did cannot appreciate his choice in styling the character as he did. I think this was more made to be a commentary on mental health and the risks involved with it instead of a comic book character film. It was an entertaining film but not in the same way as any of the other comic book character films that have been made so far. Quality film but I don't think that the sequels will go this route again. We'll see, though!

2023-12-20 00:30:11 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite films of recent years. Not necessarily because of the story, but because of Joaquin Phoenix's overwhelmingly good acting performance. As you say, he did a phenomenal job portraying the character of the Joker and all his psychological problems. I saw the movie for the first time in the cinema with colleagues and it was very disturbing and irritating, but it also made us think about society's view of mental health problems and how to deal with them. Also about the fact that the healthcare system often does not offer sufficient support due to a lack of financial or political support. Definitely a thought-provoking movie.

2023-12-19 09:24:20 +0000 UTCThis movie is basically a warning about how people create the "monsters" that we have. Just read comments on social media. Monsters are being created everyday.. It's sad. Hearing Alex yell about funding and mental health etc. Dude wasn't alive in the 70's and early 80'swhen this film is "taking" place.. No one really understood mental health, they didn't understand PTSD or anything.. If you were really "crazy" and there was funding they locked you away in an asylum.. Most city/county councilors didn't even have a degree, they were just hired to do a job they had no business doing. No one took this stuff that seriously not until maybe the mid to later 90s.

2023-12-19 05:32:20 +0000 UTCThis movie is incredibly in its own way. Joaquin is phenomenal in his acting, commitment and portrayal of the depth of Arthur, especially the the multitude of pain one can feel or is possible to feel. The toll of unrighteousness that a person can encounter, and how hard it can affect the outcome of a persons mental state and loss of trust in the world around them, is so well depicted in this movie. There's almost no country that I know that has a very well working mental health program and so many tragedies happen due to the lack of policies, politics, budget cuts, byrocracy in general, incomprehension and mostly because of the lack of compassion. People tend to talk about what understanding and being open minded, but in truth, most of them just say it because they want to portray something to others. The motion that if everyone has the same opinion or shares the same values, is much more accepted then speaking out on issues that raise questions, in a respectful way. It's like the world or better yet the people in it, are so willing to become sheep and name the others wolfs, that they're not willing to see that neither should be the only option, but rather be understanding, respectful but most importantly individual. Arthur made bad choices, choices that most would most likely not even consider. Acknowledging that and putting it aside, he was insanely resilient, patient and indefatigable especially considering everything he had endured. I've seen this movie several times and from the first scene on, it's heartbreaking. Yet, most don't take anything from this and continue their lives as normal and won't see individuals in wolrd of pain or unjust conditions any differently. Tbh, I was worried that you might make a more "commercialized" reaction and not as honest as you did, I'm more than glad that I was wrong and wanted to thank you for the honesty you spoke and willingness of commenting on subjects most people might not even talk about, not to mention, understand. Waiting for the edit, I'm interested to see what kind of edit we will get of this.

2023-12-19 04:18:04 +0000 UTCTechnically this movie has no ties to any other Batman movie and is to be treated in its own stand alone universe. There will be a second movie that's supposed to be released in 2024 with Lady Gaga taking on the Harley Quinn role. Apparently it will be a musical of sorts, so that should be interesting.

2023-12-19 02:01:16 +0000 UTCYes, there's going to be a Joker 2. It's currently scheduled for release in October 2024. Joaquin Phoenix will be back, of course, and Lady Gaga will be playing Harley Quinn.
