2024-04-28 18:06:37 +0000 UTCWatup man. I've been watching your music reactions on Youtube for some time. I didn't watch your movie reactions cause I wanted to wait till I had time to join you on here for full versions. Star Wars and Game of Thrones are my 2 favorite things ever. Glad to join you on this journey. I also hope you consider watching the animated series, Clone Wars and Rebels. They are an integral part of the story.

2023-11-22 02:45:41 +0000 UTCI highly recommend everyone watch "Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy" on youtube. You'll see all the making-of stuff, including the models they created and other practical effects. Just fantastic.

2023-11-22 02:41:32 +0000 UTCI agree, Metal Machine. Disney has ruined pretty much everything nowadays. They can hardly come up with a new idea, and when they do, it is a woke mess. Example: Animated Mulan had to go through trials and work hard to become what she needed to be; Live-action Mulan was apparently born with all the knowledge and skills she needed.

2023-11-22 02:37:08 +0000 UTCI agree with you that episode 5 is probably the best in the trilogy, and probably in all the movies. I was 27 in 1977, and couldn't believe what I was seeing the first time I saw Star Wars: A New Hope... just seeing that Star Destroyer fill up the screen was incredible. After all, aside from 2001: A Space Odyssey, most of the spaceships and outer space action we'd seen before was a little silly, to be honest. Except for the ships in Forbidden Planet (1956) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), of course; two very good movies for their time.
Chryss Guiler
2023-11-22 02:27:26 +0000 UTCTry to imagine the way we saw the movies in the theaters when they were released. We were so happy with the three movies and content with the story. Then, when we heard that George Lucas was working on the prequel movies, we couldn't wait to see how Darth Vader came to be. That was a story all its own.
Chryss Guiler
2023-11-22 02:17:20 +0000 UTCI dislike the sequel trilogy because of the way they completely ignored Star Wars lore, and the way they treated the OT characters.

2023-11-22 02:14:50 +0000 UTCYou kinda just proved their point

2023-11-19 00:44:52 +0000 UTCI was six when this first came out. My mother took us to a Drive-In theatre (everyone sits in their cars or outside them, in rows, in front of a big outdoor screen). She parked in the very first row, placed a blanket on the ground, and placed the removeable speakers at the head of the blanket so we each had a speaker. Watching the movie unfolded practically above us, it was like we were really seeing the space battles above our heads. I was in love. I watched every movie that came out, and some of the series. And when Disney opened up their Star Wars part of the park, I was there. There were hundreds of us standing (not allowed to sit) around for forty-five minutes in a large open lot in front of the Chinese Theatre (no longer there) at Hollywood Studies. And when the Star Wars spectacular laser Light show started, there were ships over my head once more. The battles, the scenes, and the lasers all unfolded. I cried. Suddenly I was six again and in love once more.

2023-11-15 04:24:47 +0000 UTCSo, so, so glad we’ve gotten to Star Wars. My father showed them to me when I was 5 years old and I have grown up loving them since, to the point of having a full tattoo sleeve of just Star Wars stuff. They are my favorite movie series of all time and I can’t wait for you experience them for the first time as well.

2023-11-06 03:09:27 +0000 UTCThe Star Wars movies are very central to my pop culture frame of reference for my entire life. I was 5 years old when I first saw it in theater (ratings? recommended viewing age? in the late 70s? lol), and immediately started running around pretending to have Lightsabers and Blasters, and to be piloting X-Wings. I was 7 when Empire Strikes Back hit theaters, and 9 when Star Wars came to VHS home video. And I was 10 when Return of the Jedi debuted. For better or worse, these movies represent the essence of my childhood. Alex, if you read this, you need to know a couple of things. First, I am going to love watching these movies yet again along with you. Secondly, you should realize that the version you are seeing (for at least the original 3 movies) are the "sweetened" Special Editions released 20 years after the first theatrical release of A New Hope. Lucas went back and remastered the movies using more modernized digital effects, adding in bigger explosions, more alien creatures, more background traffic, and actually changed a few key plot elements, such as in the first movie, on Tatooine in the Cantina scene where Luke and Obi-Wan first meet Han Solo, when the bounty hunter Greedo stops Han and sits him back down at the table, in the version you watched, Greedo shot an instant before Han blasted him. But in the original version, Greedo never shot, Han straight up murdered Greedo in cold blood, but Lucas later decided that he didn't want any of his protagonist characters to be that morally ambiguous and he changed it to a "self defense" scenario in the 1997 Special Editions. And as far as I know, the only way for anyone to see the original unedited versions is to find the special box set from 2006, they are not streamed anywhere, and it seems Disney (who now owns the rights to Star Wars after Lucas sold everything to them) have no plans to rerelease the originals in the future. In the grand scheme of the Star Wars movies, the updated edits don't fundamentally alter the key plot points or characters, it's mostly just editorial sweetening of old material using newer techniques, to satisfy the original creators vision, and to smooth the transition going forward for the future prequels and sequels. But always remember... Han shot first ;) https://youtu.be/PjGZ8ABEFhI?si=7aXSEF0Ji2ScESbD

2023-11-04 03:18:22 +0000 UTCI know this is likely redundant, but glad Alex is reacting to SW. While we will all agree some movies are better than others, I am looking forward to Alex’s take. Now back to Alex slapping some gooch!!! 😀
Kevin Steele
2023-11-04 02:37:28 +0000 UTCIt's SC 38 Reimagined, but I agree. And the nice part about it is it doesn't spoil anything. It's just a proof of concept of what the fight scene could be with modern effects.
Eric
2023-11-04 00:56:38 +0000 UTCThere is a video you need to watch on YouTube. It's the medal ceremony at the end of the movie but without the music. It's absolutely hysterical!! I've watched it several time and it gets funnier every time! https://youtu.be/Tj-GZJhfBmI?si=LdSufD05sb-K-WvF

2023-11-03 22:15:12 +0000 UTCRelease order is better anyways. The reveals are better in that order. He’ll thank us later.

2023-11-02 15:01:48 +0000 UTCFor me 1-6 is best but I dont mind release, Im just happy we get SW, ofc I would prefer the other but its a great journey either way

2023-11-02 14:22:20 +0000 UTCAlex did a few things I laughed at. Called Han "Hans", checked for an end credits scene, and fell for every twist. This is gonna be an awesome journey.

2023-11-02 00:28:46 +0000 UTCYou should watch SC34 reimagined on youtube. its pretty much a remake of the vader vs obi wan fight i dont think it has any spoilers in it. oh and my favorite star wars movie is 100% revenge of the sith because you will see why
Josh
2023-11-01 04:28:24 +0000 UTCVery true. Him not knowing anything irl sort of helped in a way, here. I mean, there's no way that some farm boy would know anything about lightsaber combat. :)

2023-10-31 20:03:02 +0000 UTCI'm so happy because you are watching SW for the first time and im here to witness it but at the same time, im sad because you are going with the release order, and if you go through it in that order you will get a MAJOR spoiler for the movies that happen later. Not gonna say anything else. Hope you enjoy all of them <3
IGOR PODEMSKI
2023-10-31 17:59:08 +0000 UTCWatching you experience all these moments for the first time was truly awesome and magical 🙌 it honestly brought a lot of happiness to my day, thanks so much Alex and thank you in advance for all the Star Wars content to come! I have my own views about what viewing order is best for a first timer but release order is certainly the most safe and solid option. I’m a big advocate for the machete order for the first six films but it’s totally your choice. And ignore anyone telling you to skip films, they’re just afraid that you’ll enjoy something they hate and want to deprive you of the chance to make your own decisions. You’re a legend dude 🙏 can’t wait for the next one!

2023-10-31 16:37:39 +0000 UTCI love how you say the Stormtroopers have the precision of John Wick only to see them shoot so well later in the movie

2023-10-31 16:30:55 +0000 UTCI suggest that you watch Family Guy's parody episode of this after. It was hilarious.

2023-10-31 15:47:41 +0000 UTCSorry I’ve left like ten comments on this thing. Wasn’t my intention. But wanted to mention that these versions do have some updates and CGI that were added later on. That being said, most of the stuff is original, and a lot of it holds up quite well because of the detail of the practical effects they used. Truly revolutionary
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 14:50:15 +0000 UTCRogue one is so good.
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 14:48:22 +0000 UTCOh yeah, they’re not the only toxic “fan” base for sure. For crying out loud I had to unsubscribe to the how I met your mother subreddit of all things, a show I love, because most of the posts were just people talking about how much they hated stuff? Like what?
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 14:45:32 +0000 UTCThanks for illustrating my point.
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 14:43:40 +0000 UTCThis is what we mean Alex 🙄and this is them being polite.

2023-10-31 14:40:29 +0000 UTCrevenge of the sith episode 3 is def my favorite but theres just so much to enjoy in star wars i love it all. so many fantastic memories with my dad watching star wars. excited to go on this journey with you!
Megan Burland
2023-10-31 09:11:04 +0000 UTCToxic why? I can tell you. Because most of the fans of any kind (not only about star wars fans) don't like when their beloved fantastic universe turned to bullshit, because franchise owners think only about money, and have no better ideas then make grotesque self-copying with a bunch of Mary Sues, ridiculously overepowered bad guys, and nonsense, illogical moves. They even can't hire same director to make complete trilogy, instead next direktor filming something by his vision. Also throwing out "old canon", work of hundreds people in decades, to trash compactor, making own parody to it(bow to your new master, and forget all you know before!), but now, after few years, they began use old canon in shape of "new" as well, because Disney haven't own ideas except stupidity like "crying crystals" etc
Metal Machine
2023-10-31 08:47:21 +0000 UTCTotally true. Star Wars fans can be the most toxic fans of all. And totally in denial about it. (Although to be fair, Marvel fans are getting pretty toxic too, along with the emergence of the #MarvelSucksNowBooHoo brigade).
Kev Martin
2023-10-31 08:42:46 +0000 UTC100% agree
kev
2023-10-31 08:39:51 +0000 UTCHaters gotta hate.
Kev Martin
2023-10-31 08:39:19 +0000 UTCChronological order is *literally* the worst.
Kev Martin
2023-10-31 08:36:55 +0000 UTCAnd yet, many many people love them. Some even call them their favourites. The real haters of the sequel trilogy seem to be the same folks who believe in "true fans" etc. As in "No true fan likes the sequels". Some weird kind of elitism at play there - "my preferences are more valid than yours because I say so".
Kev Martin
2023-10-31 08:35:56 +0000 UTCThank you. I hate people saying stuff like this like it’s a well accepted fact or something. It’s not.
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 06:16:15 +0000 UTCFor real tho
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 06:15:02 +0000 UTCDefinitely don’t take the comments too seriously if you choose to read them. And definitely don’t take anything personally or as gospel. Decide for yourself. I love Star Wars, so it disappoints me to say, but the fan base (at least a certain faction that likes to take to their keyboards) are VERY toxic and entitled, and I can’t stand it. I know someone who left their job at lucasfilm because of the fandom being so toxic. Not trying to scare you. Just a warning if you see some types of comments, keep that in mind. I’m excited for you to watch all of these and hope you’ll rewatch mando plus the following seasons! You’ll get so much more appreciation. This turned into a novel but I’m a nerd and have no friends so what do you want 🤷♀️
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 06:14:51 +0000 UTCI don’t think they’re way better, but I can understand why you might prefer them overall. They’re probably easier for newer audiences to watch because of the modern style and graphics, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s just the way it is.
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 06:10:53 +0000 UTCThis is just your opinion. I love the last three and plenty of other people enjoy them. I’m sorry you didn’t, but don’t say they’re sick and fucked up, like… that’s not a fact. And feels a bit extreme. The whole point of the channel is reactions. He can watch them if he wants and decide what he thinks. Btw, as an example of differing opinions, I much prefer the sequels to the prequels.
Triene (Katie)
2023-10-31 06:09:24 +0000 UTCExtremely controversial opinion: The prequels are way better and I can't wait till you get to them. I feel like people who say they aren't are either saying it due to nostalgia, or because they're making excuses because it was made 50 years ago.
Nick Luce
2023-10-31 04:03:32 +0000 UTCYou can skip them. Don't legislate what other people want to see.
Michael Weiner
2023-10-31 03:34:30 +0000 UTCI love how much you don't know about the series it makes for the best reaction, you not knowing anyones names or anything is the best, try not to get to spoiled and it will make the experience so much better!
Crandal Barrow
2023-10-31 03:08:56 +0000 UTCAMAZING Reaction as always!
Asheenah
2023-10-31 01:27:16 +0000 UTCYou can watch almost all series and animated series at least for urself, if you interested, but please, dont watch 7, 8 and 9th episodes. They are stupid, sick and f'd up, they also ruined expanded universe of SW, killed the great thing. Never mind, im frustated about bullsit what happened with star wars universe with "new" canon.
Metal Machine
2023-10-31 00:05:59 +0000 UTCDon’t read comments!!!
Alex B
2023-10-30 23:37:29 +0000 UTCI doubt he'll watch 9 seasons of an animated tv show and dont think he'll watch any of the other small tv shows tbh but if he does ill be surprised
Zalfrec
2023-10-30 23:35:26 +0000 UTCSo happy you’re finally doing this, and I understand it’s intimidating to start such a beloved series, but that classic Alex sense of wonderment is so refreshing. I’ve seen the original trilogy more times than I can count, but re-experiencing it through your eyes was so wholesome. And you pointed out things I have, over time, lost the significance of. So glad to be on this journey with you.
Hefty517
2023-10-30 23:35:11 +0000 UTCdon't worry about the fights, mark (actor for Luke) started taking taekwondo classes after this movie so he could make the fight more spectacular, and some of the actors in the other movies knew legitimate sword fighting.
Jacob
2023-10-30 22:17:17 +0000 UTCI was 12 years old when this premiered. I saw each episode at the theatres on the weekend of their premiere. To be quite honest, this is my favourite only due to the nostalgia. It was the first time I was able to go to the theatre by myself and I paid for it with money I earned. It was so incredible to see the opening with the story floating through space. The space cowboy genre was truly born with this. I crushed something awful on Luke Skywalker. I think he was my real true sexual awakening, honestly. However, all that said, Empire Strikes Back is, arguably, the number one best film in the entire series.
Tymm Gwayn
2023-10-30 21:11:58 +0000 UTCI'll save any long comments for after the trilogy is done. All I want to say is that Star Wars has a different vibe to the MCU. The Force is kinda like a superpower but different. Kinda like Cap using Thor's Hammer. If you're a certain kind of person and deemed worthy you get the powers.
Koala Banana
2023-10-30 20:54:42 +0000 UTCI just hope he watches it in chronological order so he doesn't get confused lmao

2023-10-30 19:18:51 +0000 UTCWe all voted for where he should begin. Enough people voted for/commented saying that he should do it in release order. I'm stoked that he's doing it like this.
Logan Kerlee
2023-10-30 19:11:31 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure he's said that he'll be watching everything (as in all of it) ((no clue if he understands what that actually means xD)) but yeah, so that would include the animated Clonewars show. :D
Logan Kerlee
2023-10-30 19:09:34 +0000 UTCWhatever, whatever! I don't really mind. I'm just beyond thrilled that you got to enjoy the movie! :D

2023-10-30 19:07:18 +0000 UTCUgh, lol, it didn't post my entire comment about the reaction. :/ Not sure why. lol, that bit up there isn't very much of it at all. I'll go ahead and post it someplace else and comment the link here.

2023-10-30 19:05:00 +0000 UTCI think he is doing it by the date they were released

2023-10-30 19:02:58 +0000 UTCI am FUCKING hype for this! Hot damn, if I was around back then I'd LIVE in the theaters! The opening wall of text was deliberately slow to allow everyone to read it. :) This movie is god damn top tier amazing! You didn't mention C3PO! </3 xD lol, you didn't know him - fair. xD Armor isn't going to stop that type of blaster fire. The suits that the Empire's wearing is mostly for intimidation purposes. Stormtroopers are OBVIOUSLY the bad guys! lmao, look at their name for crying out loud! Oh man, I'm so fucking excited that you're FINALLY watching this, man! Being trapped in a desert is super terrifying for sure! Ah - yup, this isn't the original edition. This scene here wasn't included in the original film. Jawas are so awesome, though! xD lol, don't worry - you won't be seeing much of them. lmao, C3PO's a major complainer - be prepared for a lot of that throughout! xD Love him though. hahaha That "wizard" keep that in mind. You're obviously not reading this as you're watching it - but it's something that I'd be telling any first time watcher. xDD Hope you were paying attention to that while you were talking!! "He's got too much of his father in him!" Luke's 18 - 22, I believe. Those are sand people/Tusken Raiders, the red eyed ones are jawas. Old Ben is Obi Wan! I'm so shocked that you don't know these characters! xD "Over a thousand generations." You must keep that in mind! The Jedi have been around for sooo many years. The Sith has more or less destroyed that and them. Stormtroopers have TERRIBLE aim. lmao, just you wait and see. xD Yup! Aunt and uncle are dead - now's the time for adventure and revenge! That device was an interrogation droid. They're quite effective and able to perform their task. YUP! That was your first introduction to The Force! lol, and yeah they're weak minded. Many people in real life make for excellent soldiers but lack real world skills. lol - glad you know Chewbacca! Goldman! xD His name's 3PO! Yup. Everyone on that planet is now gone forever. Hell, the planet is gone forever. I LOVE that quote! "Let the wookie win." hahaha, happy memories. Yup, that big ass ship is The Death Star! Good job on remembering the name. RIP Ben - you recognized that early on. Luke's introduction to Leia is so iconic as well. :) Trash compactor time! This scene is freaky for sure. lol, it's nice to see you smile at it's conclusion! Leia's a sweetheart 100%! Way back when, she was what every nerdy dude idolized! 50 years is coming up on this, yeah! RIP Obi Wan! No, Obi Wan's toast. He's dead. He won't be alive again. As for Luke and Leia.. you'll just have to wait and see how that turns out! I SWEAR TO GOD, IF ANYONE SPOILS ANYTHING I'LL BE LIVID! Dude, you have no idea how INCREDIBLE this was back then! Hell, I don't but I know people who do. My folks saw these in theaters and their jaws were on the floor! Hearing their stories about how thrilling all of this was is so damn awesome! You should ask your folks what it was like seeing these in theaters. They no doubt have plenty to say about it all! Nah, you were right. That dude doesn't know how to pronounce the name. lol, rats on farms are pretty damn large. These were also space rats. xD This bit here is about the most thrilling thing ever made, back then for sure and these days it's still hard to top! This scene inspired damn near EVERY SINGLE air pilot film/scene. It either inspired them or heavily influenced the action in it! Vader is stupid impressive/overpowered. Obviously overpowered in that he's way the hell stronger than any of these chumps, both as a fighter as well as a pilot. He's schooling everybody! Knocked Wedge out of commission and next was Luke's other wingman. lmao, more or less! He's letting The Force take the wheel. BOOYAH!! Solo's back and came in clutch! THIS THEME IS SO GOD DAMN BONKERS COOL!! hahaha, I don't even care if you don't recognize it as such yet, but this theme hits me in the feels HARD!

2023-10-30 18:57:18 +0000 UTCKinda surprised you didn't Starrt with episode 1 and work your way through the movies in order

2023-10-30 18:41:37 +0000 UTCI don’t care what anyone says, my favorite is Episode 2: Attack of the Clones. I am a sucker for a good love story and Hayden was fine as hell!

2023-10-30 17:21:52 +0000 UTCI finish work in 15mins, can't wait to get home to watch this along with you Alex. My Dad took me to watch this bk in 1977 when it was released, I was 7yrs old, he took me to watch all the original 3. My Dad passed away just over 2 years ago and I miss him so much, but I'm thankful that i have the wonderful memories of watching them with him. I really hope you enjoy them. 👍😁

2023-10-30 17:12:43 +0000 UTCGreat shout, it'll be a long watch, but definitely worth it. And also agree, animated Clonewars should be watched in Chronological order. But everything else release order. 😁👍

2023-10-30 16:31:04 +0000 UTCI'm so excited to see you take this journey for the first time! Try to put yourself back into that childhood imagination, and combine that with only having the technology that was available to people in the early 80's. Then you might get close to understanding why this series of movies (especially this original trilogy) means SO much to so many of us GenXer's. Hope you enjoy it!! Much love!
Brad Beach
2023-10-30 16:27:52 +0000 UTCSaw the first 6 in theaters. I was 6 when A New Hope came out and it was "EVERYTHING" back then. I had a Star Wars lunch box. Star Wars was like an event that changed the world somehow. For me, Empire is my favorite of the series. David Prowse played the physical Darth vader, James Earl Jones was the voice actor of Darth. David was 6'6" so with the helmet on and the boots He was probably around 6'8". He was a body builder who actually could deadlift nearly 800 pounds. He also trained Christopher Reeves for Superman, Cary Elwes for Princess Bride and he was one fo the judges that crowned Arnold Schwarzeneger Mr. Universe, Arnold back then also did a lot of training at Davids gym. He passed away in 2020 at 85.
